The moving castle tea room touches down for the 29th time

Welcome to the tea room. Open to those with one child and those with more and maybe some with none ( hi dave the trucker).

This time we are heading to the mists and mellow fruitfulness of Autumn in a moving castle with a mind of its own. The roaring fire is maintained by magic and Mellors the gardener handles wine and spirits along with massage duties.

The first rule of the tea room is this
No fisticuffs.
The second is this
Put the kettle on for Brew and help yourself to a Biscuit

You do impress me, UniS!

UniS · 28/09/2011 20:00

Well DH "said" he would do them... but sticks have been in garage since sunday and hes done nowt yet.

I took this morning off " doing anything constructive" and went for a walk on the Moor. Bliss, warm sunny gentle breeze, birds, sheep, cows and no people. Tomorrow morning I'm at preschool. There a system whereby parents who wish to NOT do their turn at duty helper can pay "expenses" to someone from a list held by preschool. I am on that list. Every illittle helps towards this ski trip.

We have decided ( well mainly DH put his foot down) Ski trip Yes, Olympic cycling Yes, Italian Alps No. Narrow boat Hol we were invited on in half term , No, as we have commitments we don;t want to back out of, shame, as that would have been fun, but My parents are expecting us for a half week of near London Stuff.

Why are you making long bows??

UniS · 28/09/2011 21:00

Fancy dress ram race... need I say more.

Robin Hood Men in Tights is our teams theme this year.

www.pramrace.com/gallery/ is not our pram race ( don;t want to out myself) but a similar looking event elsewhere .

I'm very envious of your activites, UniS. Sounds fab.

I think the only thing I've ever done along those lines was Mattress Racing when I lived in Minnesota. THAT was good fun (cold, but great fun).

UniS · 28/09/2011 21:46

Mattress racing?? We need pictures.

Hello my lovely ladies! I have been too absent to try to catch up. Have just got a new computer, so its as if I'm talking to you in new clothes Grin

but it's doing that really annoying thing where the curser jumps to another place on the page and you start typing in metaphorical mid air, not sure why that happens!

Scout, dog incident sounds scarey but MT has wise words

waves to all else. Not much to report here. Loads of work, little else Confused year 1 going well I think!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/09/2011 22:55

Aha!

::clasps Oxeye to her ample bosom::

I saw a child today in the uniform of School of Oxpops and thought of you. I am beyond tired, so staggering off to bed. Good night all!

oxeye · 28/09/2011 23:00

aha! well met dear friend

if you only saw one of them it was clearly out of hours, they move mob handed in the day!

sleep tight

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/09/2011 23:01

Oh yes. I haven't been in the right place at the right time recently to see them out on manoeuvres!

Dors bien.

Stickwithit · 28/09/2011 23:12

Wave for Oxeye, hope you are getting used to new PC.

UniS your day sounds blissful. I had to work today and kept gazing out into the sunshine......

oxeye · 28/09/2011 23:24

oh yes, UniS I meant to say I want to swop your day for mine. I glimpsed the sunshine!

also I want Oxpops to have wellies at school! Heh ho not compatible with the Big Smoke!

amberlight · 29/09/2011 07:51

Pram races in tights, long bows... ah yes, it all looks absolutely normal in the tea room.

Brew anyone?

beanandspud · 29/09/2011 09:12

Brew Yes please Amber! How have you been this week?

Unis - Hurrah to ski trip!

mistlethrush · 29/09/2011 09:20

Yes please Amber! Does anyone need a top up?

I see paragraphs are on the blink today, that's going to make things interesting...

I need to have a little positive moment please... you know all the angst we've been going through with MC settling in each year and getting stuck in etc? Well, I have great hopes that his teacher has cracked it. Today he got a star for doing the 'hard sheet' of maths well (and, according to him is back with the top maths achievers - which, as he'd moved down from there into the middle during year one is fantastic in the time scale). He's also really enjoying science. We got a reading thing which identified his reading age - and we're happy with that too - he's nicely in the middle, which for a summer born boy is pretty good I think. Its such a relief!Grin

mistlethrush · 29/09/2011 09:21

Ooh paragraphs only on the blink in the writing box
but they come out like this
when you've typed them in even though you can't see them!

beanandspud · 29/09/2011 10:37

MT - That's great news about MC. What a relief! Is your report finished? Can you relax for the rest of the week?

mistlethrush · 29/09/2011 11:16

More or less!!! No, no relaxing until tomorrow - where hte office have arranaged a visit to our London office. Followed by a wine tasting Grin

Thumbwitch · 29/09/2011 15:19

MT - hurrah for MC! that's great and as well. Hope you get the report done very soon so it's all over.

Oxeye - dafty question but worth asking - do you have an optical mouse now? with a light underneath it? And are you using a pictorial mousemat? Because sometimes the optical mice and picture on mousemats just don't go together and cause the cursor to skip all over the screen. If, OTOH, you have a new laptop and a touchpad cursor, then is it at all damp? Because dampness on the touchpad/fingers also makes the cursor skip all over the screen. :)

We are back in the land of permanent internet after 3 nights of PAYG internet (Nightmare!)

Sorry to hear of any sick DC; Scout, I think you probably did just the right thing re. teens and dogs, not a good idea to be a haveago hero when you have a teeny with you.

Am going to bed soon - have been up since the (for me) unconscionable hour of 6:30am.Shock

Scout19075 · 29/09/2011 16:24

YAY for MC!

to thumb and bean and oxeye and amber -- hello!

I have decided -- never send MrScout to do the shopping/ordering of presents. How is it that I did the price comparisons and sent him the link (so he could use his work discount thingy and/or earn airmiles (all those airmiles help us get home more cheaply)) and he still got it wrong? Hmm

amberlight · 29/09/2011 18:00

Hurrah re MC!

How have I been? Alright thanks Smile Biscuit slightly hurty from bruising but it would be. Silly cough being defeated by antibiotics I think. Looking forward to going to see friends at the weekend rather than people coming to see me.

mistlethrush · 29/09/2011 19:11

I'm not going to get completely carried away, but things are looking so much more positive than last year school-wise.

I can't believe how late some of mc's school friends go to bed! MC's normally in bed for 7 (just about to go up - he's a bit late tongith) and sometimes 6.30. If it was later he'd be awful the next day! Some of them are going to bed at 9.30 or even later.

Amber, I hope that they look after you at the weekend. Can I interest you in a Wine to keep you amused this evening?

amberlight · 29/09/2011 19:15

Oh go on then! Cheers!

Scout19075 · 29/09/2011 19:55

Can I join in the Wine?
