Manchester airport

Regardless as to what happened to cause the physical restraint of these boys, it is clear that the force used was immeasurably beyond proportional. I really hope that the officers concerned get sacked and a a custodial sentence.
We always have issues in UK ports and airports and this certainly doesn't ease my concerns.

Never mind get sacked they should be locked up for assault. Kicking someone in the head and stamping on someone’s head is never acceptable. As a 30 year cop I never saw anything like this level of violence. It’s totally over the top.

PinkOtter · 24/07/2024 20:07

Absolutely disgusting
I have issues every time I fly from Manchester, the back story is someone rammed their trolley into the guys mum and an argument erupted
The police took the other guys side and what happened on camera happened, and the mum was also assaulted by them.

Bouliegirl · 24/07/2024 20:08

I’m not Muslim. But I hope you don’t mind me commenting.

Saw this on Facebook today: absolutely no excuse for this at all. What justification did the officer have for this?

determinedtochange24 · 24/07/2024 20:12

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the Police

pandasorous · 24/07/2024 20:28

The man who was being pinned against the wall started “throwing punches, he was Tasered, and fell to the floor”, Mr Minhas said.
“That’s when the policeman kicked him”. from bbc

no excuse for such behaviour

Parkingt111 · 24/07/2024 21:56

That video is sickening to watch, imagine if it wasn't recorded.
I know someone who recently joined the police force and now regrets it. There is so much casual racism which junior police officers are hesitant to report because it is just supposed to be taken as 'banter'

poshsnobtwit · 24/07/2024 22:50

Just saw the police officer has been "removed from front line duty". So not suspended pending investigation, he's probably been moved into an office. @Parkingt111 there was a report a few years ago that revealed the Metropolitan Police was "blighted with institutionalized racism".

Who gets into a physical fight at an airport? Bizarre.

poshsnobtwit · 25/07/2024 08:45

@Beefcurtains79 this particular incident was an assault by a police officer, not a fight.

So how did a female Police Officer end up with a broken nose?
Anyone who kicks someone else in the head in the line of duty should be sacked. Then criminal charges should be brought.

TerfTalking · 25/07/2024 08:49

I was shocked too, I literally winced and gasped as I saw that boot go in. DD is a HCP and has worked many days in A&E, she says there is a significant percentage of police who come in with arrested people that are on obvious power trips, seems to be a qualification for the job these days.

the female officer got slagged off on Twix for being useless and hand wringing, I think she was shocked at the viciousness personally.

Did she? I missed that, off back to Google for updates.

Charlieiscool · 25/07/2024 08:59

There is no excuse for kicking someone in the face and stamping on their head even if the victim turns out to be the one that broke the woman PC’s nose. We need to wait for the investigation.

Beefcurtains79 · 25/07/2024 09:18

There’s no excuse for breaking a women’s nose either, or starting a fight in the airport in the first place.
Shame on everyone involved.

Totally agree!! Everyone seems to be forgetting that a woman was assaulted!

poshsnobtwit · 25/07/2024 10:10

The police are obligated to uphold the law. Can you imagine if every suspected criminal was physically assaulted by the police? There is a reason we have law and order, it is there regardless of the crimes that a perpetrator commits.

This doesn't excuse anyone kicking and stamping on someone's head when they are on the floor.

I'm not Muslim, but I can see this is likely to be due to racism.

I've worked for the police for a very long time and this is not acceptable behaviour. Officers like this are being dealt with and sacked

That does not excuse the police officers actions, kicking a prone man, who was face down on the floor, in the head.

ArseholeCatIsABlackAndWhiteCat · 25/07/2024 10:17

@themadhat that would be relevant IF the kicking occurred while the police officers were being attacked.

There is the onus on police officers to behave responsibly and within the law. That burden is far higher than on Joe Public. Punishment should therefore be more severe than if it was a random Joe Public kicking and stamping on someone! It's barbaric and there is NO excuse at all for it, whatever the guy had done or said beforehand.

It's incomprehensible that it has taken so long.

You can bet your bottom dollar that had there been no video and social media exposure, he'd have been back at the airport on normal duties today!

That's why we need more door cams, webcams, dash cams, and people need to be more willing to take videos on their mobiles. It's the only way that people like that PC will ever be held to account.

Decades ago on a Panorama-type programme they were interviewing young policemen in relation to racism - the area was Lancashire or Yorkshire, can't remember which one.

One of the officers said something along the lines of he grew up in a rural area and was not racist, in fact he proudly claimed that he'd never even heard the word P*ki until he joined the police.

Which says it all really.

Your seeing a video completely out of context! Yes it was extreme but maybe don't cause trouble and assault women in the first place.

No, a trained/professional police officer shouldn't act like a thug, whatever has gone before, particularly once the offender in question has been "neutralised" as a threat. He was 100% out of order.
