Turkish Tearoom? Turkish Bath? Anyway, a Turkish delight awaits...

Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

Mistle - have PMd you. :)

amberlight · 06/09/2011 15:48

MT, not even the top scientists know what gravity is, so good luck with that hypothesising Grin

UnSerp, I see Mellors is standing by with a nice massage and a hot drink. Or a hot massage and a nice drink. One of the two anyway.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/09/2011 17:56

Where is Professor Brain Cox when you need him, eh?

Are there any other suitable schools within easy travelling range, Mistle?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/09/2011 17:56

Or even Brian.

mistlethrush · 06/09/2011 18:34

Have Drs appt booked for Mon pm (just for me) with nice lady Dr I go and see fairly regularly - really wanted the one that actually knows MC a bit but couldn't see him until the end of the week and if I'm going to get something going, I want to start the ball rolling sooner rather than later.

I think I might get behind Unserp in the queue for Mellor's attention....

Scout19075 · 06/09/2011 19:52

Sad for all of the poorly children and unhappy & unwell tea room members.

Wine anyone?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/09/2011 20:26

::Feeling faint::

Yes, please.

Humphrey in the Happy Horticulture thread is a lovely woman but she has just given me way too much information about pig slaughtering and butchery.

::Bins the porkie scratchings and goes in search of twiglets::

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 06/09/2011 20:30

I will be starting work on the day Wriggle is starting school. so won't be able to be involved (or enjoy the peace). No RL support, but always think - having learnt rather more about AP's experiences at a corresponding age - that I have nothing to worry about. Hmm

I do write things down for AP, constantly, but how do I help her to remember to read it????

Wish I could think of something to help Mistle ... I have everything ready to send the long delayed parcel, but I am such a rubbish reader that I can't think of anything acceptable to include .. Blush ... obviously I mean that I wish I could think of something to help with MistleChick.

Scout19075 · 06/09/2011 20:45

Mmmm, my first loaf of bread in my new bread machine has just finished. I just made a sandwich loaf (not exciting/creative) so we have bread for toasties for lunch tomorrow. Grin It smells wonderful. I'm going to try another type overnight or tomorrow. Also broke out my replacement slow cooker today AND started my first batch of Christmas puddings.

MrScout is back to work tomorrow (he's been working from home the last two days) and Toddler and I are off to YOUT. We're going to get my M'siL birthday present from the YOUT Printing House store. We never go wrong with getting her something from there. Think I might also go to Lakeland and JL since I have vouchers.

TS and I went swimming today. I almost forgot how much Toddler and I enjoy swimming and our "class." I've also been using the pool as a guide to see (roughly) how tall TS is. He's grown over the summer holidays! He's gone from standing tip-toes at the deepest part and having the water to between his chin and lips during the last wee of term to standing flat-footed and the water up to the lowest part of his neck. Shock

Scout19075 · 06/09/2011 22:45

Where are we going next?

beanandspud · 06/09/2011 22:50

Good evening Tearoomers!

Haven't been here for a few days, sorry to hear that small people and grown-ups aren't well. Would Brew and Wine help at all?

Scout - I'm very impressed with your Christmas puddings in September. It's one of my favourite jobs but won't get done until the end of the month. Have a good shopping day tomorrow.

Only one more working day before holidays! Looking forward to some quality time with DH and Small Bean.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 06/09/2011 23:01

Maud, this is why Wriggle turned vegetarian. Saw the reality of where meat comes from on neighbouring farm.

Yes, where are we going next?? Not one tiny inkling, I'm afraid. Somewhere comforting and autumnal? Could the whole thread disappear into the priest hole, or would that lead to strange anomolies in the reality of the tea room?

UniS · 06/09/2011 23:12

DO we go back to teh Castle and it many turrets and stairways to hide priest holes in? also a roaring fire and tapestry wall hangings to keep teh drafts out. Could have a few big hairy ( but non allergen bearing) hounds about the place.

mistlethrush · 06/09/2011 23:41

Sounds perfect Unis.

Unserp - I'm still to finish my package for Unis - was looking for a gardening book that dealt with pruning... found one in a 2nd hand bookshop then looked at the price and decided that it was Way above the required limit!

1st day went well according to the teacher - and not particularly badly according to MC - so, hopeful. Still going to persist with the Drs and get referred etc though - even if we start off OK - I think I need some help so that I can cope and have a better chance of helping mc

Jacksmania · 07/09/2011 00:24

I almost fell off this Tea Room again Shock

Sorry for absence again. How is everyone?

News from the West Coast: Jack had "open house day" at preschool today and officially starts on Thursday. We met his preschool teachers and he got to play in the classroom for a bit and everyone was incredibly nice and very understanding and supportive when I said that he sometimes gets separation anxiety and that he can be a bit "individual" at times and doesn't always want to do circle time or eat when everyone else is eating. Which are issues at daycare. Cross the fingers for me, everyone, that he ends up loving it and thriving there. I'm just nervous because he struggles at daycare on Mondays, and I hope that preschool will be a better experience for him and maybe help him cope better at daycare. He'll be going Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 - 11:30. Is it small of me that I'm glad I'm not the one who has to do the drop-off for preschool? I hate the tears and wobbles on Mondays when I have to take him to daycare, but Tues and Thurs are DH's days home with him so he'll be taking him to preschool and if he's wobbly for the first few weeks I am so glad I don't have to deal with that, too. This summer's been hard in lots of ways.

I will now read back and see what's up with everyone else.

mistlethrush · 07/09/2011 09:20

Hello JM, nice to see you - how's the teaching going????? Grin

Hope that smallJack enjoys his first day.

beanandspud · 07/09/2011 10:19

Is there anyone is here that does ironing? Mellors? One of those NMBs?

I keep staring at the increasing pile and hoping that it might just magically disappear. It doesn't. Even when I prod it gently it doesn't get any smaller. I think I can see where my evening is going...

Tee/Unserp - how are you both today?

mistlethrush · 07/09/2011 10:23

Bean - you should take my attitude to ironing - I try to buy clothes that don't need ironing - and only iron those that really do (like the linen mix trousers I've worn this summer which really have to be ironed Grin). None of MC's clothes get ironed - he's warm enough to get any crinkles out in a few minutes when he puts them on. School shirts - non-iron ones are great! If DH wants an ironed shirt he knows where the iron lives. Although I am going to have to get the iron out to iron MC's karate uniform for his grading at the weekend Hmm

Thumbwitch · 07/09/2011 10:27

Ha, MT really is me! I also hang all my washing up to dry to minimise creasing; all DH's shirts go straight onto hangers and he irons the ones he feels need it.
Apart from that, everything else gets folded up and put away - if when I take it out, it really does need ironing, that's when it gets it.

Amazingly, I have never had an ironing pile Grin and feel Soooooo much better and freer for it :)

mistlethrush · 07/09/2011 11:08

hehehehe TW! I agree with the hanging up. I also like the tops that are meant to be 'crumpled' - I've even got a favourite at the moment that you screw up to dry to ensure the creases go in properly....

beanandspud · 07/09/2011 11:11

How did I get to this age without discovering tops that are meant to crease?

::falls over::

Jacksmania · 07/09/2011 15:24

:o that's exactly my attitude to ironing - I try to buy clothes that don't need it!

Yoga teaching - starting for real this Sunday. I've substituted for another teacher once or twice and it went off reasonably well, but I'm nervous enough to dream about it re: starting to teach my own class this Sunday.

How is everyone this morning?

UniS · 07/09/2011 17:39

well, boy went to tea with a friend, its been raining and I've wasted my afternoon watching Tv ( you tube). I think this counts as good use of me time don;t you?

Scout19075 · 07/09/2011 18:59

Semi-productive afternoon at YOUT. I forgot, though, how much I hate driving there.

amberlight · 07/09/2011 19:16

'Evening all.
I'd be happy with a castle as the next tea room.
Off out in a few mins but thought I'd wave at people before I rush off...
