Welcome aboard.

The first rule of the tea room is - No fisticuffs.
The second rule is - Put the kettle on and lets have a Brew or open a bottle of Wine if its that time of day. Pull a sofa and relax. Parents of one, more (or less) children are welcome to hop on board and chat about anything and nothing. Introduce yourself if new and if you name change give us clue please.

ipbjt - ooh, one on Friday, that's amazing too - it seems like only yesterday that SecretBoy had his 1st birthday party - sob - anyway, another October baby, how lovely! warmest wishes for the day!

Maud - lovely to see you again too and sorry to catch you so late. Must tell us the name of the book! Yes, I do know he's still a baby in so many ways - the love for Teddy that surpasseth (nearly) all other love is a bit of a clue - but still. You know. Four...... Bonne nuit to you.

LaRevenanteSecrete · 11/10/2011 22:02

Hi Scout, long time no see! Wink

Thank you for your wishes; I know you feel the passing of the time keenly too! But there is a lot of pride and yummy stuff mixed in with the pain, isn't there... I do feel proud of having got him this far, at the beginning it seemed totally unimaginable. More Wine, I think...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 11/10/2011 22:06

::Pauses on the stairs::

Graham Greene's The End Of The Affair, Secret.

A domani, tutte!

mistlethrush · 11/10/2011 22:33

Scout. I'll borrow Todler Scout every third day to be a younger sibling for mistlechick. You can borrow Mistlechick every second day to be a toy picker-upper and general helper for TS. Then we can both send them to Unserp to help out in the classroom for the other day. With a combination of mistlechick enthusing and TS to go 'ah' over, I'm sure the class will be positive.

Stick - welcome back - I've been there. Had a sob on Dh's shoulder when on hols in the summer. And ds is now more than 6!

Secrete - nice to see you - being very dim though.. you'll have to give me a better hint than that.

LaRevenanteSecrete · 11/10/2011 22:38

I think I read that in my callow youth, Maud, and can remember precisely nothing of it (which is true of many of the books I read back then) - would be interesting to re-read in the light of rather more, er, life experience, and see if it makes a different impression.

MT - I have been a Secret this, and a Secrete that, and was most recently a bit of a boiling bunny (as opposed to a bunny boiler). Rabbits are in fact a theme, as is the poncey French tangent.

That's not really a better hint, is it?

mistlethrush · 11/10/2011 22:59

Hmm I think I might have worked it out Secrete. You'd better pm Amber though because I know she finds hints like that very difficult to follow but likes to see familiar faces in the tearoom as long as she knows who they are.

I always look enviously at the people pushing prams round the park and think how easy things were when mc was in his buggy....

beanandspud · 11/10/2011 23:19

Hello!

Hot chocolate anyone? And biscuits?

Just popped in after a couple of gruesome days at work and trying to catch up.

Thzumbiewitch · 11/10/2011 23:23

Oh God, I now can't make up my mind who LaRevenante is - it's either one who had secret in her name or one who had the French for rabbit in her name and I don't know whiiiiiiicccchhhhh!
miniThumb will be 4 soon (just under 2 months) and I can't quite believe it either!

Scout - when miniThumb used to do that, he ended up on the floor with the toys. Solved the problem :)

I'm having an adult-only meet up with a friend this morning - miniThumb is off with MIL and her DS is at daycare, leaving us with the blissful opportunity to talk unhindered! Yay!

mistlethrush · 12/10/2011 09:22

TW I didn't realise that you still had to make such provision for your DH. Wink

Brew and cinnamon toast? Its bucketing down with rain here, and I'm missing ds's harvest celebrations again.

Thzumbiewitch · 12/10/2011 09:30

ha! bad English on my part. I of course meant my friend's DS, not MIL's! Grin

mistlethrush · 12/10/2011 09:45

I know Grin but I did have to read it twice just to work it out !!!

Scout19075 · 12/10/2011 11:39

Thing is, though, thumb, TS was playing in the living room -- climbing on the sofa then sliding down, clambering up, getting down, wobbling when the toys were on the sofa then wobbling when they were off. Nearly did my head in.

He's a happy boy today but he has a full appointment card. We went to MrsGuiders this morning to use her computer then went to Tots (I also did my photocopying there while we were at it) then went to the shop to pick up stuff for our picnic lunch. He's napping now then we're off for picnic lunch and frolicking with some other friends, home for dinner, then off to Seniors. WHEW! I'm tired just thinking about it. That, of course, doesn't include all of the little jobs that need to be done (including sorting SS papers, stapling stuff, loading the car of kit for the meeting, etc). I'm having a ten minute pause to catch my breath.

Thzumbiewitch · 12/10/2011 11:56

Ah, that's just being awkward for the sake of it then, Scout - testing you to the max! little blighter Wink

Scout19075 · 12/10/2011 12:19

He was definitely an over-tired almost two year old last night! Grin

I'm still not 100% sure who Secrete is.... Blush

amberlight · 12/10/2011 12:37
Thzumbiewitch · 12/10/2011 12:40

oo, did I leave enough of my name behind that you recognise me, Amber? I hope so :)

Scout19075 · 12/10/2011 12:41

I'm still me! I don't think I've ever named changed. Toddler's name changed from BabyScout to ToddlerScout but that's because he's a proper toddler now (even if he will always be my baby). How are you feeling today?

amberlight · 12/10/2011 13:13

I think I'm alright with you two, Maud and Oxeye, but then I get a bit bemused.
How am I? Not entirely sure. How long do I have to think about the answer? Rushed off my feet here. And slightly Hmm at FineLad leaving his keys behind after partying in Bournemouth. The joys of teen-dom.

CMOTdibbler · 12/10/2011 13:28

MMm, soup.
Neurologist last night pronounced my arm to be mysterious, but is arranging botox of what is now labelled dystonic finger, and going on some nerve pain drugs. We are obviously a medical mystery family as dads mouth is now breaking out in ulcers every 6 days even on the steroids. His consultant says he'd never seen anything like it and is referring him on. Gah.

Music on long journey is a good idea (except mum hates the Messiah for her own reasons) - might try male voice choir cds as ds likes singing along to those.

Repetition - I cope by ticking her pet subjects off on my mental bingo card, and by using diversion tactics into things she likes talking about and which can be lengthened. Dad is happy just watching the satnav Grin

Thzumbiewitch · 12/10/2011 13:33

Slightly daft question CMOTD - is your Dad short on Vitamin C? can you try him on some Vit C tablets, see if it helps.

CMOTdibbler · 12/10/2011 14:04

I doubt he is short on vit c as he does eat a lot of fruit and veg - he certainly doesn't look scurvyish. I can try him with them though - can't hurt

mistlethrush · 12/10/2011 14:32

Amber, I've not namechanged (I might have done once or twice to go sort of seasonal but I'm not even that keen on that either) so I hope I'm also a familiar 'face'

CMot - something that ds likes too is clealry a great advantage. My parents have a Buddy Holly disc that they originally played to ds one time - now he demands it and they get to listen to it for 3.5 hrs or so of the two hundred mile journey. Funny thing is that ds says that sometimes its a lot shorter than that. And he never goes to sleep in the car Wink

amberlight · 12/10/2011 17:32

ooo yes, CMOT and MT - you're still recognisable too.

CMOTdibbler · 12/10/2011 17:45

I never namechange - somehow it feels wrong. And I confuse myself !

Buddy Holly for 3.5 hours ! Nothing against him, but once through would be quite enough. Reminds me of a 10 hour trip I took once as a teen with someone elses parents (they weren't in the car for various reasons) where they played greek folk music the whole way.

Donki · 12/10/2011 19:14

I'm sure that I am still me - my name is painted on my galvanised bucket, so changing it is unthinkable!
