The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

Ah, hating travel does add another level of fraughtness. It seems to me that it's going to depend on the airlines and how much assistance they can give in terms of backcarrier, someone to help with bags, suitable seats etc. I'd happily help if you were traversing London, but first you've got to get here.

Catitainahatita · 15/01/2011 16:07

Thanks Vie; the flight I have foun is via Amsterdam, othdewise I'd take up your kind offer.
Talking with Mr H just now I think I am not going to do it. We'd better saving the money for when said sistwe gets married.
Oh well it was a nice dream while it lasted.

UniS · 15/01/2011 19:38

evening all. Unis would like to apologise for not beingher last night, but we had a case of no internet for unknown reasons and then I wentto teh pub, not teh normal pub, a different one, for Christmas Dinner, with other preschool mummies.

NOT that I am a preschool mum any more, but I was when we decide dto have a christmas dinner. IYSWIM

CMOT- loving the idea of your car being remote controlled. just like a toy one. No worry, glad mitten arrived and is usefull.

Garden centre with fish is practically educational scout. I like letting boy try on fasinators at one of teh GCs near somewhere I work occasionally. mind you, he may now be so big its not cute anymore.

Alas poor Norris I knew him well....

Tee2072 · 15/01/2011 20:07

Hi sorry.

Not been around, mum's in town and we've been busy busy busy! Grin LCT is being spoiled to death. It's a hard life for him, really it is.

Hope Amber is doing well.

And everyone else also!

I'll to catch up at some point!

Scout19075 · 15/01/2011 21:33

::Scout wonders what a fasinator is::

purpleknittingmum · 15/01/2011 21:43

I keep trying to find this thread, I shall now mark it as watching!! :o

Hello ladies!

Scout19075 · 15/01/2011 21:48

Hello PKM!

CMOTdibbler · 15/01/2011 22:00

Hi PKM !

Scout, they are those feather things that people perch on their heads for weddings - in the picture on my profile of dbs wedding I have one on.

Baileys latte anyone ?

purpleknittingmum · 15/01/2011 22:04

How rude of me!

Bud for anyone? I also have some homemade flapjack (smug smiley) I don't do much in the way of proper baking/cooking but I am good at that!!

CMOTdibbler · 15/01/2011 22:13

Strangely, I am pretty good at baking, but never get flapjack right. no idea where I go wrong though. So am scarfing yours with relish

Scout19075 · 15/01/2011 22:15

Ahh, yes, thanks CMOT! UniS, the garden center has those? Not sure if I'm impressed or startled. Grin

MrScout had a surprise in the post today -- he was given a GGUK Thanks Badge. He seems both surprised and just a bit pleased with himself. We didn't go to the County event last weekend, so he didn't get it presented publicly. Shame, though, that they hadn't let me know he was receiving it so I could have either made sure he/we went or arranged a time with me to present it at a unit meeting (MrScout is there every week to collect BabyScout and usually stays for a few minutes and chats to the leaders and girls). I have presented MrScout with badge/s at Seniors on behalf of my Guider/Guide Unit.

Tee, glad to hear your mom made it. YAY!!!

purpleknittingmum · 15/01/2011 22:35

If I can make flapjack CMOT then it is easy! I am a very lazy cook!!

Would you like the recipe?

thumbdabwitch · 15/01/2011 22:37

Hello PKM! Did you make it onto here before and then lose us? I have seen you, I know I have, but possibly not on this actual thread.

Pull up a sun lounger and ta for the flapjacks. Although I never could quite stomach them in RL - not sure why, do they generally have peanuts in? If so, that would be why. I Don't Do peanuts.
It's not the oats, that's for sure - I have a lovely recipe for banana oat cookies that are fab.Grin

I did make some wheat-free shortbread with chocolate drops yesterday - anyone want some?

purpleknittingmum · 15/01/2011 22:44

I hae been on here a bit thumdabwitch and then lost the thread and couldn't remember what it was called! Posted on a few others as well, still getting into this!!

I don't put any fruit or peanuts in my flapjack, butter, golden syrup, brown sugar, oats and then I mush up banana or I do one without banana and put on a little layer of chocolate!

Did a tray of each and giving half to my daughter's friends family. They pick her up for Girls Brigade and church on Sundays so it is a little thank you!

UniS · 15/01/2011 22:51

ohhh flapjack, yes please. I'm not good at flapjack either, tends to go too hard or not stick together at all. There is bakers in Exeter do fab HUGE flapjack slices, really juicy and oozing with flavour. I used to indulge in a chocolate orange flapjack from them on my way to pick up boy from Childminders when He was small.

Otter is not your average garden centre then?? they appear to sell EVERYTHING.

Scout19075 · 15/01/2011 22:56

I think I may have been to the Ottery St Mary's one. Shock The one we went to yesterday had loads of crap stuff that has nothing to do with gardening/yardwork, but I didn't see a fasintor (we did see turtles and stingrays, though!).

Anyone else having wild wind?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 15/01/2011 23:17

Not sure how to answer a question about wild wind. Hmm

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 15/01/2011 23:18
amberlight · 16/01/2011 07:59

I've never owned a garden gnome. I do have a fascinator, though.

Not a lot of wild wind here now, thankfully.
What do I want for breakfast? I really fancy a croissant, but there aren't any in real life.

(Tee, I'm recovering very well from operation last week thanks, but now quietly panicking myself silly about further tests on Wednesday).

Tee2072 · 16/01/2011 08:14

Oooh, croissants, thanks Amber. Any honey about?

Glad you're doing well!

I do not own a fascinator or a hat (other than the warm sort). The one UK wedding I have been to was actually held in Tuscany so wasn't going to try to fly with a hat!

Inlaws descend today as they and my parents get along great. So need to start prepping veg for large roast and all the trimmings.

Byeee!

Sarmar · 16/01/2011 12:50

Hello,

It was suggested I introduce myself so here I am!

DS and me just made muffins so Ill bring some in. Choc chip - not the best ever but not bad. lol

Nice to meet you all.

Sar

amberlight · 16/01/2011 13:23

Hi Sar! Welcome!! Choc chip muffins always appreciated.

Have a seat on the comfy chintz sofa that seems to appear in every one of the tea rooms. Cuppa?

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 16/01/2011 13:34

Were you laughing at the Thin White Duke, Amber? How very dare you!

Hello, Sarmar. Nice to meet you. Mellors is now serving lunch. What do you fancy? Apart from Mellors obviously.

thumbdabwitch · 16/01/2011 13:47

hello Sarmar! choc chip cookies are definitely a good move.

PKM - thought I recognised you - glad to see the marbles haven't all dropped out my ears just yet then! :)

amber - eek to further tests.

tee - eek to ILs descending

Scout - eek to wild wind

I don't have a garden gnome. But we do have a stone chicken, a stone duck, several pot frogs and some cement wombats. Gnomes always look like they know too much...

amberlight · 16/01/2011 17:19

TW, I think I'm so used to tests that after a while you get the attitude "c'mon then - bring it on!". More to the point, I like to get all my panicking done well in advance, so that if something happens, I've already panicked about it and there's no point repeating the exercise.

A cement wombat? Now there's something I'd never thought of asking for as a birthday present. Thinking about it, we have a stone badger, frog and squirrel in the garden. There really ought to be a gnome: he could sit fishing by the stream/raging torrent/full scale river*

*depending on the weather...
