NCO 2024/25 auditions

Is there anyone waiting for NCO audition results for projects/main this year?

I am normally a lurker, but as the decision is nearing I want to share the wait. My dd is a cellist and probably will miss on the projects programme again, but hey, I will be happy to hear any positive news from the others and maybe we all can share tips as to how to improve for next time.

I have just received this from the NCO after asking about the timeframe.Blush

"Thank you for your email.

I can confirm that the audition results will be sent out around mid-October."

Fingers crossed for everyone!

This is so helpful @BlueAndYelow - thank you for emailing! I had wondered if it would be longer as I had been looking at the number of views on the video on youtube and it looked like it hadn’t been viewed yet as the number of watches hadn’t increased save for me logging on a gazillion times!

Maybe they are sending them in stages - first to those they are very keen to invite and as these children accept/reject their spaces are reallocated. I have no idea how it works!

I don't think they just leave people hanging, I think they email accepts and declines at the same time, maybe some reserve places too. (DD got told she was on a reserve list one year.) There's a fairly short deadline for accepting places, with a chance to apply for bursaries if you need one at the same time. Then after that deadline they'll sort out offering any reserve places.

Used to be it would take them a few days to email the different orchestras; last year I had the impression they had them all cued up to send at close to the same time. FWIW I just checked back and our email arrived 2pm on a Friday.

Last year they sent out results on the 20th October so hopefully some time next week - fingers crossed

Have to admit I thought it would be today but its not looking like it will be now. Its dragging this year!

Also waiting. Mid october did really suggest this week. I still think it will be today as usually they give two weeks to accept the place and they won’t want to risk that falling across the various half term weeks which seem to be next week for some and the week after (or both for others). I cant really understand why it is so hard to just give a date and send them then.

It is a bit frustrating when the original application date was end of July.

People can't commit to things like booking the family summer holiday until they have heard which makes it annoying when its so slow.

I get that they want to give late applicants a chance but if they set the late application deadline a week earlier perhaps decisions could be issued a little earlier.

I would have thought if it is today we would have had the results by now - but you never know they may send them later this evening. I’m sure they will send them out by next week hopefully.

Id be really surprised if it was sent after usual working hours. I know these things can be scheduled for another time but surely something like this you'd want to send during your working so you can check it had all gone ok?

I don't tell mine when they are expected but when almost 3 months (!!) has passed they start asking!
Its a really long time to wait and if im honest I don't really understand why it takes quite so long.
