And we live in a world where this attack has not been condemned for the religiously aggravated attack that it is.

Exactly what the racists say and then they go attack any brown person even a Sikh because they think their Muslim! How many time have you heard of or seen a white Muslim attacked? How many times have you heard of or seen brown person attacked because people thought they were a Muslim! So their either racist OR anti Muslim! Either way their ignorant

My white muslim husband has been attacked by anti islamic bigots for being a traitor. So yup white muslims do get attacked.

Me too. Physical violence, threats - we're 'traitora' and can be very vulnerable.

I work with a youth group, and earlier this year, we visited a mosque. I'm no expert, but my limited understanding of Islam is that it's a beautiful, respectful religion.
The Muslims that I have met are wonderful people.
As a PP said, there are bad eggs in every religion, country and ethnic group. That is not exclusive to Muslims at all.

I’m an atheist and take every individual I meet at face value. Personally, I believe all religions are nonsense and cause more harm than good.
I do struggle most though with religions where male and female worshippers are segregated and women seem somehow lesser.

Not really the point is it? Racism or xenophobia, it is still wrong. And the majority of racist people will assume someone is Muslim from the colour of their skin so you can easily argue it is both racism and xenophobia.

This sort of comment on a thread like this is why people feel they are being discriminated against.

I don’t think anyone is saying white Muslims don’t get attacked but, again, do we really need to point out someone else being abused/attacked? It is still more prevalent for non-white Muslims to be attacked than it is white Muslims. Or for people to be attacked simply because that are not white with the assumption that they or Muslim or just because they are not white.

As a white British atheist I have obviously never had to experience this kind of hatred and I am so sorry to those that do and because you have to fight to be believed or taken seriously.

There are currently slurs about child rape going unaddressed. I knew we were second or third class posters but this still managed to surprise me.

Absolutely, in the last couple of years the site has been populated by a particular type of racist that knows how to say offensive things in a way that they can't be deleted.

I report any Islamophobic posts I see and most get deleted, but yes, some are subtle...

There is a lot of hatred for many religions, I used to be a Mormon and got abused for years (they even made a musical mocking us). I do, however think the anti Muslim stuff is based on pure racism and hatred of non white people. It just gives bigots an excuse to pretend it's about the religion and not the colour.

Are there any atheists in Muslim countries? And are they tolerated? Just asking out of curiosity.

I don’t know YourApplePlumPoster, I’m a British Muslim and have never lived in a Muslim country. I don’t know what other countries do and don’t see why that is really relevant to how British Muslims are treated in their own country.

Another thread about Muslims and apparently how we we want to impose Sharia Law. It relentless. So many lies on it as well.

It is a blatant attempt at Muslim bashing.

They just believe what people say. They need to learn to stop and think.

I can’t answer this question specifically as I have never lived in a Muslim country. However, I’m atheist, with family and friends who are Muslim and they’re nothing but welcoming.
