i have to say george michael was amazing and so has pink, josh groban and o.m.d i've seen some amazing acts but christina aguilara was completely pathetic. she was over an hour late didnt dance, couldnt walk the stage without help from her dancers and was completely half assed

Best? I can't believe no-one has said U2 yet. I've seen them twice (first time supported by B52's who were also great) and they really do put on a fantastic show.

Worst? Take your pick from any of the really dodgy bands who would play our student union when I was an undergrad (far too numerous to name).

piratecat · 27/05/2010 21:56

ok this is a bit embarrassing, but i saw Billy Joel once and he was absulutely amazing.

i once saw Elton John too, and he was dreadful, and so up his own arse. the only drink they had on sale was Pimms, and me and my freind laughed all the way thru, despite being brought up on Yellow brick road stuff.

he really was a tit.

piratecat · 27/05/2010 21:57

another best

Pulp in a theatre in 1994, in west end, absolutely stunning show.

piratecat · 27/05/2010 21:58

Portofino · 27/05/2010 22:05

REM
U2
The Who doing Quadrophenia at the Princes Trust concert in Hyde Park.
Space {odd one I know]
Haircut 100 at BCC - first ever gig and it was SO exciting.

Worst, um Eric Clapton was a bit and Fairground Attraction very tedious....

piratecat · 27/05/2010 22:07

my ex dh was onstage with the who at that concert!! as a mod!

MavisEnderby · 27/05/2010 22:10

Piratecat The Who were amazing live,I have never been a massive fan,but got free tickets and when I saw them they were bloody brilliant!

Theyremybiscuits · 27/05/2010 22:17

good memories!

DuelingFanjo · 27/05/2010 22:21

The worst was Stone Roses at Reading festival in about 1995, terribly out of tune.

Best... erm, most recently Midlake in Bristol or from ages ago Sugarcubes in Manchester or Smashing Pumpkins at Reading.

I missed Nirvana once, they played a secret anonymous gig in a tiny pub along the road from my house, I heard the rumours but didn't believe it. Also went to see Madder Rose (who?) instead of a new band called Oasis (still unknown)...

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 28/05/2010 07:33

and i am at piratecat seeing Pulp!

ClaireDeLoon · 28/05/2010 07:41

Best was Red Hot Chili Peppers in Hyde Park

Worst was either Pink Floyd 'cos they're crap and I only went because of DP or REM at Hyde Park , the concert had been delayed a week because of the London bombings and they were so half assed and not wanting to be there it was terrible.

weegiemum · 28/05/2010 07:46

Good:
U2
Afro Celt Sound System (totally amazing)
Peatbog Faeries
Proclaimers
La Boutinne Souriante
Shooglenifty

(bit of a folkie here)

Bad:
Lots of very bad slightly pissed folkie bands in small pubs!

waitingforbedtime · 28/05/2010 07:50

Blur - useless, turned up late, kept going off for 'breaks' afetr almost every song etc etc, no charisma

Green Day - amazing, wasnt that much of a fan before I saw them but they were excellent.

Badly Drawn Boy - also very good.

chickensaresafehere · 28/05/2010 07:52

Best:-
Guns n'Roses (Wembley Stadium)
Foo Fighters (Wembley Stadium)
Audioslave (Wolverhampton Civic)

Worst:-
Guns n'Roses (Maine Road,Manc)-Axl arrived nearly 2 hours late & couldn't wait to get off the stage-wanker!!
Slipknot (MEN arena)-Sat right at the back, they were awesome, but they were tiny on stage, with no screens,if you are seeing Slipknot you need to be in the mosh pit!!
RIP Paul Gray(sad)

Sexonlegs · 28/05/2010 07:52

Coldplay at the O2 were amazing.
Bruce Springsteen years ago at the old Wembley was fab.
Jamie Cullum at the Brighton Centre was wonderful- felt very intimate.
U2 somewhere in Montreal were fantastic- they walked down the aisles on to the stage and I could practically touch them all!!

Worst was Robbie Williams; the venue was a football stadium in Amsterdam and it was just so big we couldn't see much; really disappointing.

waitingforbedtime · 28/05/2010 07:54

Oh and I forgot - Tracey Chapman, amazing live, her support act was great too - Ben Taylor I think.

onebadbaby · 28/05/2010 07:56

Another for George Michael here [heart emoticon]

Saw Kylie she was good- but the concert lacked warmth.

Stereophonics were good too!

lottiejenkins · 28/05/2010 08:09

The one only i didnt enjoy live was Debbie Harry, she was part of the Summer XS in 1991. Very fat and squashed into a very tight black basque!! I have seen INXS, and Sir Elton John(brilliant) (James Blunt was support before he was famous, i was furious because Scissor Sisters had done the other gigs, my more or less exact words were who the .... is James Blunt ) The last gig i saw was REM. They played Portman Road the day after the London Bombs, they walked to the fron of the stage and made a speech about what affect the bombs had had on London and then launched into Everybody Hurts. I totally blubbed! My most embarassing gig was taking my niece to see Busted and McFly at Christchurc Park!!

Snorbs · 28/05/2010 08:18

I saw Tori Amos at the Albert Hall. She was captivating.

DuelingFanjo · 28/05/2010 08:31

Saw Pulp supporting St Ettienne in Cardiff some time in 1993. They were great but I hated St Ettienne and really resented having to pay for a ticket to see them too.
