Welcome aboard.

The first rule of the tea room is - No fisticuffs.
The second rule is - Put the kettle on and lets have a Brew or open a bottle of Wine if its that time of day. Pull a sofa and relax. Parents of one, more (or less) children are welcome to hop on board and chat about anything and nothing. Introduce yourself if new and if you name change give us clue please.

Unless TS has shot up to 35 lbs when you weren't looking, it should be ok. :o

Scout19075 · 05/11/2011 09:20

He was 28+ lbs at 18 months. Since he hasn't had his two year check yet and we don't have a scale (and I'm too lazy to go to the baby weigh-in) I haven't a clue what he is. I say "I can still carry him or lift him into the shopping cart (even while tantruming that he doesn't want to go)" so he can't be TOO heavy.

Jacksmania · 05/11/2011 14:42

As long as you can carry him, the hippy chick will work :)

Good morning all! It was flipping' cold and rainy at Disneylandyesterday. We queued up for the "World of Colour" and JB fell asleep while we waited for it to start. My arms and back are screaming at me today because he's bloody heavy!!! 37 pounds, maybe a little more. But at least he was warm and toasty to cuddle up to.
Just woke up (7:30 am here) and its gorgeous and sunny.
What was everybody up to today?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/11/2011 16:11

Today, I have been mainly coughing.

::Chest infection and feeling sorry for myself emoticon::

amberlight · 05/11/2011 17:15

Today, after a day in Accident and Emergency yesterday with some very annoying side effect, I've not had a bad day at all. Taken it quite easy, but got a lot of small things done. Which means I shall put on the Brew for hot drinks which are just the thing for coughings and chest infections. Hope that clears up soon, Maud.

beanandspud · 05/11/2011 21:06

Brew, Wine, Biscuit and Thanks to all who are feeling under the weather.

Hope you all feel better soon. Can I send unmumsnetty ((((hugs)))?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/11/2011 21:12

Thanks, Amber.

::thoroughly fed up now emoticon::

All hugs, Wine and Thanks gratefully received, Bean!

Scout19075 · 05/11/2011 23:09

I hope you're both resting, amber & Maud!

Just back from Bonfire Night. My Seniors ran the burgers/sausages at the village fireworks then a (Guiding) friend and I went to the pub to talk camp and generally catch up. Oh... And the Royal Mail seem to have lost my camp & holiday scheme book. I am not impressed.

Thumbwitch · 05/11/2011 23:15

I miss the fireworks! And the bonfires, and the gloves and sparklers and everything :(

Sorry to hear about chest infections and A&E visits - was that with the nosebleeds, Amber? Hope the sufferers recover soon. Thanks and Wine and [biscuits] to you both.

miniThumb is around 33lb - he's 15kg, which if you had to ask me to lift as deadweight I'd have a job, but I seem to manage him ok. :) just as well!

We had a great time last night singing the Messiah - small orchestra, but with organ and harpsichord, and our SDA Avondale College choir of about 60. It sounded fabulous, and having an SDA audience was interesting - we had the odd "Amen!!" shouted out after some of the choruses, and they all stood up for the Hallelujah chorus! Never had that before but hey, it made the hairs go up on the back of my neck. Great atmosphere!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/11/2011 23:23

At every performance of the Messiah I've been to (which admittedly isn't many), everyone has always stood up for the Hallelujah Chorus - I thought it was universal practice, but perhaps it's a thing of time and place?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/11/2011 23:24

And grr to the Royal Mail for losing Scout's precious book.

Scout19075 · 05/11/2011 23:26

MrScout (and by defult, TS) ended up helping for a while, too, so BBQ tent ended up being a family affair. TS, bless his heart, was such a good boy considering the rough day we had had and the cold and the fireworks (which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy) and being stuck on his dad's back watching the BBQ.

I'm so tired now.

Scout19075 · 05/11/2011 23:27

Maud, I do hope County give me my SS Camping Cert anyway or I will definitely not be impressed.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/11/2011 23:29

If they don't, Scout, you and I can start the Guiders' Rebellion!

Scout19075 · 05/11/2011 23:54

OMG how could I have forgotten to mention.... MrScout and I were chatting this morning and I told him I really thought we should consider getting TS a scooter for Christmas and my reasons and which ones I was looking at. We had a text from MiL this afternoon saying she had bought TS a scooter that while it was 3+ she thought it wouldn't be long before he could use it and she's very excited. It's probably not the one I was looking at Sad but kinda [happy] that we aren't the ones buying it. (That sounds odd, doesn't it?)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/11/2011 23:57

No, makes perfect sense to me! A nifty way of avoiding present overload!

Scout19075 · 06/11/2011 07:21

Funny thing is, we didn't mention it to MiL. She thought of it herself and thought "oh, Toddler would like this and Scout won't mind/wound encourage it's use."

My boys are still asleep -- I, however, have been awake since 6:45. I woke up with a numb arm/hand (the way I was sleeping), a headache and the One Direction song Beautiful Girl in my head on loop. ARGH!

Who's for Brew?

Jacksmania · 06/11/2011 17:49

Maud I hope that chest infection clears up soonest!! :(

Thumb, I second the standing up for the Hallelujah chorus thing - always been done at every Messiah performance I've been to :)

Pissing down rain here again. I have to say, rain and chilling cold was one thing I didn't expect in Southern Cal. And hence didn't pack for. Which means I'm wearing all my warm clothes in layers and am looking a bit odd colourful.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/11/2011 19:00

Smile at Jacksmania rocking the rainbow look! I know, in the general scheme of things, it's no big deal but being confined to the house is getting me down.

::glugs virtual wine::

Jacksmania · 06/11/2011 19:19

Well, as an example, yesterday I wore a purple long-sleeved cowl neck, my lime-green patterned hoodie with the periwinkle blue lining and accent stitching, a pale blue scarf I'd bought because it was so cold, and my flowered down vest which is so multicoloured it goes with everything. It's white background with blue, lime green, yellow, purple, red, brown and black flowers and vines on. I know, it sounds hideous but it's actually quite gorgeous, and you can put almost anything underneath it.
(Bottoms were jeans and brown fur-lined clogs, so quite plain compared to the top.). It probably isn't as bad as I made it out to sound, I just ordinarily wouldn't put that much colourful stuff together.

Maud, have you tried hot mustard packs or hot castor oil packs on your chest? Really clears out phlegm and helps with coughing.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/11/2011 19:23

That sounds groovy to me!

No, I haven't! How do you do it? I don't have any castor oil in the house but we have plenty of mustard.

::desperate enough to try anything::

Evening all!
