The moving castle tea room touches down for the 29th time

Welcome to the tea room. Open to those with one child and those with more and maybe some with none ( hi dave the trucker).

This time we are heading to the mists and mellow fruitfulness of Autumn in a moving castle with a mind of its own. The roaring fire is maintained by magic and Mellors the gardener handles wine and spirits along with massage duties.

The first rule of the tea room is this
No fisticuffs.
The second is this
Put the kettle on for Brew and help yourself to a Biscuit

Amber - what's finelad doing with himself this year (apart from swanning around with his entourage of course)

amberlight · 08/09/2011 11:37

He's not sure. Just been to the careers advisory people and had a long chat with one of the people there, and they want to see a full CV so they can advise him further on short term jobs whilst he's thinking. Most of his entourage are off to Uni and I think it's just occurred to him how few of his friends are going to be around after next week.

Hello to girliefriend!
I am a Brit married to an Aussie living in Australia, so post at odd times. I have one DS, 3.9, known as miniThumb in here and still haven't given up on having #2 although it's proving difficult and sad so far. I am also old (doesn't help) but not the oldest here.Wink

For your edification, we have random clerics wandering the halls, Mellors the general factotum (who variably looks like George Clooney or Daniel Craig, depending on your fancy).
Outside we have horses, Earl and Lady Grey and the odd few bison. Guineapigs abound (although RacingPig has sadly departed :() and the NMBs are Naked Mohawk Babies, discovered on this carrot cake several tearooms ago - they are kind of like oompa loompas without the helpful aspect Grin

Mistle - I s'pose this castle could be like the moving shop from the Discworld - I just rather like the Baba Yaga hut motif!

Is oxeye planning on dropping back in, does anyone know?

So far, whenever I've been ill, miniThumb has been ill as well apart from a cold mid-August, which was just me and only lasted 3 days anyway (and really wasn't all that bad). I'd be concerned if I got really ill though - DH isn't terribly proactive in the care stakes and if I was bedridden I'd probably starve to death. Hmm

Scout19075 · 08/09/2011 13:01

Forty-five minute wait for a 2 minute nurse visit. Walk in, "hello" while I removed my sweatshirt, jab, leave. Hmm

UniS · 08/09/2011 14:24

Ho hum scout, but at least you are now jabbed and good to go when ever the paper work happens.

Scout19075 · 08/09/2011 14:46

Didn't mind the waiting -- TS played with the megablocks (though the clapping every time he put a brick on got a bit tiresome cuz, for ages, he wanted me to clap every time he put two bricks together) and I hadn't realized how long it was. I think what made me go Hmm was I mentioned how much more it stung than the first one (it's a three-jab dose) and I got blanked and the nurse turned to the computer. Oh well. It's done.

TS still napping. He went down late (due to appointment) but am wondering how long to let him sleep. He's definitely not well so needs sleep but he's been going to sleep easily/well lately by only having a 90 minute nap so am torn. Think I'll just let him go and deal with the consequences tonight.

Scout19075 · 08/09/2011 15:01

I've just looked in on TS and he's more-or-less in the same sleeping position as he was two hours ago. That's unusual for him. He did the same thing last night hardly moved in between peaks so he must really not feel well/need the sleep. Poor toddler.

amberlight · 08/09/2011 15:05

oh bless, can't be feeling well then...

Scout19075 · 08/09/2011 15:05

How are you feeling, Tee?

Thumbwitch · 08/09/2011 15:10

I remember having my Hep B jabs done for work - the first one was ok, the second one, the woman almost threw the syringe into my arm, like a dart! Bugger me, that hurt. Angry. The third one, I tried to ask her to be a bit more careful please because I am already needle phobic and got the dartboard action again! She was a bitch though. (honestly, she was).

Poor Toddler - I'd be inclined to let him sleep when he can as well, and just deal with the fallout for now - it won't be too many days and he will hopefully recover quicker if he sleeps when he needs to.

Scout19075 · 08/09/2011 15:11

Hello!

mistlethrush · 08/09/2011 15:18

TW.. one of the jabs I've had clearly hit a nerve... Dh drove me back home (45mins) with me somewhat sideways in the passenger seat wincing at every bump

Scout19075 · 08/09/2011 15:19

Yes, I'm letting him sleep. They're so adorable (and calm!) when they're sleeping, aren't they?

UniS · 08/09/2011 16:59

give me strength I am about to go and read boys lego magazine for him.

mistlethrush · 08/09/2011 17:33

Could be worse... Magic fairies for instance.

Tee2072 · 08/09/2011 18:41

Mellors, can you make me some chicken soup please? Perhaps I'll be able to keep something down by the time it is ready.

I am very ill. I am also enjoying the sounds of MrTee giving LCT a bath. They are having great fun as I lie in bed.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/09/2011 18:45

There's a Lego magazine? They really do think of every way to get children hooked and constantly wanting yet more goodies everything. Mind you, The Girl's reading of choice is any sort of mail order catalogue.

beanandspud · 08/09/2011 19:06

Tee, I hope that you are feeling better and are up to having some soup later. And also that TS recovers. There seems to be a lot of nasty bugs in the Tearoom at the moment - maybe a change of environment will help.

I'll pop back later when I've done a few jobs otherwise the evening will disappear in a haze of mn. Although I'm not technologically very capable in the habit of posting photos I have added a photo of Small Bean in his first kilt today ::very proud mummy and daddy emoticon::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/09/2011 19:09

Ah, Bean, he's so handsome!

UniS · 08/09/2011 19:38

smart wee boy you got there bean. DS had a family heirloom kilt when he was small, he'd out grown it by 3 tho and I haven't justified getting him another. Looked fab teamed up with a black T-shirt.

CMOTdibbler · 08/09/2011 19:48

Sympathies UniS - I had to read ds's Star Wars comic to him this evening.

Maud, you wouldn't have any advice on what compost to repot a venus fly trap into would you ? Ds's is looking like it needs a new one - must be all the lovingly caught insects he feeds it

AandO · 08/09/2011 20:03

Ooh, nice castle!

Tee - We all had swine flu two winters ago and for nearly a month we did nothing but watch dvds, we had no other choice. It's sometimes just the way it's got to be.

Welcome MissPP and Girlie. I have one ds, he'll be five shortly, he just started school!

Ok, going to read over other posts now!

MissPricklePants · 08/09/2011 20:04

well dd seems to get every bug going at the moment!and then i get it so when we are ill we have lazy dvd days. It is just me and her (im a single mummy) so when we aren't well we do nothing!hope toddler feels better soon scout!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/09/2011 20:05

Well, did you eva? It seems there are several websites devoted to the delights of the Venus flytrap. This one offers a recipe for compost. Mind you, in looking for this I found another that said you shouldn't feed it dead flies!

Donki · 08/09/2011 20:06

UniS - sympathy here too. I had to read the lego magazine to the Young Donk last night at bed time.....
