What song always gets you?
What song brings back a memory for you?

Another anniversary one from me:

Bryan Adams - Heaven

I should really have put these in chronological order with hindsight!

Hey Jude.
Thirteen/ fourteen camping with family in Brittany. Large group of French teens who played guitars and played this it was magical to me. Now if ever I hear it it always takes me back fifty plus years.

What a lovely thread! In terms of what reminds me most of of old friends, this has to be close to the top:

Bitty McLean - It Keeps Rainin' (Tears From my Eyes).

Someone's 18th birthday party, just a few days before Christmas, in a long-gone provincial nightclub. The girl I had a massive crush on turned up somewhat unexpectedly with a guy in tow, who was far better looking than I. Like the idiot I was I must have been looking askance at them, so she came over and told me to f*ck off to the back of beyond. I spent the rest of the night in a miserable daze, and my last memory of the evening was leaving the club and turning around to see the two of them slow dancing to Bitty's ditty.

It put a bloody downer on Christmas, I can tell you!

Love Will Tear Us Apart. I'm listening to the John Peel show on the radio in my bedroom and I hear this song for the first time. I've just turned 16, on the verge of leaving home with the future an open book. Life was exciting, the future was mine. Those opening chords still tear through my soul and take me back to that moment.

Clock - Oh What A Night. Takes me back to a work Xmas Do with my 2 best friends, the three of us dancing and singing together.

Pink - Who Knew. Always makes me cry. Fit so well for me at the time wondering what the hell happened with a guy I was mad about.

Autumn Days - back in the school assembly hall lol

Jon Bon Jovi - Midnight in Chelsea - from a visit to one of my best friends new place in London at 18/19 years old

Ronan Keating - When You Say Nothing At All - my wedding and the 3D scan we had of our eldest child.

Europe - The Final Countdown and the Never Walk Alone version of Auld Land Syne - every New Years Eve from 13 when I DJ’d.

Hey Jude - my Grandad. We played it at his funeral.

Islands in the Stream - singing karaoke with my mum, this was her song.

Michelle - I remember hearing my dad sing this on karaoke one night when I was under 10. He NEVER sang on karaoke. It was my name so it felt special.

Im sure there are thousands more! I definitely associate songs with situations etc (makes me great in a music quiz as I often remember the year because of events associated with the song).

Black Velvet Band - my late brother
Nothings gonna change my Love for you - Glenn Madeiros (my daughters school exchange visit to France)
For the Good Times - Perry Como (my ex)
WakeMe up before You GO-Go - Wham (I'll leave to the imagination!)

Good memories of us singing this! I had the exact same outfit as Mariah! 😂 It's just my singing voice that let it down 😂
