The Nordic Tearoom (Number 31)

We have moored the barge for the winter and have moved to a beautiful, cosy log cabin in deepest Scandinavia overlooking a frozen lake and surrounded by pine trees.

Mellors has lit the log fires and candles, it is snowing outside and there are comfortable seats for everyone and fleecy blankets to snuggle up in. For the more active tearoomers there are skis and sledges outside as well as a steaming hot tub for winding down after a busy day.

So pull up a chair. The kettle is on for Brew and there is always plenty of Wine depending on your mood and time zone. (Alternatively there is schnapps, smorgasbord and smoked fish).

Everybody is welcome ? share as much or as little as you like ? but no fisticuffs please!

I like the composites, such as the

wedding hat

Thanks Smile

and Isabella Blow's hat

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 16/12/2011 23:54

Very good! I know some people whinge about the number of smileys on here but I like them.
I wish we had a "Doh!" one though - hand across forehead or something, I need that one...

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 17/12/2011 00:00

Oxeye and I made a load of composites several months ago - the best one involved a daffodil but that seems no longer to be available.

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 17/12/2011 00:51

the daff was for St. David's day, wasn't it? It was almost as good as the dragon for St. George's day, and I still rather love the bunnets for Burns' Night.

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 17/12/2011 00:56

Yes, but sometimes the old code works (if you can remember it) but every possibility I've tried for the daff hasn't worked. Boo hoo.

Hi all, I'm back home, on the couch with a very fat and sore knee (drugs are starting to wear off) and a very fuzzy stupid brain ( drugs definitely not wearing off there). All went well. No tear in the meniscus but he thinks there was one that healed by itself because there was a very odd looking area. So he did done clean up and trimming and it should be all good.
Can't keep my eyes open. Will be back tomorrow. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, very very much appreciated. More tomorrow. Ny ny. xxJM

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 17/12/2011 13:58

Just stay on that couch, JM, and take it easy.

::Looks over top of pince-nez in stern manner::

Blush

Just kidding :), I have no desire whatsoever to get up. I feel like I've been kicked in the knee, the muscly part just above. It feels like a massive charley horse. Not too restful a night, I think I drifted all night rather than actually slept. After effects of GA, no doubt.
Not doing much today, I think.

Thanks all for thinking of me Thanks.

amberlight · 17/12/2011 19:51

JM, rest all you can.

Sorry I'm a bit quiet. A friend has just died, and I'm still pretty tired from all the breast cancer treatment, but I do read when I can.

Mellors seems to have Wine and chocolate available. Hurrah!

Jacksmania · 17/12/2011 20:38

((((amber)))))
I'm so sorry to hear that. :(

CMOTdibbler · 17/12/2011 20:54

JM - you stay resting and do your physio OK ? I have my beady eyes on you

Gentle hugs and love to you Amber

We are a lurgy tastic house, full of coughing and grimness. I am enjoying the respite of my latest tennis elbow steroid injection, which is bliss.

beanandspud · 17/12/2011 21:09

JM , get lots of rest and make the most of the opportunity to lie around and do very little.

Amber, sorry to hear about your friend and sending you big hugs.

Hello CMOT - hopefully you have a week to get rid of the bugs.

Have you watched the SCD final Maud? I am just starting on sky+ I have everything crossed for Jason but I don't think it will be his night.

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 17/12/2011 21:16

I'm watching it now, Bean, but will say no more or you'll lose the suspense.

beanandspud · 17/12/2011 23:01

I think the best man probably won Maud Xmas Sad!

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 17/12/2011 23:04

Except that, according to the judges' scores tonight, he wasn't the best man - wasn't it Jason who had the highest score? Hey ho. I guess all the teenyboppers voted for him, but at elast his acceptance speech was very gracious.

Jacksmania · 18/12/2011 15:35

Morning. Ugh, what a bad night. Woke up at 3:30 am feeling like someone had set my kneecap on fire. I guess I let the Tylenol and Advil run out. I think I'm going to be a bit more careful keeping on top of meds.

I feel like I pretty much lost the entire day yesterday. That must mean, at the very least, that I didn't over do it, though.

How's everyone?

amberlight · 18/12/2011 19:00

Hi JM, arrgh re your bad night...you need a nice relaxing Mellors massage I think?

Alright thanks. Been entertaining senior clergy and mooching about in a tea-drinking sort of way, preparing myself for the Christmas Last Minute Present Getting tomorrow morning.

UniS · 18/12/2011 22:07

Ho HO HO and all that, boy is getting VVVVV excited about christmas now he's off school .

Smypathy for teh knee JM, get back onteh sofa and top up your painkillers please.

Tea drinking with Clergy- sounds like a productive Sunday Amber.

I have to pop into church tomorrow with a crowbar!!!! a cable got utterly trapped under a door after carol service. need to sort it .

ComeIntoTheFestiveGardenMaud · 18/12/2011 22:17

I have now been given the keys to our church.

::Plans rave in the nave::

Woo-hoo for the countdown to Christmas. Yikes about JM's pain - here's hoping the next 24 hours are easier.

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 18/12/2011 22:21

appropriately non-threatening (((hugs))) for Amber

healing and painfree vibes for JM - keep on top of those meds, my dear!

UniS - that does sound extreme! Must have been a fattish cable that got twisted?

Last football class of the season today - should have been last week but it was rained off (it's an indoor class, the sport centre was flooded! Xmas Shock so they've added this week as a bonus.

It's about to rain again - I left washing out overnight on the principle that it would dry this morning - ha! got that wrong (Law of Sod at play again).
