Tearoom 25 - Benvenute a Venezia!

1001 replies

thumbwitch · 08/04/2011 00:28

YOu find us this time in a glorious palazzo in Venice, near to St. Mark's square, and on the water. With gondolas and vaporetti in abundance to transport us around to the various sights etc.

The palazzo itself of course has marble floors and fabulous murano chandeliers but aside of that we have the usual distressed chintz comfy sofas, assorted animals, bishops in their corner, priesthole for emergencies and a single solitary aspidistra in a bomb-proof glass cage to protect it from the ravages of a certain Canadian.

All are welcome - drop by for a cuppa, a glass of something stronger and a chat and relax in the safe and kind surroundings here.

Cin cin! Wine

Hi All!

JM glad JB is settling in!

Unis, can you make all of LCT's costumes in the future? I'm rubbish at that sort of thing!

Have fun thumb!

Haven't done much today except walk to the Really Really Big Tesco and get the groceries. It's a bit farther away than our regular Tesco, but LCT needed some t-shirts and I knew they'd be cheap there! I was right!

::places high tea on the sideboard::

Enjoy!

OnesDigitusPrimusMagicalis · 26/04/2011 15:39

just twirling my Royal Wedding name - it's not as good as JM's but I quite like it. [bugrin]

amberlight · 26/04/2011 15:52

That tea's too high. I'm not allowed on ladders. Can someone pass me down a cucumber sandwich and a small fancy please?

Tee2072 · 26/04/2011 16:31

Sorry, Amber. ::hands down requested items:: Milk in your tea?

amberlight · 26/04/2011 16:42

Ooo yes please!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/04/2011 18:31

Have turned on laptop to prepare for school tomorrow. Sad

Hello to everyone and I hope you had a lovely Easter. I will read back at some point (when I have done a few lesson plans!)

HerHighnessTheWestCoastLotus · 26/04/2011 19:08

Ugh, UnSerpent, that is not a fun enough use of the laptop!!

I doubt Wine would help with your lesson plans but I'm going to offer it anyway [bugrin]

HerHighnessTheWestCoastLotus · 26/04/2011 19:08

Oh... the bunnies are gone! Poo.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/04/2011 19:40

But Wine is always welcome!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/04/2011 20:25

Did I hear mention of Wine?

Now, help me with my dilemma. Should I, as someone for whom the royal wedding is a big yawn (although I wish them well), adopt a wedding name or not? I've only just taken off my Easter bonnet!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/04/2011 20:28

Have you seen the crown emoticons?

[csmile] [cgrin] [cbiscuit]

UniS · 26/04/2011 20:31

they look rather like Max as king of teh wild things.

Tee2072 · 26/04/2011 20:34

Maud, I am not taking a wedding name. Of course, I also did not take an Easter name! I do, on occasion, take a Christmas name!

[cgrin]

I like the crown. Although I agree with UniS!

MaryBS · 26/04/2011 20:34

No bunnies? Was it just a case of bubunnic plague then? Wink

MaryBS · 26/04/2011 20:35

Btw, my maiden name is Middleton, but no relation afaik...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/04/2011 20:45

Yes, Unis is spot-on about Max!

teafortwo · 26/04/2011 21:42

Oh yes... I know what you mean Maud. I too feel a bit ho hum but then again any excuse for a party... but... ho hum!!!

I told Milk about the wedding and she was a bit Hmm.

"Are they actually real or are you just making this up Mummy?" She asked which immediately stopped me pondering over whether to buy her this (when it is in the sale Wink)...

www.vandashop.com/product.php?xProd=8969&xSec=466

Milk's American teacher is VERY VERY excited about the wedding. She LOVES Diana and has bought a book about the upcoming wedding which I suspect I may get shown!!! Grin (sweet)

Interestingly our local slightly batty but -very kind chemist is a bit HO HUM about the wedding too. This is because she thinks Wills should have chosen me because I'm much nicer than Kate... I am not quite sure when Kate visited her pharmacy last but obviously she wasn't nearly as polite as I am!!! [cgrin]

Scout19075 · 26/04/2011 21:55

I'm facinated by the wedding but not because I give a hoot who Wills marries but the the pomp & circumstance and the formality of it all. Otherwise, really, it's just an ordinary CofE wedding ceremony and I've had one of those so been there, done that, have the facinator to prove it. (MrScout is CofE, I'm, as I mentioned, RC, but there was enough paperwork/money getting me here legally that getting married in an RC church would have been even MORE papers/time/money(?) that I said as long as I was married in a church by a (male) priest I was happy.)

Scout19075 · 26/04/2011 22:09

Oh, should mention TS's bum is looking SOOOO much better and obviously feels better as he's back to laughing/chatting when getting changed. I think the sore bum was a combo of orange juice (never had it before as he avoids oranges/manderins/satsumas like the plague) and molar. He's definitely cutting a third one. I have already changed nappies onces due to sore bums -- when Pampers changed last year poor TS's bum went nuts (nothing like this time, though) and so I shopped around and tried several different types until finding one that works.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/04/2011 22:13

Excellent news about ToddlerScout's, ahem, cheeks.

::Wonders what our children will think in a decade's time when they realise details of their bums and tantrums are on the internet forever::

Scout19075 · 26/04/2011 22:17

TS will probably be too busy programming computers to look up my old posts. LOL

My baby/toddler is going to be 18 months old on Thursday -- HOW ON EARTH DID THAT HAPPEN?!?!

Scout19075 · 26/04/2011 22:39

Just curious, a question for the French contingent -- what is the typical year for schools? As in, when do they start the school year and when do they finish and what sort of holidays do they have in the year?

Tee2072 · 27/04/2011 07:52

Morning.

Looks to finally be a nice day here in Belfast. Just so long as no bombs go off. [black humour emoticon]

Pancakes and bacon anyone?

amberlight · 27/04/2011 08:40

Yes please for the pancakes!

Having some operation this afternoon Confused so I think a cup of tea is called for as well. Anyone else?
