The Nordic Tearoom (Number 31)

We have moored the barge for the winter and have moved to a beautiful, cosy log cabin in deepest Scandinavia overlooking a frozen lake and surrounded by pine trees.

Mellors has lit the log fires and candles, it is snowing outside and there are comfortable seats for everyone and fleecy blankets to snuggle up in. For the more active tearoomers there are skis and sledges outside as well as a steaming hot tub for winding down after a busy day.

So pull up a chair. The kettle is on for Brew and there is always plenty of Wine depending on your mood and time zone. (Alternatively there is schnapps, smorgasbord and smoked fish).

Everybody is welcome ? share as much or as little as you like ? but no fisticuffs please!

Oh Mr scout- how embarrassing for him...

Scout19075 · 08/12/2011 21:42

If I wasn't so happy to have it home he picked it up this afternoon on his way home from work I'd be livid. If I'd done that he'd be all over me like white on rice and would never let it drop.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/12/2011 22:50

::Offers Scout some soothing Wine::

This is my latest buy from the Girlguiding boutique. The heart badge is nafforama but it's a nice shade of blue and warmer than any of my other Guiding fleeces.

Scout19075 · 08/12/2011 23:01

Thanks Maud.

I quite fancy a pair of these for camp. I still like this though I'm not sure about this.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/12/2011 23:04

'Snot fair. Your region produces groovy hoodies. Ours doesn't (or at least doesn't publicise them well enough for me to notice). I like the blue one. Go on, buy one and the wellies!

Scout19075 · 08/12/2011 23:08

You could probably by the hoodie, too! My SiL lives in Berks and isn't a member and she ordered one from Anglia. Grin Go on, you know you want one....

Do you and Girl have the smile badges?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/12/2011 23:49

I haven't heard of the smile badge, so I guess that means no!

Scout19075 · 09/12/2011 00:10

They're the "Happiness is...." badges. My computer is thinking of crashing out on me so I can't link.

Good night, everyone!

oxeye · 09/12/2011 00:17

aww, just seen your kind offer of blanket Scout, you are sweet!
glad you have the camera back!

will have more to say when we are Not Guiding, that's not meant rudely but I am a reader not a writer about such exchanges!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/12/2011 00:19

::Clasps Oxeye to her ample bosom::

::Offers to lend Oxeye her woggle::

oxeye · 09/12/2011 00:50

::Backs slowly into the corner::

err no thanks Maud Wink

I would just like to say: BRRRR. Baby, it's cold outside!

I'm very glad we invested in some fleece-lined overalls for Toddler. We dressed up warmly and went out for a walk into town where we treated ourselves to a hot chocolate and shortbread then stopped for yogurt and chocolate and biscuits (not to eat, but to bring home for snacks later and for a cake I'm going to make this weekend).

Thanks for the hot chocolate, Thumb!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/12/2011 12:38

My apologies. That's exactly how I feel about the horse riding chat - very interesting as a bystander but I can't participate.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/12/2011 12:39

Although, of course, anyone is welcome to help me with my Guiding fashion dilemmas!

Scout19075 · 09/12/2011 12:53

Those with children older than Toddler -- do you think your kids would like/eat "Oreo Cookie Balls/Truffles"? It's crushed oreo mixed with some cream cheese, refrigerated, made into balls like truffles then dipped in chocolate. We're going to a mixed-age Christmas party next week and we're all bringing treats. Everyone else makes cookies and cakes so I wanted to take something a bit different.

amberlight · 09/12/2011 13:17

Ooo, Brew and marshmallows! Excellent. And there's soup du jour with rolls shaped like Viking helmets!

Can't contribute much to the Guiding things but I read with interest.

CMOTdibbler · 09/12/2011 13:20

I don't think ds would like those Scout tbh. He's certainly not been keen on choc truffles generally.

It is yuck, wet, and cold here. DS has an afterschool party today, which I am not terribly keen on as a concept as it means finishing work early, picking him up and not having that time to do anything nice

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 09/12/2011 13:24

Scout - they sound really interesting! miniThumb wouldn't eat them only because he wouldn't be allowed to have the wheat-based oreos - but that wouldn't be a problem for most people.

Bishops on skis? what fun!

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 09/12/2011 14:27

good job they're not like these! Xmas Grin

mistlethrush · 09/12/2011 14:41

Lovely!!!!

I've just had a VERY cold and fairly wet site visit. Had to go to Morrisons for a coffee to warm up before joining the car park (otherwise known as the M62) back.

MC got his purple stripe belt in karate yesterday so is very pleased. DH is going to grade in Jan apparently and I believe has put an order in for the jacket.

Brew ?

amberlight · 09/12/2011 15:04
Xmas Grin Yay for Purple stripe belts!! Not so yay for cold and wet site visits. Session 10 of 18 of radiotherapy complete, which marks my third medical event of the day. I shall celebrate with that Brew MT, yes please!
