Turkish Tearoom? Turkish Bath? Anyway, a Turkish delight awaits...

Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

Recently back from the deep, dark wilds known as north Norfolk. Sssoooooo tired but.... I did "pass" my Senior Section Program part of my camping license. Grin Not that there was doubt, mind, and I already hold the camping qualification for Guides, but it was nice to pass/have positive comments none-the-less.

Off to shower then catch up. Is there any Wine on offer?

beanandspud · 29/07/2011 21:32

Scout - welcome back to you as well and congratulations and Wine.

Did TS have a good time too?

AandO · 29/07/2011 22:28

Welcome Goth and Stick, and welcome back CMOT and SCout! Was the weather nice for camping?

I have a kitten walking on my keyboard so there may be the odd bit of nonsense in this post Grin!

Scout19075 · 29/07/2011 23:16

Think TS had a good time. He certainly liked being outside and all of the attention he got. Grin Weather dodgy/uncertain at times but all-in-all all good. My Seniors bought me a present -- a toy yellow duck that quacks. I was (still am) very touched.

Nan-in-Law died this week while we were at camp. Not unexpected given the events of last week and, am in some ways, surprised she lasted as long as she did post stroke. Funeral is this week. Never been to a British funeral (am assuming it is a non-church funeral, otherwise church funerals would be, I assume, similar to those at home).

Off to bed -- oh the luxery of a pillow!

Catitainahatita · 29/07/2011 23:17

Welcome back wandering returning travellers and new one.
I shall be a wandering traveller from the 14 August. That is Moving Day. Aah. At least we now have somewhere to live and a school for Kittenito.
I am in two minds about what I feel; on the one hand I am pleased we are leaving this dangerous corner of Mexico, but depreessed on the other because it doesn't mean we won't be coming back next year and I really really don't want to. I think I might start playing the lottery everyday with the hope I can win millions and then not be tied to my job here.

Catitainahatita · 29/07/2011 23:24

New ones sorry!

oxeye · 30/07/2011 02:47

Welcome Goth and Stickwithit! Wine aplenty here for the weekend. Don't worry about the "in jokes" they will make sense and probably aren't funny anyway!

We are all just nice chatty mums - don't worry about having or sticking at one we have even had births during the life of this tearoom (glances at Catita!)

CMOT and Scout glad hols/ camping were good

Amber, I will never clasp your blue bosoms but I do salute you Grin

Tee I don't think I have ever deep cleaned anything in my life....I am torn between horror and envy!

AandO is the kitten new?

Glad Chick is enjoying camp, Oxboy isn't really made of such stern stuff- he wanted to sew with me today Unis but I didn't let him, now I feel mean!

Steeplearningcurve · 30/07/2011 02:53

Can anyone join? I suspect dd will be an only due to circumstances and I'm a bit sad

oxeye · 30/07/2011 02:58

of course anyone can join! welcome, Steep, have Wine. this is great, three new people in a day! You can all skip into the tearoom together
I am sorry, however, if you are having a tough time reconciling your family life/ family building - you will find many sympathetic ears here. How old is your dd?

Scout19075 · 30/07/2011 08:17

Brew anyone?

I'm Scout. ToddlerScout (TS for short) turned 21 months while we were away at Seniors/Guide camp. I'm the other part of the American contingent living in the UK. I've always done Girl Scouts/Guides (as a girl and an adult volunteer leader) so am often moaning or off on adventures.

TS had a good week, I think. Lots of outside, fresh air, new foods/tastes/flavors and attention. He, too, "earned" the challenge the Seniors did and I now have several new badges to sew on his blanket and mine. We got home really late for him (delayed coach, unloading kit and girls, then a delayed MrScout coming to collect us since he, too, got caught in the traffic and yes, MrScout was at camp, too and dinner) so TS needs his post-camp bath this morning. I can't wait. I did shower him once during the week but the weather was so grey/wet/cool that I didn't want to do it too often since it was a trek from the shower block to our tent and we lived outside for the week. He doesn't seem worse for it but we all know how TS loves water!

Think today will be spent at the Guide Hut airing out damp tents, pulling cooking equipment to be brought home for a better scrub/deep clean and putting away what kit we can. What I really fancy is a wander around Ye Ol' University Town and having a warm beverage that doesn't have the distinctive wood smoke flavor....

Tee2072 · 30/07/2011 08:50

Morning all and welcome new members!

I'm the other half of the US contingent in the UK here in the Tea Room. My son, LowerCaseTee (LCT) is 25.5 months and this week being spoiled rotten by his grandmother. Grin

Our pram has another flat! Shock This one caused by a gash into the tire itself. Shock It seriously looks like someone took a knife to it! Perhaps LCT is in a gang at nursery? Grin

So off to the pram shop and a few other errands and the a date Shock with MrTee to the movies this afternoon. Grin

Steeplearningcurve · 30/07/2011 09:07

Oxeye- thanks for the welcome. Got cut off last night. DD is 12 weeks so only tiny!

Tee2072 · 30/07/2011 09:42

OOH, Tea Room Baby!!!! Can we see a picture? I understand if you don't want to!

Steeplearningcurve · 30/07/2011 09:47

No photos on my phone Sad

She is very cute (though I would think that!)

beanandspud · 30/07/2011 11:26

Tee - I completely mis-read your post and thought it was another pram in your flat! My mind went into overdrive thinking there was something you were trying to tell us!!! Obviously I hadn't had my morning coffee.

The boys have just gone out for a walk together, the kettle is on and there are chocolate cupcakes this morning. Brew anyone?

And welcome to Steeplearning curve. Congratulations! Enjoy the time, as you have no doubt heard many times it goes so, so quickly and before you know it you have a toddler-with-attitude instead.

Jacksmania · 30/07/2011 16:23

Hello gothanne (very glad to see you, how are you?) stickwithit and mummy of very new baby, will pop in again soon.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 30/07/2011 21:45

Hello, all, especially new people. All are welcome here.

Haven't visited really this week as we have been very busy. The week is not ending well - see this thread Sad and I am tired, very hungry and irritable. If Wriggle would go to sleep I could have supper, but she is overtired to the extent that she is emitting random trainwhistles, which should be funny ....

Am very Blush that Infact knows me, therefore I obviously know her (or him if it is the trucker called Dave), but can't work out who it is. You don't own a red-spotted oilcloth, do you?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/07/2011 22:18

Hello everyone. How lovely to have some new people around. As I see it,the only people not welcome here would be the ones who turn up to say ""you have blighted your child's life for ever and a day because you haven't given them a sibling". Apart from that, anything goes.

::Looks fondly at cardboard George Clooney::

More Wine anyone?

Scout19075 · 30/07/2011 22:19
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/07/2011 22:37

Here you are! Would you like some Twiglets a la mode to go with that?

beanandspud · 30/07/2011 22:43

Unserp - Hope Wriggle is now asleep, it is so frustrating when they are so tired - I must have gone up to Small Bean last night five times and he was much the same. Hope it is good news with the rabbit, fingers crossed.

Wine yes please!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/07/2011 23:00

::Pours more Wine for Bean and anyone else in need::

oxeye · 30/07/2011 23:13

oh Racing I know that Wriggle moment when they are being sort of objectively sweet but all you want to do is fling a cushion or something worse at them! I try to think "oh when I am an old curmudgeon of 65 I will wish these moments back" but knowing there will be regrets in my future does not tend to stop me shouting in my present.... hope you get food soon...

oxeye · 30/07/2011 23:14

Steep if your baby is only 11 weeks old you must be on a real roller coaster right now, without having additional sadness re other or not other children - hope you are being gentle to yourself and with yourself...

Thumbwitch · 31/07/2011 01:47

Oooh, found you. I was offline for 3 days and lost the thread (and nearly the plot)

However - I believe I recognise Infact as being a lovely expatter with a dairy-based DD - am I right?

Welcome new friends! Come in, sit down, have some turkish delight or tea, whichever is your preference. And then Wine too of course.

No sign of racingpig then? That is :(.

So much to remember, I can't remember any of it for more than 5 secs any more so will just wave to everyone and hope that you are mostly well and happy in your lives. Will keep up better in future.
