Tea Room The 24th - San Francisco Painted Lady!

Welcome to the 24th incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not that you only have to have one! Just so long as you enjoy chat, tea, coffee, cake!!

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or Brew.

Our ongoing voyage take us to one of San Francisco's Painted Ladies!

We've brought the Aga over, it's in the back in the cosy kitchen overlooking the back garden. The chintz sofa is in the front room, under the bow window! All of the pillows and duvets have come along as well!

What's that? The Priest Hole? It's just over there --> behind the bookcase!

Mellors is upstairs, preparing the bedrooms for naps and such. Wink

The aspidistras are thriving as they overlook Nob Hill! The horses have found themselves stabled in the Garden, which is much larger than these places usually are in this city!

So come in and have a seat!

::tea hurries off to Powell Street to catch the Cable Car to Ghirardelli Square::

nice tea room, wow, view, what a great one. I can see some very pert bus jogging past teh window, ohhh , look , rollerskating nuns... never dull round here is it.

still RSi ish. short post.
Granny funeral plans are proving tricky, date has changed a couple of times. now looks like I might have to pull boy of school for 2/ 3 days or go with out DH and boy... not sure which to do.

Spent 4 hours today trimmig and weaving a willow arbour that had been allowed to grow unchecked for a few years. its was MASSIVE when I started. Also pancake races, for boy and mates not me. I just ate some.

Any one else fancy a pancake?? lemon and sugar or maple syrup and bacon, take you pick.

any of you london types know of a park with playground that might work for a 4 yr old and a 5yr old near mortlake crematorium?

More pancakes, yippee!

How close does the park have to be, UniS? I'm guessing you want something nearby. This isn't very far away (it's close to Chessington World of Adventures) but neither is it on the doorstep, so possibly not what you want. The Girl has been here a couple of times (aged about 2 and 5) and always had a lot of fun.

Just looked up where M crematorium is and it says that Kew Gardens is 10 minutes walk away. There are lots of lovely things for children to do there (and indoor and outdoor play areas).

sorry you are coming to Mortlake crem UniS, truth be told, we have always just played there - lots of lovely space but it depends on times etc

Maud, I think that means you are in charge of bringing 'round the drugs. But I haven't read it or seen it in ages, so I could be remembering wrong!

Good nights sleep all around makes life much better here in TeeVille. Off to GP, though, because I am still coughing up a lung and my ear is still full of fluid. Yay?

Got refund of MOT costs from very eek manager of garage who discovered that a wee cross chemo-fuelled tired Amber is still a Force To Be Reckoned With. Good.

Unis - I really think little ones after a funeral are very nice for all the guests. A reminder that life continues and especially if they are relatives that the person being missed lives on somehow in them. I would defo take him out of school if need be... but it depends how you feel about it.

Beer got very enthusiastic about pancake making and friends turned up with something that looked and tasted like scotch pancakes... so... we are continuing with the pancakes for breakfast and brunch! Please tuck in too.

One of Milk's friends slept here after the little party. They slept in Milk's bed wrapped in each others arms. It was completely charming. They are now busy playing Mummy and baby (the baby turns into an evil (albeit it giggling) monster at night) - lots of chitter chatter and laughter. - SO, SO LOVELY!!! Smile

We've moved AGAIN!!!

The horses seem to be enjoying the garden anyway - although Mellors is having to do a fair bit of repair work by the look of it.

And I see the NMBs have built themselves a replica of the bridge to get from one of the aspidistra pots to another without touching the floor. Very appropriate. Not quite sure what they've used to build it with though....

Amber - don't try to do too much [stern voice]Grin I found it affected my tastebuds - but got ulcers anyway - and ended up with mouthwash that numbed things so that I could eat - and taste even less Hmm but as I found I was unable to do much more than lie on the sofa for quite a bit of the time, didn't really matter too much. There were lots of alternatives for helping with some of the side affects though - so don't suffer in silence - tell someone, they might be able to help a bit (they might not, but if you don't tell them they won't know that there's an issue).

A&O sorry to hear your news. Probably a number of us have been in the same position, so can sympathise and lend an ear if you need one...

So, got here too! Although as I have never left Europe, I have no idea of the cultural references flying around. Never mind, will just sit down on this lovely distressed cappe frappe, sip my birkenstock and watch the painted ladies fluttering by.

Amber, I had been going to suggest curry for under-active taste buds, but, having heard about the ulcers, am thinking again. I had a bout at Christmas with the flu when everything tasted of metal. Terribly frustrating and depressing; you realise how important tasting nice food is to the morale. So I sympathise.
