It was the song I felt I could connect to at the time. A while before this I had been sexually abused for a period of time. I had blocked it out for a long time. I was still in contact with the person. One day he apologised for what he had done. I wasn't ready for that. I wasn't the best mentally to start with. Anyway a few days later I done a bunk from home. Even though the person didn't live at home. I didn't tell anyone a thing. I just left. I went and stayed in a hostel it was a 28 day stay. I didn't eat for 28 days. I was having panic attacks. I kept taking mini over doses. I was sleeping alot. I remember I kept seeing a girl flicking her long hair back. But that didn't really happen. I remember having some kind of seizure I could feel myself shaking but couldn't do anything about it. I remember hostel staff bringing some toast on a plate and I really panicked. I was moved on to a hostel in soho. I eventually agreed that a family member could be contacted. But yeah that was my song I played it over and over.

Hey there Delilah. It came out when I was working at a summer camp in New York. One day we were listening to it and someone said 'i feel like for the rest of my life whenever I hear this song I'm going to be able to close my eyes and be transported right back to this moment'. 20 years later I can testify, it does. I can practically feel the bench at my back, hear the cicadas and smell the breeze through the cedar trees every time that song comes on.

Another one one day like this by elbow. I was at Glastonbury with my ex, we had a very toxic relationship. He was midway through stomping off with his bag packed saying he was leaving and I was following him trying to get him to change his mind. Ended up at the back of the pyramid field as that song came on, the sun was setting, it was a beautiful day and I thought actually...you can just crack on. So I stood there and listened to this song I'd never heard before and thought how this should have been an excellent day and that I was done with letting him ruin them. He came back shortly after. Quite sheepishly as actually turns out his bag wasn't even packed, he'd just grabbed it for show. We broke up soon after. Song always makes me think about where I lay my energy and what is important in life! I listened to it in the car with DH and the children recently and was so content with my little world as it is now ❤️ so thanks Elbow!

Not my kind of song but it does remind me of being on holiday. The UK was having extended rainfall. We completely missed it all.

I worked behind a bar in town, this lad used to come in and I thought he was very attractive. 'Me and Mrs Jones' always seemed to be playing on the jukebox, and I sort of associated that song with him. Then one of the staff told me it was always him that put the tune on before he came up to the bar, and wait for me to serve him. Crafty.

We have been married for decades now, and I still love the song.

Too many to mention! Music and memories are very intertwined for me. I can hear a song I've not heard in years and I'm taken back to a specific place and time

I worked for a company who shared a car park with another company. My car kept getting blocked in a parking space (mysteriously...when there were plenty of other spaces). I had to keep going to the neighbouring company and saying I was blocked in again.... always the same car blocking me in..... I married him 2 years later! He said he needed to find a way to speak to me! ☺️

I think your husband and mine had the same crafty streak, but we forgive them when it works out good in the end.

Reminds me of when this was being played on the radio and we sang along to it in the kitchen - neither of us can sing or dance - by the end we were laughing so much it was incoherent anyway!

My then recently new partner had to go abroad for work a couple of weeks into us getting together. He sent me this song by email on the day he was travelling out. He titled it 'When You Know'. I kept the email for years! We later got married.

I've never had so many memories flood back.

It was on the radio during a very sad taxi ride. It was a beautiful sunny day outside.

Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden.

It was played at my friends funeral when I was 16 in the late 90's, and I can't hear that song without being taken right back to that moment in time - the shock and tragedy of her death, the people I was friends with then, the place where I lived (which I have since moved away from)...it really hits.

I keep reflecting on this question and so many more songs and memories have come to mind!

Love Fool - Cardigans - my Mum and I had quite a difficult relationship when I was a teenager. I really struggled to cope with the pressure from school exams, music exams and a very testing time related to my sport. I felt like I was drowning and my Mum made the whole thing harder. We barely spoke to each other at that time, but every week she drove me to my piano lesson and this song that we both loved always came on the radio. And we would sing it together - probably not all that well - but for that one moment each week at a really difficult time in our relationship we sang and laughed together and I felt close to my Mum.

I remember my Dad dancing and singing to Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" and he had to sit down afterwards! Makes me laugh and feel sad at the same time.
