The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

Spray bandage stings, though not as much as New Skin (liquid bandage). OUCH!

thumbdabwitch · 14/01/2011 11:55

CMOTD - I am very sorry to hear that about your hand/wrist. :(
Couldn't you find anyone who would give you a bionic one instead? But joking aside, they couldn't use stem cells or somesuch to grow you some new muscles, no?

Amber - sorry to hear of your referral on as well - I'm really hoping that isn't indicative of further surgery potential.

Scout - is this skin cracking a side effect of your meds? It sounds like the little finger may be infected - is it hot and red as well as swollen and puffy? You might need some topical antibiotics - take it to the docs and see. You cannot afford to mess around under the circs - if you have got an infection, you know you need to get it checked out and your WBC at the same time.
I would also suggest you take a good multivitamin as skin cracking can indicate low levels of vitamin C and vitamin B among other things.

laVie - I love the ballet and haven't been for ages. Coppelia is one that is good for littlies, I seem to remember - love that. The last one I remember seeing is The Dream, (adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream), by Sir Frederick Ashton. Fabulous set, costumes, music, dance - proper fairytale stuff.

Oxeye - I did snigger a touch at the idea of Oxboy dusting the kitten! Poor things, both of them.

JM - OUCH! Hope your foot is ok and I know exactly what you mean about the knicker-wetting pain! hope you haven't broken anything, take care of it.

Catita - nice to see you back again.:)

In case anyone is wondering why I have an extra bit in my name, it's all Sethstarkadder's fault. She started this thread and I got roped in. If you have an interest in conserving fish for the future, please do have a look.

Let the weekend commence!

Bolly, anyone?

Scout19075 · 14/01/2011 20:51

A very late MrScout. I'm bored. I have lots of jobs but can't be bothered.

CMOTdibbler · 14/01/2011 22:08

DH is away till late tomorrow - so I am relaxing nicely Smile, and tomorrow ds is going to play with his best friend so I'll have some downtime

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 14/01/2011 22:42

Evening ladies.

I. Have. Bolly.

Scout19075 · 14/01/2011 22:54

::Waves glass in LaVie's direction::

Had a fab time at the garden center, playing with the fish and other animals in the Pet Center. Picture posted in the other tea room. And I love GCs for lunch during the week -- it's full of retirees who are more than willing to play with BabyScout who laps up the attention and turns on the charm.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 14/01/2011 23:24

Oh poo. MN went offline for the zillionth time and took my post with it.

::Fills Scout's glass to the brim::

I love harden centres. For buying plants I prefer proper nurseries, but I love all the wind chimes, wacky wellies and other tat they sell in garden centres. Plus they have cafes.

::confesses she used to have a garden gnome::

Scout19075 · 14/01/2011 23:28

::Bows to LaVie's Englishness at havng a garden gnome::

I joked for years that when I got my British citizenship I wanted a "pregnant teenage chav gnome" as the "gift of a local flavor" I was supposed to have received from my county. HA! (I'm still waiting for it, BTW.)

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 14/01/2011 23:33

Sadly, Norris Gnome met an untimely end when I stepped on him when pruning the clematis. That could hardly be more English could it?

Scout19075 · 14/01/2011 23:37

Poor Norris....

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 14/01/2011 23:40

It was several years ago. I'm over it now.

::breaks down, sobbing uncontrollably::

Scout19075 · 14/01/2011 23:41

::Gives LaVie a very MN pat on her shoulder:: There there, dear, Norris is in a good place....

Actually, you've just given me a good idea for Christmas presents.....

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 14/01/2011 23:44

::wails::

But he's not. He's ::sobs:: in pieces. In landfill.

Scout19075 · 14/01/2011 23:47

Oh dear. ::Hands LaVie an extra large bolly and the box of tea room chocolates to take her mind off of Norris Gnome::

Catitainahatita · 14/01/2011 23:55

Hi all. A quick straw poll. Would it be totally daft of me to consider flying to Blighty on my own with both DC? It means three aeroplanes and a total journey time of more than 24 hours.
I've been invited to a panel in Scotland (near where my sister lives) and could count on a babysitter for the conference.
I am just a touch concerned that I would cope with the journey, let alone with the bags....

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 14/01/2011 23:56

::gulps Bolly::

I feel better now. So, bulk order of garden gnomes to be airlifted to the USA at Christmas?

amberlight · 15/01/2011 07:59

Catita, blimey, three aircraft, two children...I guess it can be done, but it'd be an interesting exercise!

thumbdabwitch · 15/01/2011 08:29

jings - don't know if I could cope with 2 on my own and all the bags! one was bearable but 2 would be more tricky. Doable though - I remember the first time I went out to Australia to visit not-then-DH, there was a lady travelling on her own with a 3yo DD and a

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 15/01/2011 11:41

Catita - I think if you can get some help from airline staff (have you spoken to the airlines?) you should go for it. Then you get to participate in the conference, see your sister and drink Scotch.

amberlight · 15/01/2011 11:47

(and maybe all three at the same time!)

Catitainahatita · 15/01/2011 14:02

I think I will need to ask about assistance. I want to go, but think that the journey may leave me a quivering wreck. Oh, and have I mnentioned that I hate travelling.

thumbdabwitch · 15/01/2011 14:14

I take it there's no chance that Mr.Hatita can come with you?

amberlight · 15/01/2011 14:38

Hating travel could be a difficulty, for sure.
Or anyone who could look after the mini-hatitas for a few days back home...?

Catitainahatita · 15/01/2011 15:01

We can't afford to pay three tickets.... So Mr. H is staying. Otherwise I wouldn't think twice. I thought of going on my own but Gatita is still bfing and Kittenito is in a Mammy only phase.
