Tea Room the 23rd - The Canadian Rockies

Welcome to the 23rd incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading - although its inmates inhabitants mostly have just one child, we also have mums of many (but no dads yet... hmmm...). Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or [tea]. :o

We find ourselves in a lovely spacious log cabin in the Canadian Rockies. Enormous west-facing windows show a gorgeous view of the sunset over the mountains, and there are log and/or gas fireplaces in every room, even the priest hole (which is a Hiding Spot of Requirement for Those In Need) and the bathrooms. In the open-concept living room, we find the Aga gently simmering against the wall, the bar fully stocked, and the cappuccino bar prepared to dispense any hot beverage of your choice.

Fluffy duvets and colourful pillows abound on the deep, squashy couches and armchairs. Outside, we see a vista of deep snow, dotted here and there with deer and bunny tracks. The walking trails and access roads have been ploughed clear of snow by our able (and hunky) handyman, Mellors, who is also available for massages and facial treatments in the Log Cabin Spa.
There is a hot tub outside on the west-facing deck, with a mini-bar conveniently nearby.

There are no aspidistras in this log cabin, as the cold of the Rockies causes them to shrivel and die. However, the Naked Mohawk Babies have come along and are swarming along the rafters, and in the adjacent stable, the Tea Room horses, Earl and Lady Grey are available for snowy rides. The bison are frolicking in their snowy paddock, and I have no idea if the bishops followed the trail of breadcrumbs or not.

(For newcomers, the last paragraphs obv. makes no sense - just go with, all will be explained.)

Wriggle asked me this morning, 'Do you love me in real life?' Hmm Too much time in here?

MaryBS · 27/02/2011 20:06

Gin would be nice, but I drink too much as it is. Will settle for a virtual one...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 20:20

::Totters in with a tin of fancy shortbread, confusingly labelled Frae Bonnie Southwold::

Hello, ladies. Oh dear. So many poorly babes and poorly parents.

::Dispenses gin and Calpol, not necessarily in the same glass::

Tee2072 · 27/02/2011 20:27

Maud, they might go well together! I've been self medicating this ear ache with booze all weekend! Grin

::goes and fetches Mary, tucks her into the priest hole::

Just took 1.5 hours to get LCT to settle. BABIES!!!! (okay...TODDLERS!!!)

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 27/02/2011 21:01

Oh, Mary, how foolhardy brave. Feel Envy (in the tea room sense) just thinking about it. I shall have a gin-with-calpol to settle my stomach.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 21:30

So it's gin and Calpol cocktails all round, then?

UnAgentSecrete · 27/02/2011 21:39

Make mine a G&T, Maud, with ice 'n' slice please - might as well enjoy a virtual one seeing as there'll be none of the real stuff for at least a week or two.

Catita, it's comforting to hear you're a fellow sufferer altho I'm sorry too, iykwim! They are the pits, aren't they, I get a lot of them too, and this one was a real doozy. Think I'm going to be trying hard to address some of the not-so-good eating and drinking habits that I've got stuck in over the last few years - maybe will give my immune system a bit of a break.

Glad K is on the mend, anyway, and glad BabyScout is too, Scout.

Tee - oh the joys of settling! SBoy is thankfully much better now he doesn't nap, but by crikey he could be hard work back when. And still prone to waking every so often - agh! Make that a double, Maud!!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 21:46

I've had an even better idea. The cocktail bar is now open and .

UnAgentSecrete · 27/02/2011 21:51

Aha, cocktails, yes - am putting in my order for a margarita right now, mm mm

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 21:55

Is the mmm for the margarita or for Mellors?

UnAgentSecrete · 27/02/2011 22:03

The margarita, definitely. Tom Cruise never did it for me, I'm afraid. A sharp margarita in a nicely chilled salt-rimmed glass, however...

Tee2072 · 27/02/2011 22:07

Make mine cough syrup! Oh remember the days it had alcohol in it...

Agent this was the first night in awhile he hasn't gone right to sleep. Maybe because he napped in the morning rather than the afternoon?!? Who knows!!

UnAgentSecrete · 27/02/2011 22:10

On another note, one for us oldies - I remember sitting in front of our old b&w tv watching this. Well, watching the theme tune anyway. Loved it then and love it now. And now can share the joy with SBoy! We were looking at this this afternoon and he was gamely singing along the odd word or two, and arm dancing in his own inimitable way. That's my boy. [gushy heart emoticon]

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 22:12

The funny thing about Mellors, Secret, is that everyone looking at him sees something different. I see something like this

::fans self with Amber's copy of What Ride-On Lawnmower::

but others see Wesley Snipes, Cameron Diaz and sundry others. I agree that Tom Cruise looks like a ferret and is not in the same league.

::proffers margaritas and cough syrup on the rocks::

UnAgentSecrete · 27/02/2011 22:14

Probably because the wind rose in the east and the stars were aligned over the rose bush, Tee. As you say, who knows!!

UnAgentSecrete · 27/02/2011 22:24

Yes, I was being a bit literal about the vid clip there Maud. But it was still the margarita.... snickers to self at not being alone in finding Tom Cruise ferrety

And I must take my leave of you now ladies otherwise I will sit here for hours and never get to bed, and for a recovering sick person already prone to insomnia ( that must be where SBoy gets it from), that is really rather dangerous.

Enjoy the cocktails, and good night

UniS · 27/02/2011 23:03

Night night UnSA

Night ma
night Pa,
night John boy.

been quizzing tonight. respectable score, won a raffle prize- fudge. Yum. Would you like some?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/02/2011 23:09

Yes please to the fudge. I love fudge as my vast waistline will testify.

::scoffs fudge and heads off to bed::

Scout19075 · 28/02/2011 07:45

Breakfast anyone?

Tee2072 · 28/02/2011 07:47

Whatcha got, Scout?

First decent nights sleep here in ages. Both LCT and I still off to GP, however. He still sounds like a 90 a day smoker and I think my ear is going to fall off...so much for my long day getting things done while he's at nursery...

Scout19075 · 28/02/2011 07:51

Anything you'd like, Tee!

Tee2072 · 28/02/2011 08:12

I think pancakes this morning then, Scout! Thanks!

Scout19075 · 28/02/2011 10:09

Proper American pancakes coming your way, Tee! Butter and maple syrup on top, unless you'd prefer something else? I'm tucking into French Toast and maple syrup myself. As BabyScout would say "yumyumyumyum."

Scout19075 · 28/02/2011 10:28

How rude!

UnAgentSecrete · 28/02/2011 12:02

ooh, am I too late for the pancakes? I know it's a bit near lunchtime now, but pancakes and maple syrup... oh my.
