Welcome aboard.

The first rule of the tea room is - No fisticuffs.
The second rule is - Put the kettle on and lets have a Brew or open a bottle of Wine if its that time of day. Pull a sofa and relax. Parents of one, more (or less) children are welcome to hop on board and chat about anything and nothing. Introduce yourself if new and if you name change give us clue please.

hurrah for first day back sucessfully CMot!

And hurrah for positive holiday club (mc also likes going to them)

Have a Brew - never can get decent tea on the continent.

I accidentally let slip to mc what we were doing on the 31st but have somewhat down played it. He's with my MiL at the moment - we heard from him on Monday and not since Grin

mistlethrush · 26/10/2011 09:51

Mellors! [hshock]

Amber was wanting a shoulder massage herself, not to give you one, and quite why you need only to wear 'that' for a shoulder massage I don't know!!!

amberlight · 26/10/2011 10:49

Is that where my nurse's outfit went! Shock

Thzumbazombiewitch · 26/10/2011 13:04

HUrrah for successful herceptin infusion!

CMOTD - hope it's not too cold in Germany

And now - I have just had to stuff my fist in my mouth to stop myself laughing out loud because I have Graham Norton on TV here, miniThumb is sleeping in bed, and I've just seen the NMBs on the Graham Norton Show!! It's one from around January 2011, probably - Kate Hudson is on it, just pregnant, and he's showing her pictures of bad baby cakes - and there they were! [hgrin]

I could do with a neck massage if Mellors will dress himself properly again...

Jacksmania · 26/10/2011 14:55

Teaching four yoga classes this past weekend seems to have batteredmy body somewhat. Now if that was batter as in "cake batter" that would be ok (except for the part where I'd have to figure out how to bake myself without burning) but sadly it's the "slightly abused" version of battered. [hgrin]

FearfulYank is usually CheerfulYank, she visited us a tea room or two ago (she's my friend from a bunch of other threads) and then fell off again for a bit :)

Amber, so pleased you did well with the herceptin. :):):)

CMOT, how is Germland? That's what my mum and I call it.

We are going to another pumpkin patch today, since my mum is here, if the weather cooperates. Will post more pictures.

Thzumbazombiewitch · 26/10/2011 15:01

Ooo. I failed to notice CY had returned!

JM - that's a lot of yoga. I did my first bit of Zumba today - wasn't wildly inspired by the threatening cautionary page at the start of the CD, telling me that I could injure myself! [hshock] but I only did 5 mins of "sculpt and tone" with no obvious damage. As soon as I felt my neck complain I stopped (it went Out big-time last night - even yawning was painful today!)

FearfulYank · 26/10/2011 19:31

I need to go to the pumpkin patch. Sigh. We will have to go this weekend. I love doing stuff like that usually, but we are thick into renovations right now and work is crazy and my damn dog ran off and it feels like everything is falling apart at the seams and I do not want to go to the pumpkin patch.

Also DS is having friends over for the cookie decorating tomorrow and the house looks not dissimilar to this if you, you know, add piles of sawdust everywhere. Hmm only a slight exaggeration

Oh well. I'm going to let DS watch some TV while I recharge and then do some intense cleaning. Probably for the next ten hours or so. :)

Oh and hello and thanks for letting me come on your lovely thread and whine. Blush

UniS · 26/10/2011 20:43

Ahoy the tea room.

::UNiS runs along the tow path to catch up::

Hello!

:: fills the galley with haggis, shortbread and square sausage ::

Haven't been on here for a while - work has been a bit planes, trains and automobiles this week so I will pour a Wine if no one minds and try to catch up!

Hope all are well?

UniS · 26/10/2011 21:27

square sausage, fantastic, just what I needed after my cake induced sugar rush.

I am in love with i-spy books. who'd have thought 3 people could spend 2x 4 hours car journeys entertained by a pair of 2.50 books. Better value than a Ceebies magazine.

mistlethrush · 27/10/2011 10:12

Unis - which ones did you get? We've found a National Geographic comic that mistlechick enjoys - it actually has 'proper' things to read and lots of information on things like crocodiles etc - possibly a touch too difficult for boy yet, but watch out for it because its SOOOOO much better than the normal magazines available. Having said that, mc will now read his way through a copy of the Beano with great enthusiasm. Talking of which, he's got to do a book review over the hols - he thinks its got to be on one of his reading books, but there's nothing to suggest that so I'm going to see what 'interesting' book we might do a review on instead that he's quite capable of reading himself. Possibly a church mouse one. Also, for those with boys, I've just read one of Anthony McGowan's 'bare bum gang' books with mc (there's a thread that I've sort of revived to put a review on) and he really loved it - worth looking out for - cover is awful, name might put you off, but its actually really nicely written (although Mc was REALLY surprised that you could actually write 'THAT' down [hgrin]) ('does it 'really' say that - yes - look - oh yes - giggle)(we read together so he did one page I did another).

Hello Bean!

FearfulYank - its good to have a whinge every now and then with sympathetic ears around - I think most of us have done it. I always find it cathartic - but have also got some good support and suggestions too. What are you having done to the house?

Scout19075 · 27/10/2011 19:32

Warning: Selfish, self-indulgent, whiny post to commence in three...

...two...

...one....

Had an email this morning from my best friend's sister. Best friend is also Toddler's Godmother. Anyway, I knew from best friend last week that she wasn't feeling good and had a toothache. Fast forward to Friday and then the weekend and she got sent to the hospital because her face & neck swelled and she couldn't swallow. She's had oral surgery, has drains in, discovered she was anemic and has fibroids or something on her uterus. Possibly more surgery. Sad

And tonight was the last night I put my baby to bed as a one year old. I was adding things to his baby box tonight (including his hospital bracelet because, for some reason, it was on my bathroom shelf) and I had a major wobble.

I just feel blah.

amberlight · 27/10/2011 19:56

Heck...hugs....

UniS · 27/10/2011 20:33

ahh scout , have a chocolate. It won't make the world better but it might help you feel less like bursting into tears.

Amber- congratulations on your new advisor post ( I read about it elsewhere on MN) I hope you are able to make a difference for other people through that work. Would you like celebratory champagne truffle

Anyone else for teh choc box of requirement?

DH is still not home from work! unusual for him. He did phone and let me know why , not his fault. about 5 times more applicants for a job than he expected and he has to give the short-listing due diligence. He can;t do what I once saw (in a work place that shall remain nameless) 30 odd applications for a post brought into staff room, manager chucked all in the air and the ones that landed on the sofa got read.

MT - the i-spy books we had were "working vehicles" - lots of details to look for on lorries, different type/ fleets/ models of lorries, emergency services, farm and construction vehicles mainly. AND, "on a car journey" more general landmarks, urban features, emergency vehicles, roadsigns etc. been brilliant, used teh car journey one again today on a bus trip with boy and friend. kept them busy "spotting" tho friend mum told me I was cruel to ask boy to look out for blue telephone boxes.

Jacksmania · 27/10/2011 20:44

Aw shoot Scout - have more ((((HUGS))))

Thzumbazombiewitch · 27/10/2011 22:17

Those I-spy books sound like fun! I will have to get some for miniThumb at some point; he's pretty good on long car journeys at the moment but I'm sure he'll get less good as he gets older, so those will help.

Scout - Brew and sympathy - both for the wibbling and for TS's godmother. Sounds rough, hope she is ok.

UniS - hope your DH is home by now! I have heard of all sorts of interesting "whittling" methods for huge piles of applications, one guy I knew said that any CVs that went over more than one piece of paper got the application binned! Shock It's quite disturbing really - you put all this effort into your application and the person doing the selection could be employing a method as random as the one you mentioned. Sad

Starting our mothers' walking club this morning - it's not actually raining, everyone is meeting at my house at 9:30 and then we have to decide where we're going to walk to (although my house is a convenient starting point for me, it's less so for the walk!)

FearfulYank · 27/10/2011 22:34

Aw, Scout . Hope things get better for your friend soon!

Envy of your walking club, Thumbs . I should start one.

beanandspud · 27/10/2011 22:46

I know it's an hour early but 'Happy Birthday TS!!!'

BearBearBearBearBearBear

Jacksmania · 28/10/2011 00:41

Happy birthday ToddlerScout - one day before DH. Those Scorpios are pretty cute, aren't they!

Thzumbazombiewitch · 28/10/2011 07:27

Happy Birthday TS!

Our first walk was pretty good - took about 75 minutes and we covered around 6.4km (4miles) according to Google Maps. The last bit was the hilly bit - the town we live in is very hilly around the central area (where I live) but we started off going the other way where it's flatter. Possibly not ideal but if we'd done the hills to start with we might not have done so much! [hgrin]

purpleknittingmum · 28/10/2011 07:56

Happy Birthday to TS!! Yes, Scorpios are the best!! Not that I am biased!! :o

Scout19075 · 28/10/2011 12:28

Stupid intraweb ate my post!

Still feeling a bit wibbly (if I had a regular cycle I might be able to blame PMS). Toddler opened one of his presents from his Godmother just before his nap and I was almost in floods -- she had printed a "picture book about ToddlerScout" using pictures I've sent her or she's downloaded from FB. Made me a bit Sad and Smile at the same time.

Went to the toddler group for one's today -- the last time we can go though the lady running it said because TS is so calm/laid back/mild mannered we could continue to go if we wanted. Some little girl decided to use TS's overalls as her personal rag and covered him in paint. I'd normally laugh it off but it was his last pair of clean trousers (and since the dryer bit of our washer/dryer isn't working, which means I can't use the washer because it doesn't do the final spin so clothes are sopping, I was going to go the laudermat tonight) and the mum didn't say anything. Then again, the whole group time she sat there talking and let other mums chase her child with wet wipes or steer her from eating the sand/paint/toys. Poor TS, though, just stood there staring at her with the "what the heck are you doing?" look and then tried to back away but she kept going for him with her paint-covered hands.

amberlight · 28/10/2011 15:26

UniS, thanks. Not sure the Government is ready for me, but we'll see how they do.

Hi everyone else. Am I too late for the choc box of requirement if I offer to make the Brew?

Jacksmania · 28/10/2011 15:40

Never too late for the chocolate box of requirement, I'd say.

amberlight · 28/10/2011 15:41

*the surprise being that there's no toffee...
