The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 16/01/2011 17:30

Hi. Just dropping in to bring you this. .

Jacksmama · 16/01/2011 17:47

Just wanted to pop in to say hi - we don't have Wi-Fi at this hotel (we're on Kauai now) so I can only check in occasionally from the nearby Starbucks! Thinking of you all! Anyone who who wants a postcard, PM of FB me your address! xxxJM

Scout19075 · 16/01/2011 20:33

Welcome Sarmar. I'm Scout. ::waves hello::

::waves:: to everyone else.

Amber, have you stayed on your sofa today?

Thumb, any way of getting a picture of the cement wombat?

BabyScout has suddenly found/rediscovered the art of trying to use a fork to feed himself. He's a funny one and will rarely use his fingers for non-finger foods, preferrng to sit like a baby bird and have food shoveled in. He was happy to let MrScout put food on his fork and then put it on his plate so he could pick it up and get it in his mouth. Then he started getting cross at the fork being "taken away" and wanted to try to spear peas himself. A very entertaining dinner to say the least!

UniS · 16/01/2011 21:13

I remeber boy going through a phase of picking food up with fingers, placing it on fork, picking up fork, removing food from fork with fingers, putting it in mouth with fingers.

took him a LONNNG time to eat anything that way.

thumbdabwitch · 16/01/2011 21:30

I was searching through google images to see if I could find one but no! There are major deficiencies in the Aussie interweb, an inability to find many goods on line is just one of them.Angry
The cement wombat is actually two - they are part of a cement garden bench, that looks like a thick plank sitting on two tree stumps, and the wombats are coming out of the roots of the treestump. I'll take a photo of it later and post it on my profile.

Ah, the using of the fork - lots of fun to start with and then increasingly frustrating until they realise that it can also be used in spoon-like fashion, that you don't have to spear everything.

Humorous marzipan veg? Like, carrots, for e.g.? I wondered why I could see them all disappearing off the plate with NMBs under them - they're all wearing little Leis and look like they're heading for the surf... I hope marzipan doesn't dissolve!

Amaretto would be very nice, thanks UniS. Or Disaronno or whatever it's called now.

JM - still very Envy.

We also have a rubber snake in our garden. I bought him in the UK at a party costume shop and he's very realistic - MrThumb decided it would be fun to leave it in the garden to catch the unwary. So far he's nearly given his mum a heart attack (I didn't know she was very scared of snakes or I wouldn't have let him play the trick) and failed to scare our English friends; my Aussie friends didn't notice it so he's a bit disappointed. Hmm

Scout19075 · 16/01/2011 21:41

I still eat in a very American way so he sees me using my cutlery one way and MrScout and all of that side use it another -- poor boy doesn't stand a chance! He managed to spear a chip and some chicken but made mushy peas trying to spear and scoop those. But he enjoyed the attempts, so I guess that's good!

Is it sad that I bought a stocking present for BabyScout this weekend and figured out what I'm going to make all of my unit Guiders for Christmas?

oxeye · 16/01/2011 23:40

Scout, that's not sad. That's impossible. Crikey Moses. I am still figuing out what to give this Christmas gone!! Grin

hi Sar, welcome

I have a fascinator and lots of hats of all types but no gnome

glad Amber you are doing well and kisses to all. We've had a good weekend recovering from week one of school - Oxboy is fine, DH and I on our knees and missing OxPoppins -surely we should be able to cope with one boy ourselves?

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 16/01/2011 23:48

That's not sad, Scout, that's awesome and just a bit intimidating.

Hello Oxeye my dear. What has brought you to your knees?

I don't like Amaretto so would anyone like to help me drink this Bolly?

oxeye · 16/01/2011 23:52

afternoon LaVie - well partly my stomach is mostly over my knees now, so I guess I am always with them to some extent or other Grin

but just suffering that start of it all fatigue- had a great break over Christmas and New Year but have yet to Crank Up to Full Speed iykwim so have found first week back, first week at big school, first week at work etc a bit tiring! nothing bad, just weary

how you, my dear?

Donki · 17/01/2011 00:00

I hope all goes well on Wednesday Amber - I will be thinking of you.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 00:01

Moi? I am fine. Went through that back to school thing too, so do sympathise and empathise. As the holiday ended, we discovered that MissTechno's feet have grown about an inch and ended up in the hell that is Oxford Street yesterday buying school shoes. But have had a lovely evening at Sadler's Wells, so mustn't grumble.

::wafts about in a tutu::

oxeye · 17/01/2011 00:04

oh yes, your boy cinders, was it good?
[missing baby sitter emoticon]

will you go to see Black Swan at the flicks?

  • how are the patience pills going?
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 00:12

'Twas very good. We took MissTechno and her friend (did you know that a family ticket there means you can take another child effectively for free?) Black Swan took a pasting from Deborah Bull on Today on Friday, so dunno. I think I'd rather go to see Shoes and the Ballet Boyz at SW and The King's Speech at the flicks.

oxeye · 17/01/2011 01:22

yes, to The King's Speech want to see that muchly (small Colin Firth drool) but am fascinated by all ballet and NPortman - but it will all be DVDs for me anyway ....

Scout19075 · 17/01/2011 07:04

I saw a bargin (originally £8 on sale for £1.75). The nice thing about BabyScout only being 26 months old at Christmas is he'll like anything he gets!

Full English anyone? Tropical/exotic juices of your choice to accompany breakfast.

amberlight · 17/01/2011 07:14

Seen The King's Speech and it was absolutely fantastic - do go to the cinema with all haste.

Yes please to virtual tropical breakfast.

Donki, thanks.

Scout, not exactly - went out browsing things with a good friend and later on with hubby, just pottering about. Still surprisingly tiring. Doing a bit of work and seeing another friend today so that should take my mind off things nicely.

Tee2072 · 17/01/2011 07:47

Morning all.

TODDLERS ARGH! Need I say more? Grin

Not had a chance to catch up but HI to new people and Hi to old people and Hi to the people in between!

I've heard that amber. I just can't get past Colin Firth's expression on the poster!! Grin

Hopefully off to park today with all grandparents in tow to ride our trike and be fawned over in public. Yeah, LCT is hating this, let me tell you!

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 09:30

Breakfast. Yum. Here's a fresh pineapple to add to the buffet.

Tee hee [oops that looks like a bad pun] at being fawned over in public. I remember those days of doting old ladies in supermarkets.

The lovely Colin has just won a Golden Globe. We must all hasten to a cinema forthwith. And here, for Oxeye and Mary and me is a small memento of one of his earlier roles.

::Momentary loss of concentration::

Donki · 17/01/2011 09:50

Patience pills?

You've found a supply of patience pills?

WHERE?
