Turkish Tearoom? Turkish Bath? Anyway, a Turkish delight awaits...

Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

Have the cut-outs been off on their own holiday somewhere? They seem to have been missing for a bit - and some of them seem to have picked up some interesting additions.

MC at sports camp - loving it - get complained at when I arrive too early to pick him up Grin. Have booked him in for the swimming coaching as an extra for the next two weeks - so he'll be going 9 times over the 5 days - I think the washing machine is going to be busy - and I'm glad he has more than one pair of swimming trunks! Should help for when we go on music course and there's a pool available every afternoon.

AandO · 27/07/2011 11:36

Hi!

Maud - I also went to harry potter last night!

LittleO has always called me mama. I used to call myself mommy (my parents are English and from the Midlands so that's what I called my mom), but never took it up. When dh is around LittleO sometimes calls me by my name as he hears dh doing so. He always has a silly grin on his face when he does it though! He sometimes calls me babes, or sweetie, or my love and my darling Grin! I answer to all of these names!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 11:44

It means first among equals, Mistle - it's an expression usually used to refer to the Prime Minister's status in cabinet.

What did you think of the film, AandO? It's really not my cup of tea but Girl and Bloke both loved it. Your other thread is still bubbling, by the way!

mistlethrush · 27/07/2011 11:50

Grin I had actually worked it out... Latin rusty, but its still fairly logical - and combined with a smattering of Italian, not too dissimilar in many respects. Anyway, I could gather what it meant from your use of it.. I mean, whereelse would be appropriate, don't want him skulking at the back (and I'm not sure anyone with 'that' nose could skulk anyway? Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 12:03

Lettuce, pea and lovage soup now on the Aga. Have we eaxhausted the supply of lewd rolls?

mistlethrush · 27/07/2011 12:13

No, mc likes baking too much for that. And modelling. Fair few rockets as normal - but I think he's also done something approximating to a Land Rover for Amber (its that lump with the 4 blobs on the outside Amber) although it might have been a tractor - difficult to tell now the bread has risen and been cooked.

amberlight · 27/07/2011 13:08

Thanks, MC! Smile

mistlethrush · 27/07/2011 14:54

Wonderful soup Maud - a taste of summer!

Amber - how's things? I hope the Landy/tractor roll wasn't a bit too much of a good thing.

amberlight · 27/07/2011 16:21

Landy roll ideal, thanks. Made it some wheels out of the spare carrots and twiglets...

Things are eventful thanks. Off on hols to Welsh borders in a couple of days time (dh, friends, offspring of friends). Much needed.

How are you? And everyone else?

mistlethrush · 27/07/2011 16:54

We can wave at the weekend then - am visiting friends (with mistle chick) in the depths of midwales somewhere.... Its the sort of place that you get approximately in the right place then have to ring up to get talked 'down' Grin

Tee2072 · 27/07/2011 17:35

Hi girls!

Just popping in to say hi. GrannyTee is running us ragged with fun things to do and LCT is loving it! Too bad he's not sleeping any better.

I'll try to catch up later!

UniS · 27/07/2011 19:37

school holiday continues chilled out and crafty. Today we made a mini beast hotel ( plastic bottle, bits of bamboo and card, outside is yellow and black stripes!, wings to be added so it will look like (???) a bee) . And then found out there is NOT an "item made from recycling" class in the village show in 3 weeks time. BAH HUMBUG. might enter it in the "any other craft" class instead. Boy also interested in decorating a hair band ( with feathers he says ), flower arranging and cup cakes... at 5p an entry I shall let him enter pretty much what he likes, it gives us projects to work on for weeks.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 19:43

5p an entry? Ours is 30p, as best I can remember. What a swizz.

UniS · 27/07/2011 21:22

5p for Under 16s in any class. 10p for adults. Prizes are 50p, 30p, 20p.

There are about 8 children's only classes but Boy seems to want to enter some of the open classes as well. Am trying to get DH to enter the men only "easy cake from given recipe" class, last year IIRC no one entered.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 22:52

Oh, our prizes are much bigger than that. I once won a total of £4!

beanandspud · 27/07/2011 23:14

Evening ladies!

Maud and Unis - your village shows sound like good fun. I would love to enter DH in the 'easy cake from a recipe' category - he's actually a pretty good cook but won't deviate from the recipe iykwim. Is there a '100 things to do with courgettes and rhubarb' stall? I could do with some inspiration. I think it's rhubarb jam next!

Tee - glad you are having a good time with GnT. Here's hoping that you are getting a break too.

Amber and MT - good luck in Wales - will your paths cross?

I am counting the days until DH goes back to work. I am so used to working at home on my own and having somewhere else there all the time is very weird. It's making me quite grumpy (and I'm not usually a particularly grumpy person).

infact · 27/07/2011 23:52

What a lovely Turkish tearoom? and nice to see the tearoom gang! x

My sparkly name is inspired by Missinfact who insists on starting nearly all sentences with "In fact?" e.g. "In fact my favourite drink is milk?"

UNiS - I am in love with your school holiday fun!!! I think we will give the mini beast hotel a go sometime over the next few weeks too. GENIUS idea!

Unserp - any news on racingpig? Sad

maud - with winnings of that grandeur the champagne is undoubtedly on you tonight.

Oxeye - Your "pardon" story made me laugh my slippers off!!! My MIL always goes "WHAAAAAAAAAAT??!!??" and I instantly think "Eeeeek - She iz wew dissin' me.." .. then I remember that she is posher than me and that is just how posher people say pardon and then I simply politely repeat my sentence but this time a bit louder. GrinWink

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 23:59

Hello, infact. Have we met before? I have been drinking my winnings - Wine Wine Wine - and so am not at my best tonight. Hic.

oxeye · 27/07/2011 23:59

Infact, glad I made you laugh! I'm sure I know you Confused
bean, how are the mushrooms? Sorry Mr Bean is maddening you when the poor chap is on hols!

we're on hols in the rain. It is still good
Mistle glad MC is having fun, you all make us sound so lazy. We didn't get up until 10:30 this morning, reading in bed

There are no Village Shows near OxTowers. I feel cheated.

UniS loving your creative passtimes!

Will go and see Harry Potter soon, the last one was boring really...

infact · 28/07/2011 00:01

yes, yes, yes? under a beautiful cherry tree...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/07/2011 00:05

Oxeye, you could enter our village show. In fact, I insist that you do.

Cherry tree?

::racks her poor addled brain::

::mmmmm::

oxeye · 28/07/2011 00:13

ahh, we did actually do proper meeting and everything and swung on the cherry tree didn't we ::taps nose::

I WANT to enter your Village Show and I want to NOW Maud Grin

oxeye · 28/07/2011 00:14

::clasps infact to her ample bosom::

::remembers it's Maud that does that::

hello Infact, how's tricks?

oxeye · 28/07/2011 00:16

MAUD if you're still feeling a little distrait there's a clue in the original Infact story.....

::Oxeye nearly falls over with her cleverness tonight::

::comes back into room with deerstalker and spy glass a la Sherlock holmes, or more likely Inspector Cluseau::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/07/2011 00:16

Oh yes, we were really swinging.

::channels the Rat Pack::
