The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

Scout19075 · 07/01/2011 18:03

Kicking myself for not raising the weight question with the doctor today. Another 2+kg/5 lbs lost....

UniS · 07/01/2011 18:44

Scout- are you having cream on your breakfast? and butter on your spuds?

Yet more fairy cake making today. only one hit the kitchen floor iceing side down.

Scout19075 · 07/01/2011 19:57

Spuds aren't spuds without butter!

UniS · 07/01/2011 20:06

scout- you ARE having snacks when baby scout does? aren't you. the ideal ratio is probably one choc hob nob to half a rice cake.

Scout19075 · 07/01/2011 20:13

Usually. When I think about it. Blush But when I have snacks they're really bad for you things like half-a-dozen cookies or a Snickers bar.

Scout19075 · 07/01/2011 20:18

I've been doing things like pies and lasagna for lunch, too, when I can, not just sandwiches. Last night I had pasta with BabyScout at five then a second dinner after my meeting at 9:30.

UniS · 07/01/2011 20:29

lass, if your losing weight that fast, a snickers bar is not "bad for you". Sounds like you NEED your calories in addition to the fruit and veg and healthy stuff one eats to absorb vitamins.

Here, have some virtual full fat beer...

And can we all raise a virtual glass for my friend Mrs F who isn't well enough to come up the pub tonight.

CMOTdibbler · 07/01/2011 20:32

Smoothies are a really good way to get extra calories in - buy a bag of frozen fruit, then dump in a blender (or use a stick blender) with ice cream and whole fat milk. Superfast to make and consume, and gives you a good calorie boost.

You do need to make a point of having 3 meals and 3 snacks though - maybe stock up on cereal bars, hummus and guacamole, plus nuts like almonds so that you have superfast things, then set snack time in your phone so it will nag you

UniS · 07/01/2011 20:36

sorry for sounding like your mother scout... Unis holds out wrist for slapping.

Off up teh pub now. wayhayyyy.

Scout19075 · 07/01/2011 20:43

Need to get a new stick blender -- burnt out the one I had mass-making puree for BabyScout when he first started weaning. Yes, probably do need more cereal bars (do love cereal bars). Oooh, and nuts. I like nuts. Just need to keep them away from BabyScout.

No worries, UniS, wasn't feeling mothered at all!

Scout19075 · 07/01/2011 22:37

Ice cream, anyone?

asmallbunchofflowers · 07/01/2011 23:21

Yum. Could the flavour of requirement be toffee, please?

Scout19075 · 07/01/2011 23:29

small, just curious (nosey!), how many girlies in brown do you have?

asmallbunchofflowers · 08/01/2011 00:03

Nom nom nom.

I have 20, with about 14 on the waiting list (mostly too young to join at the moment). We also have a second pack with (I think) about 14 in it. All we lack is leaders.

Scout19075 · 08/01/2011 00:10

I've sent you a message in the other space regarding the lovelies.

I think I'm starting to figure out why I was so disgruntled last night.

Good night, lovely tea room ladies.

JM, have a fab flight and trip!

Jacksmama · 08/01/2011 01:31

Scout, do you want me to mail you a care package of those super calorie laden protein bars and cereal bars (Kellogg's Cinnamon Roll bars come to mind) that you seem to only be able to get in North America?

Just had my friend and her little boy here. Her DS is exactly a year older than JB and they play really well together. But holy cow, a nearly 3 and 4 year old together are like a pair of wild beasts. I've just cleaned up a veritable shitstorm of toys!! Had fun visiting with my friend though. She is 31 weeks pregnant and had a crap first delivery too. We were talking about her getting mentally ready for this one, and without thinking about it I said "give me a call if you need your back rubbed, I do great labour support" - and then thought, oh shit, thought about it for another second and realized, I do mean it - I'd feel totally ok being with her in labour!!!! Wow. She knows the whole horrid story and looked at me for a second and said, seriously??? I said yeah, I think so - I think I'd be fine, and she broke into a huge smile and said, that's awesome, I'll definitely call you!
I used to LOVE doing labour support for my friends before I had JB. Then after of course I couldn't even think about it. I occasionally have to drive by the hospital where I had him and I usually get a bit shaky even looking at it. But she's going to the local hospital, and I've been there to see a patient's new baby and was fine. I'm pretty pleased about feeling so ok about the idea of doing labour support again. :)

JM have a great trip! Glad you've gotten past what was obviously some trauma at JB's birth.

Scout no treats are bad if they are just that, treats and occasionally. It's the food is good/bad fallacy that leads to bad eating habits, whether you are trying to lose or gain. ::tee gets off soap box::

::hands 'round full English and tea or coffee::

amberlight · 08/01/2011 09:16

Did labour support, and trained as an NCT birth partner. Wonderful stuff.

Waiting for bloke to turn up and fit new tyre on Flora the (t)rusty Land Rover, before going out curtain-hunting with an old friend and then find somewhere with a nice quiet tea room irl. If I buy curtains, logically I will still be alive and well enough after next week's operation to enjoy them (hey, this sort of logic works for me right now!). I will be fine

Tee2072 · 08/01/2011 09:24

You will be fine. You will be fine. You will be fine.

Scout19075 · 08/01/2011 10:09

Oh, JM, might take you up on that when you return. We could do a swap -- I can restock your pantry with Galaxy....

I know everything in moderation, but I'm sure half a packet of biscuits at a good is not moderation or good.
