The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

OMG, this thread is seriously busy.
Makes mental note to visit more often

Scout19075 · 21/01/2011 15:24

Would I be Bad Mommy if I gave BabyScout sandwiches and fruit and yogurt for dinner? He had a burger and chips for lunch (Bad Mommy again!) and I just don't know what else to give him for dinner.... ACK!

::Waves to everyone::

Is it too early for chocolates?

Tee2072 · 21/01/2011 15:38

Nope, sounds like a find dinner to me, Scout.

Is there such a thing as too early for chocolates?

amberlight · 21/01/2011 15:47

Scout, likewise I'd say that's absolutely fine for food for BabyScout. It's never too early for chocolate. Do have some.

MM, yup, we seem quite capable of getting through a bit of space on this thread Grin

Tee, you've spent your money on software for your company? Dare I ask what?

Tee2072 · 21/01/2011 15:49

Film editing software, Adobe Premier Elements. I really want the full version, but that's hundreds. Elements is about £60!

I figure it's a double win. The money was a gift and it goes on the company accounts. Grin

amberlight · 21/01/2011 15:54

oooo, nifty!

Tee2072 · 21/01/2011 16:00

Yeah, I'm very excited! It's for my company, but I will use it to edit LCT video also!

I actually only have one client I do video editing for but the software I've been using just isn't cutting it. Time for what the Pros use!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 21/01/2011 16:13

CMOT, really sorry to hear about your mother. How do you feel about the possibility?

Tea, good plan of Milk with milk, but possibly costly. She sounds full of confidence and initiative. Wriggle still making rough copies of book for Milk; I need to pin her down (possibly literally).

She spent all yesterday afternoon asking me in a loud voice to take her friend home and when I tried to sush her could not understand that this might be upsetting for said friend. 'But, Serpent, I love M - I just don't want her here today.' Lovely lovely friend just cuddled Wriggle. A very nice little home educated girl who makes our decision about schools very difficult.

Techno, why are you crying? Have you stopped? It's not just the thought of being a pushy parent? Or not a pushy-enough parent?

teafortwo · 21/01/2011 18:24

Hhhhheeeerrrrmmm - I am really fed up!

I would very much like to have some fun!!!!

What shall we do???
Grin

Scout19075 · 21/01/2011 18:33

Dancing? We haven't done that in AGES.

::Scout throws some shapes::

Scout19075 · 21/01/2011 18:34

(Oh, and Miss Tea, what's up?)

teafortwo · 21/01/2011 20:05

Mellors asked for this one... He said "techno will understand." ????!!!???

I am multi-tasking - we are also getting on the ticket list for the 2012 paralympic sports. Whatcha reckon our chances are of getting tickets???

Scout19075 · 21/01/2011 20:33

MommyScout isn't getting it through her head that she can buy BabyScout any luggage she wants - I know what she's looking at and have said whatever!

UniS · 21/01/2011 20:36

Madonna night it is then!!! didn;t really get into her whilst at high school, more of an AHA / duran girl . Tho NOT in the posters on wall kind of way. My bedroom walls were covered in maps and then theatre posters.

Boy finally has a book with word, not many words, but hes is soooo pleased. and read it very well with lots of expression and verve ( or so DH and I tell ourselves)
Oh floppy....No floppy, floppy floppy... hard to keep a straight face.

Ox and CMOT are you being subjected to the antics of biff Chip and Kipper as well?

Dining room NEARLY finished, just need to do 2nd coat on window frame tomorrow, then clean up all teh dust and bits and put furniture back... we might be eating in there on Sunday . which would be nice as the kitchen is a tad cold.

Today and yesterday it has looked like we have snow onteh ground all day, so hard has teh frost been. The lane is slick with black ice so we sort of skitter to school.

teafortwo · 21/01/2011 20:36

EXCELLENT choice scout.

I like songs that go dooo beee doooo chaaaaance and dooo beeee dooo roooomaaaaance.

Quality!

Did I ever tell you that my Dad bought me "You can dance" as my first LP. Boooooy how I cherished it!!! Do kids cherish their ipod downloads with the same passion, or no? I think probably no... Sad

My first cd was a Madonna one too... It had "Dear Jessie" on it. Which one was that?

First tape... Kylie wearing the frisby hat.

Scout19075 · 21/01/2011 20:39

In the 80s I didn't get pop music - was more of a 50s/60s kind of girl. Then the late 80s hit and I caught up. LOVE just about all pop music from the 50s onwards.

teafortwo · 21/01/2011 20:44

UNiS - I always put you down as a kinda girl, non?

And...

Do you realise HOW many times I have read that book without ever noticing the double meaning. You have made my life HELL!!!! How am I going to be sweet and kind to keen new readers with the naughty thoughts you have planted in my mind???

UniS · 21/01/2011 20:46

nope- smiths was DHs kinda music, he was real shoe gazer.

Scout19075 · 21/01/2011 20:50

Why does Madonna smell her armpits in the Cherish video? I've been wondering for years....

Tee2072 · 21/01/2011 20:58

I have absolutely no memory of what the first album I bought was. Or the first CD.

I was definitely into 80s pop, but American style. Some of the 80s videos on music channels here I've never ever seen.

Actually, I still am into 80s pop. I don't think I've bought new music, except one Glee Soundtrack, in 10 - 15 years. I have no clue who is popular now.

teafortwo · 21/01/2011 20:59

'shoe gazer' - LOL!!! I was quite into grunge as a teen so also spent a long time looking at my dms.

Culturally I feel old because...

a) Young enthusiastic things at work keep phoning me up to get advice from someone soooo experienced and talk to me politely.

b) All of my favourite songs and DJs are on radio 2.

c) I no longer understand radio 1

d) Gary is 40

The Rolling Stones can be old because they always have been BUT Take That should be young, on a dodgy tape on a walkman and let's face it no concern to your parents because they are probably all gay!!!!
