Turkish Tearoom? Turkish Bath? Anyway, a Turkish delight awaits...

Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

Did someone mention Bollywood? .

UniS · 24/07/2011 22:21

Boy calls DH and I by our names, I like it as it annoys MiL. I call MY mother, ma, mum or mother as the mood suits. DHs mother however dislikes anything but mum, however she hasn;t been complaining when boy calls her gran instead of granny.

Our 1st childfree weekend in 5 years went well. we managed to fit in a number of things we could not have done with boy in tow. including seeing a play, going for a very long walk ( 13 miles) at the drop of a hat ( shall we go to X, when, now, OK) and attending a party that didn't start till 11pm and was still going strong at 2am when we left. Curry at midnight was much appreciated, we had managed to only have a couple of rounds of sandwiches each all day.

AandO · 24/07/2011 22:39

UniS that sounds fab!!

Erm...I have a thread that I would appreciate some advice on. It's about whether to stay having an only or not. I know that many tearoomers don't have an only by choice alone and so I don't know if it might offend/upset, but for those that are content in their only child life I would really appreciate some feedback. It's in parenting. I'll get the link and post it in a sec. Thanks.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/07/2011 22:55

I have put a long and rambling post there, AandO, but UniS said it more succinctly.

Good night all!

UniS · 25/07/2011 16:20

warm in here isn;'t it. I'm off to loll in a hammock in some shade.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/07/2011 20:45

::Follows UniS to the hammock grove::

UniS · 25/07/2011 21:02

still lolling.
someone send an nmb over here to peel grapes would you?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/07/2011 21:06

I'm hoping the megapixies might swing my hammock (that's not a euphemism, by the way).

UniS · 25/07/2011 21:07

Good swinging. not to fast or high, well trained megapixie you found there maud.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/07/2011 21:12

There's hundreds of 'em. Shall I send some over to you?

Tee2072 · 25/07/2011 21:12

::curls up in a hammock::

Cocktail?

beanandspud · 25/07/2011 21:14

Can I join you all? This is most relaxing. Mr Bean is still off work and is driving me mad at home all day!

beanandspud · 25/07/2011 21:17

Maud - I have just posted on Gardening but don't suppose you know anything that will get rid of mushrooms in the lawn? Preferably something that doesn't also wipe out 3year olds.

UniS · 25/07/2011 21:21

cocktail, why yes, that would be nice.

Mellors is standing by to amuse us with some songs accompanied by his banjolele .

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/07/2011 21:38

Oh, UniS, that is a work of genius. I listened to Straight Out Of Compton Surrey too.

Bean - A quick search of the Royal Horticultural Society website suggests there's not much you can do, but there's some advice here and here. Removing the mushrooms and binning them may be your best option.

beanandspud · 25/07/2011 21:44

Thanks Maud. I am slightly afraid that might be the only option.

mistlethrush · 26/07/2011 10:43

I followed the breadcrumbs - luckily not all eaten. Must have been a dodgy or very stale batch of rolls.

Racing - sorry to hear about RP. I had GPs when I was little - when they escaped they found their way back home very easily - but neighbours cat too fat to catch them, but big enough to stop any other cat venturing near. Sad

MC was, I am pleased to say, very good on holiday for the most part. Couple of short words required, but that was due to tiredness and overexcitement. However, we had the Sunday from hell - theoretically a nice family day out in the sun was completely spoiled by him and we all came home cross. He has been banned from watching any television and is instead (happily) working his way through some worksheets (maths) - although he's at sports camp all day anyway.

UniS, I thought it was charming when Boy referred to you by name, particularly when he added on your surname for added emphasis or to differentiate. MC called me by my name and often tells people what it was. He has reverted to Mum or mummy most of the time, although occasionally comes out with 'mama' (not said in the posh way) which I absolutely detest and refused to answer to. Grin

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/07/2011 14:31

MC, could you pm me your address? I know you have done it before, but everything got out of hand, lost, confused and postponed almost to extinction. What is your favourite colour to wear?

Wriggle calls me by my name; I have no idea why, although she alternates with 'Mummy' or 'Maman'. Judging from her friends, it seems to be a phase they go through and, if you don't stamp it out, it sticks. Some of my friends were very Shock and Hmm, but I don't mind either way.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/07/2011 14:31

MC? I mean MT, of course.

oxeye · 27/07/2011 00:05

::staggers in carrying cut out George Clooney, hooker pipe, cocktail, turkish rug, apple tea and cheese::

How lovely Mary! great to find you all. Sorry by extended absences, life been a bit crazy

Big Sad Sad Sad re Racing Pig I cannot believe he has just gone...can he at least stay here? How is Wriggle? Who will she now carry in her bucket?

Catita, good good luck with the move and the job hunt it sounds so very hopeful for the first time in ages

Scout good luck with camp

PKN sorry to hear DD is still tough, I remember you posting before

Festivals - would love to go. We were prevented by spotty OxPox boy. I hear Maverick is very good and child friendly in Norfolk, not been though

I say sofa, loo, call my mum mum, mummy or ma. OxBoy calls me mummy, mama or my full name (first and second) and often followed by my age too. Tends to name me my name if with friends doing the same. He can perfectly mimic my phone answering voice too! He calls a loo a toilet which I hate and try to gently manage but I couldn't stand "pardon" for "what". To my shame I found myself asking Oxpoppins not to tell him to say Pardon. It was one of those (very many) moments when one has to face up to the full horror of your prejudices while parenting....

oxeye · 27/07/2011 00:06

sorry, getting too long a post. Tee hope GnT is clearing up things well! Or have you got her playing with LCT while you clear...

bean am aiming to join you in the hammock!

AandO will look at your post

::clasps Oxeye to her ample bosom::

Long time no see, my dear!

::Looks fondly at the now rather battered and scuffed cardboard George::

oxeye · 27/07/2011 00:40

::grapples with Maud's stays and gives her a good old hug back::

Ah yes, I have been well I'm not sure what or where I've been, but not managing to do nice normal things like posting here Grin

::pats George fondly and places him next to the Daniel Craig and Wesley Snipes cut outs::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 11:24

Drinks and snacks of requirement are on the Turkish sideboard.

We went to see Harry Potter last night and saw a trailer for Potiche.
