Welcome to the Tea rooms newest incarnation. A cozy log cabin with a roaring log fire, comfy chintz sofas and a dedicated man about the house, our Butler, Mellors. Out of the windows you can see sparkling white snow gently drifted up under the green Christmas trees and bright blue skies. Children can all be packed off to play healthy outdoor stuff while we stay snug n warm in here with our mulled wine, tea, artisan hot chocolate and other beverages served in mugs, glasses or buckets.

The usual rules apply - no fisticuffs. And no messing with the aspidistra.

Well, it's certainly more appealing than a garden gnome or solar-powered meerkat.

UniS · 04/04/2014 12:12

are you sure that's a gnome? looks a bit like a Mohawk under that hat. and he's wearing tartan.

I think you're right, UniS.

And look, Mellors has commando-crawled in from the garden to prepare a sumptuous buffet lunch, with hot soup, tasty energy-boosting salads and fresh crusty bread. Do tuck in.

Donki · 04/04/2014 13:10

Aargh! No! Not the NMBs....

The soup is wonderful.

I'm in full on 'one thing at a time' mode...

Donki · 04/04/2014 13:12

I'm missing the viee whilst Mellors is undertaking chef duties :)

Slightly (okay, very) off topic. If a small boy is sitting on a balance bike how straight or bent should his legs be?

mistlethrush · 04/04/2014 13:16

Quite bent. He needs to be able to reach forward with his leg (whilst still sitting) and take a 'pace' and let his foot push backwards - so if you think what angle you would want your legs at for that... Right angle is too bent. Nearly straight is too straight.

mistlethrush · 04/04/2014 13:16

Donki - the apron doesn't do it for you then?

Scout19075 · 04/04/2014 13:25

Thanks, MT. I think I raised the seat too high. Will lower it one because down two, where it was yesterday, meant he was nearly at a right angle with his legs but the new height is nearly straight.

Donki · 04/04/2014 13:27

Not really MT - although to be honest, combats aren't really my 'thing' either.

But he still a jolly decorative feature...

I could look at Artemis all day though.
?Fans self?

Scout19075 · 04/04/2014 13:31

What's floating in my soup?!

Donki · 04/04/2014 13:34

I'd check with the NMBs if you can get one to stay still for long enough.
Do you think it might be ?whispers?a spog?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/04/2014 13:41

Artemis?

::always looking for the next opportunity for a bit of aesthetic appreciation::

Donki · 04/04/2014 13:44

Musketeers BBC1 Sunday.(Antonio Cabrera, I think)

Scout19075 · 04/04/2014 13:57

I think I'm the only one in the country who isn't completely taken with the Three Musketeers. I watch it because MrScout does but don't really pay attention to it.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/04/2014 14:00

Ah yes. The Girl is very keen on the Musketeers, but for her it's all about the derring-do. And the dresses and pearls.

Scout19075 · 04/04/2014 14:03

Bike seat down. Looks more comfortable for SB. Helmet adjusted. Haven't had it on since the autumn and he's grown a bit. Two episodes of Alphablocks and we're going out for another test. One very excited SmallBoy.

Donki · 04/04/2014 14:06

I know several people who don't like Musketeers Scout

I love some of the buildings they have used, and it has been fun watching the actors get better at riding instead of using stunt doubles. Although I do wish someone would tell D'Artagnan to shorten his reins a little and keep his hands down!

And Artemis is very watchable.

Scout19075 · 04/04/2014 15:00

I'm not even a horse person so can't watch it for that.

MT, thanks for the bike help -- new position much better for SmallBoy. Much enjoyment had including "being brave" and raising his feet off the ground at the same time.

Anyone for an afternoon Brew and Cake?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/04/2014 15:08

Brew and Cake would be lovely, Scout, thank you.

I am not a horsey person either, but I have just googled Aramis and can see why Donki might find him easy on the eye.

Donki · 04/04/2014 15:14

Ah, yes Aramis. Oops.

Very easy on the eye, though.

Brew and Cake would be lovely thank you, Scout.

I think a nice soothing brew - the emotional upset has left me with a sore stomach.

Donki · 04/04/2014 15:14

(And clearly, a non-functioning brain)

Scout19075 · 04/04/2014 15:28

I shouldn't wish my life away but roll on 7 o'clock!

Donki · 04/04/2014 15:33

What happens at 7 o'clock, Scout?
