Welcome to the Tea rooms newest incarnation. A cozy log cabin with a roaring log fire, comfy chintz sofas and a dedicated man about the house, our Butler, Mellors. Out of the windows you can see sparkling white snow gently drifted up under the green Christmas trees and bright blue skies. Children can all be packed off to play healthy outdoor stuff while we stay snug n warm in here with our mulled wine, tea, artisan hot chocolate and other beverages served in mugs, glasses or buckets.

The usual rules apply - no fisticuffs. And no messing with the aspidistra.

Went to Brimham Rocks with the YD today.
Fantastic place - it's the YD's favourite outing. The weather was glorious, and I met 2 great danes (both rescues)

I've just veen bell ringing tonight for the first time in 30 years...

A bit like riding a bicycle. I was very wobbly. And I am going to ache a lot for a couple of days...

Scout19075 · 10/04/2014 22:43

Pasta sauce in the slow cooker so I can jar and can it in the morning. Decided the jam cam wait until the morning. I probably could have/should have done it this evening but opted to watch two episodes of my current DVD series instead.

I think we're meant to have similar weather tomorrow so might try to see if more friends are around and see if they want to go to the park for a picnic. SB and I can go by ourselves, of course, and probably will, but it's much more fun (and we stay out longer) if we have friends join us.

mistlethrush · 10/04/2014 23:22

Glad the ringing went well. I can remember many of the patterns vaguely...

Donki · 11/04/2014 05:24

Vaguely remember is about right... :)

I stuck to call changes last night. They rang bob doubles, bob minor and St Simons (which seemed to involve double dodging) as well.

The back button on the phone strikes again!

I see Mellors has decided to put the breakfast buffet outside. All the snow has gone, there are spring flowers everywhere and the air is redolent with the smell of pine (and coffee).

The NMBs seem to be practising frying pan manouvres again.

Donki · 11/04/2014 07:57

MrD seems to be thinking a little more sensibly now. He is at least looking at a flat that would be much better placed for him to do things with YD instead of convenient for OW.

Actions speak louder than words. I'll wait and see where he chooses to live.

mistlethrush · 11/04/2014 08:00

Very glad to hear it. I put it down to the secret night manoeuvres of the NMBs - they've been whacking with virtual mini frying pans has he sleeps...

Donki · 11/04/2014 08:22

Ah! That would explain it! Grin

Scout19075 · 11/04/2014 15:08

SB looks distinctly un-British in his patriotism today. Grin

I wonder where the NMBs found such small Le Cueset pans....

Donki · 11/04/2014 17:15

What is SB being patriotic about, and how?

Sounds intriguing.

beanandspud · 11/04/2014 18:54

Ahhhhhh... Thank goodness it's Friday!

Scout19075 · 11/04/2014 19:08

Cheers, bean! I've been hoping for a weekend since Tuesday.

Donki, have you seen SB's skate/cycle helmet in the other space? He was wearing that plus a red Old Navy shirt with the same design/pattern on it. All he needed was his flag and/or his pinwheel which he sometimes takes out with us and someone would have accused me/him of being foreign.

I have a matching shirt and had it on today, too, but realized it when we were outside watering our seedlings so I changed shirts before we went into town.

Donki · 11/04/2014 19:30

Grin Scout.
The pair of you would have been a sight for sore eyes!

?Holds out the galvanised bucket towards Bean hopefully]

Donki · 11/04/2014 19:32

I hope the NMBs are on standby for tonight, although I don't know what address to send them to. Somewhere in North Leeds with a red Skoda sat outside.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 11/04/2014 19:36

::waggles glass at Bean, optimistically::

Or they could let the tyres down and bend the aerial out if shape, Donki?

beanandspud · 11/04/2014 19:51

I did wave at you yesterday Donki and MT as I was at the hotel near your station for a meeting. Sadly, there wasn't time for a cuppa.

Maud How's the garden? What do you have planned this year planting wise? We are on for a huge 'tidy up day' tomorrow as is is a disaster here at the moment.

Scout19075 · 11/04/2014 19:53

Scary sight more like it, Donki!

Old Navy does a new flag shirt every year, usually out for Memorial Day but a big seller for Independence Day. Mom gets SB a new one every year. She got me the 2013 one, too, and Mom thought it was funny to get the matching ones/color.

Donki, do you need the Le Crueset brigade as well?

UniS · 11/04/2014 19:53

My broad beans and peas have peeked up out the soil now, ditto radishes. Garlic is going great guns.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 11/04/2014 20:03

I'm not doing any new planting at the moment, because the neighbours are soon going to replace the fence and I don't want my babies to be trampled on. But I have got lots of clematis and geraniums waiting to be planted, as I went a bit mad on free for postage offers in Gardener's World magazine. Speaking of which, only 28 minutes until my weekly dose of Monty.

::sigh:;

Donki · 11/04/2014 20:07

Maud, No! That's my car!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 11/04/2014 20:08

Your car? I'll call them off immediately!

Scout19075 · 11/04/2014 20:10

I think the gherkins we recently put outside need to be put into a bag now -- I've just looked outside and they're all toppling over.

Scout19075 · 11/04/2014 20:12

SB and I transferred our straweberries from the little green house squares to small pots. They seem happy.

Our potatoes are growing nicely. I wish I could say the same about the rest....

Donki · 11/04/2014 20:13

I need to get our potatoes in - dare I plant the sweet peas out yet?
