i have to say george michael was amazing and so has pink, josh groban and o.m.d i've seen some amazing acts but christina aguilara was completely pathetic. she was over an hour late didnt dance, couldnt walk the stage without help from her dancers and was completely half assed

Agree with George Michael and OMD saw them about a thousand years ago, brilliant. Duran Duran also fab, but am a longstanding fan. Robbie Williams very, very good and entertaining. Divine Comedy were excellent too. Never liked Destiny's Child until I saw them live and then my opinion completely changed they were really good.

Gary Glitter was dreadful, and the worst by far has to be some guy called Yngwie J. Malmsteen who an old boyfriend took me to see in the 80's. A rock concert where everybody sat in their seats bored out of theirs skulls.

SixtyFootDoll · 23/05/2010 11:52

BEst - Kasabian, Bon Jovi, Rolling Stones, Newton Faulkner
Worst - Terrence Trent Darby

NorkyButNice · 23/05/2010 11:55

Best - Killers, Muse
Worst - Pixies (yawn)

purepurple · 23/05/2010 15:17

Best - Placebo, Florence and the Machine, Maximo Park and Devo

Worst - Glasvegas and a new band called the Drums

Earlybird · 23/05/2010 15:39

Best -
Prince (in a small venue),
Bruce Springsteen (on the 4th of July in America),
Neil Young (outdoors, in the summer, in the pouring rain),
Madonna (in Paris),
Metallica (had a pass to their VIP fan area 'the snakepit' in the centre of the stage)
Robert Plant (at Glastonbury)
Oasis (at Earl's Court in London)

Worst -
Pat Matheny (not into his music, went with an ex)
David Sanborn (boring)
Iggy Pop (so loud our ears literally hurt)
Tracy Chapman (why did she play stadiums with no band/no stage set/no screens - just her sat on a stage with a guitar? Either hire a band for those large spaces and put on a show, or play smaller venues for an 'unplugged' show )

horseyrider · 27/05/2010 20:26

Best - A-ha (especially the second and fourth times!!) Rufus Wainwright as well. Very entertaining!!

Worst - Level 42 (my brothers a fan, and thats the only reason I went)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 27/05/2010 20:27

best..Pixies, Bruce Springsteen
worst..Van Morrison

Jbck · 27/05/2010 20:30

Best - loads, REM (smaller venues), Killers, Neil Young, Bare Naked Ladies
Worst - New Order & the Ramones tie. Ramones I'd have been better off sitting at home listening to their albums.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 27/05/2010 20:31

ooh..best, also, Jeff Buckley, in a tiny venue..amazing

Booboobedoo · 27/05/2010 20:33

Best: White Stripes. Twice. They are spellbinding live.

Worst: Velvet Underground. Huge, crushing disappointment. They looked terminally bored, and I was the only person in the crowd not dressed in a black polar-neck.

piratecat · 27/05/2010 20:34

fanjo i am totally totally green with envy, i am such a huge fan i have a tiny tattoo dedicated to him.

best The charlatans in brixton academy

worst

ticktockclock · 27/05/2010 20:34

Oh, I'd like to add Spinal Tap (in the 90's) to be BEST list.

BertieBotts · 27/05/2010 20:38

Best: Muse, hands down. Amazing.
Worst: Haven't really been to any bad gigs, but have seen some awful support acts, who I can't even remember the names of.

ShowOfHands · 27/05/2010 20:39

Best- Marilyn Manson, REM, Mauvais Sort

Worst- Beth Orton or Chumbawamba

LyraSilvertongue · 27/05/2010 20:40

Best: Muse at the O2 in November and the Casino de Paris on Tuesday.

Worst: The Big Pink. To be fair it was a support set but it was dull and I went to buy drinks till they'd finished.

Second worst: Red Hot Chili Peppers at Earls court. The venue was more to blame than the band. I was seated and everybody around me stayed seated so I couldn't stand, and I was so high up the sound was really distorted and unlistenable.

maktaitai · 27/05/2010 20:41

Best:
Bruce Springsteen at the Milton Keynes Bowl around 93
B52s at Brixton Academy
Squeeze at an embarrassing venue

Worst:
The Mission at some Kentish hellhole but I am totally not a fan

BrigitteBardot · 27/05/2010 20:44

Best: Radiohead, House of Love
Worst: Pink Floyd

Cicatrice · 27/05/2010 20:46

Best: AC/DC

Worst: Rush(couldn't see a thing - must have been in a tall part of the crowd and the sound was rubbish.)

senua · 27/05/2010 21:00

"UB40 (At the Odean in Bham before they became really big)" ooh, cat64, were we at the same gig? The whole house was jumping. Huge speakers facing the Dress Circle, who were pogo-ing to the beat: I thought it was going to be like one of those bridges that collapse under the oscillation of everyone marching in step.

One of the most spellbinding live gigs I ever saw was, in fact, not live. It was on the telly - Pink Floyd, reunited for the last time, for the G20 summit or whatever it was.

MavisEnderby · 27/05/2010 21:05

Bset REM,The Who.

Worst The Jesus and Mary Chain at Rock City in Nottingham cica 1988.

Fanjo...you saw Jeff Buckley?I am currently obsessed with listening to Grace. You lucky person!

Snorbs · 27/05/2010 21:27

Best - Ooh, difficult choice. James Brown at the Brixton Academy was fantastic, The Cure at Crystal Palace were spell-binding, and Fields of the Nephilim [dodgy old goth emoticon] were always absolutely storming live.

Worst? I've seen some truly woeful support bands - Creaming Jesus, for instance. But I think the worst headliner I've ever seen has been The Sisters of Mercy. I'm a big Sisters fan and have been for decades, but they really are disappointing live. Hasn't stopped me goint to see them several times, mind.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 27/05/2010 21:28

Yes, I stood right in front of him
