Tea Room the 23rd - The Canadian Rockies

Welcome to the 23rd incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading - although its inmates inhabitants mostly have just one child, we also have mums of many (but no dads yet... hmmm...). Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or [tea]. :o

We find ourselves in a lovely spacious log cabin in the Canadian Rockies. Enormous west-facing windows show a gorgeous view of the sunset over the mountains, and there are log and/or gas fireplaces in every room, even the priest hole (which is a Hiding Spot of Requirement for Those In Need) and the bathrooms. In the open-concept living room, we find the Aga gently simmering against the wall, the bar fully stocked, and the cappuccino bar prepared to dispense any hot beverage of your choice.

Fluffy duvets and colourful pillows abound on the deep, squashy couches and armchairs. Outside, we see a vista of deep snow, dotted here and there with deer and bunny tracks. The walking trails and access roads have been ploughed clear of snow by our able (and hunky) handyman, Mellors, who is also available for massages and facial treatments in the Log Cabin Spa.
There is a hot tub outside on the west-facing deck, with a mini-bar conveniently nearby.

There are no aspidistras in this log cabin, as the cold of the Rockies causes them to shrivel and die. However, the Naked Mohawk Babies have come along and are swarming along the rafters, and in the adjacent stable, the Tea Room horses, Earl and Lady Grey are available for snowy rides. The bison are frolicking in their snowy paddock, and I have no idea if the bishops followed the trail of breadcrumbs or not.

(For newcomers, the last paragraphs obv. makes no sense - just go with, all will be explained.)

I actually prefer honey, but thanks!

LCT and I officially have matching ear infections. I also have a swollen tonsil and he has gunk in his lungs. We have matching antibiotics!!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/02/2011 12:16

His and hers ear infections? You have my sympathies, Tee.

I am heating up the soupe du jour (jours being part of one's five a day) and lewd rolls. Form an orderly queue.

mistlethrush · 28/02/2011 14:21

[MT leans head round door] Hello, will try to catch up a bit later on!

[disappears]

[hand reaches round door to grab Brew from table by door]

amberlight · 28/02/2011 14:27

How orderly do you want this queue to be?

::Amber tries to push the Bishops back into line and gets overtaken by a scrum of mums in the process::

UniS · 28/02/2011 14:39

Bioshops are still standing a line. What ever you did to them Amber, it worked.

Of scrum of mums there is no sign... maybe they have gone off to play rugby somewhere else.

Panckes and maple syrup for lunch, perfect. Can I offer a very healthy mulled wine fruit salad for afters.

I have boy currently in bed for a rest, he has a friend coming to play at 3ish till 5ish. I have a bunch of small jobs round the house I can get on with while boys amuse each other I hope.

Back to school tomorrow for boy. back to work for em. A days gardening for teh childrens centres we used to attend. working thurs and fri as well doing other more electrical stuff and then Boys party on saturday... eeek, busy week. Glad I wrapped teh pass the parcels weeks ago.

Scout19075 · 28/02/2011 14:52

Maud, would you like help serving up the soup du jour? BabyScout is getting very good at serving/feeding soup from his little pot with his little ladle. He spends AGES feeding me soup. I'm sure the Bishops won't mind if a little is tipped over the sides in his enthusiasm....

amberlight · 28/02/2011 15:06

I promised them a copy of Croziers Monthly if they were good.

Very impressed with today so far, really - got free directory entries in our trade publication thanks to a salesman who sent me a Wrong Email that was very Shock and Blush

teafortwo · 28/02/2011 15:41

Hello all,

Due to a sicky session from Milk we are still in deepest darkest Brittany and not due to travel until tomorrow evening when we can have a mishaps free journey! Everyone has gone out Milk is busy watching Pete's Dragon lapping up the loveliness of having duvet day at Grandmamma's and so I thought I'd pop in for cuppa and pancake. Yuuum yuuum!!!

purple - Actually - I am toying (LOL) with the idea of giving Milk some mice for her birthday. If it would have been a pleasurable project for you I would ask you to make them (and send money to cover costs in advance) BUT if it looks a PITA don't worry - I can source something like them very easily from elsewhere.

oxeye · 28/02/2011 18:08

Hello all! Sorry not to have been in the Room for a while, but thanks for the pancakes, lovely with bacon and maple syrup and a fried egg on top Smile

Sorry so much sickness, we are fighting it off. Had lovely half term and now back drinking cocktails to normal!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/02/2011 18:20

Thanks for the help dishing out the soup, Scout and BabyScout.

::clasps Oxeye to her more than ample bosom::

As the sun is well and truly over the yardarm, I think it must be Bolly o'clock. For those who are unwell or need their strength to look after children who are unwell, I could add last night's mystery ingredient calpol.

MaryBS · 28/02/2011 18:36

Are you going to let the bishops out for the enthronement of the new Bishop of Ely, Amber? Think I might just make it out of the priest's hole by then

Am feeling panicky with heart palpitations and feeling dizzy. Need to calm down...

UniS · 28/02/2011 18:45

Hands mary a LARGE glass of calpol and bolly with a little paper umbrella and a straw.

CMOTdibbler · 28/02/2011 20:05

Calpol and bolly must be like adding hibiscus syrup to bolly ::sips::

UniS · 28/02/2011 20:11

Clutches at own large glass of calpol and bolly. Just heard my Granny died this afternoon. She was safe, warm and loved, my Ma was holding her hand. The nursing home has been a much better place for her to spend her last days than hospital or even her own home would have been. She didn't fall and wasn't " found". I guess its a good a death as we could have hoped for.

Can I raise a glass to a strict teetotaller? if so, heres to my granny smith.

CMOTdibbler · 28/02/2011 20:17

Wine to Granny Smith.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/02/2011 20:28

Wine to the very splendid-sounding Granny Smith.

UniS · 28/02/2011 20:35

She was indeed Splendid. Very much the centre of our family, all us cousins have spread our wings and moved away but we all kept in touch with granny and she kept us all up to date with each other. She helped many of us grandkids with college fees, tools and other training costs. She was loved by 4 children, 7 Grandchildren and 6 G. Grandchildren.

More than 20 years after her husband died she can now be at peace with him.

Tee2072 · 28/02/2011 20:39

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/02/2011 20:41

That's so lovely to hear, UniS.
