Having come across some v misogynistic attitudes across social media on heavy metal boards I thought I would start a thread were is women fans of all things hard and heavy could hang out, feel free to say hi.

Tuesday was also my baby’s due date, watching Bruce chuck himself about on stage when I’m so pregnant I can barely get out of my seat was slightly exhausting! The staff were all panicking I’d have the kid there 😂

Well done for making it to the gig! Hopefully not too much longer to wait now.

Just arrived at my hotel in Nottingham . Can see Rick City from my room.

My son introduced me to Sabaton. Saw them in London on 9th February 2020. They got me through lockdowns.
Did anyone see their film in museums in November. Just fantastic.
I like Rammstein, Nightwish, Powerwolf and The Hu too

No haven’t seen that will have to look it up. Love Nightwish and powewolf too. Love a bit of melody in the music as well as heaviness.

I see Bad Omens have cancelled the rest of their UK dates as the singer is struggling with his mental health.

Glad I didn't get a day ticket for Download now; I only wanted to see them and one other band. And I saw them this year already so it would have not been the best use of funds!

Cosmosforbreakfast · 23/05/2024 19:54

I'm thoroughly enjoying the new Nightwish song Perfume of The Timeless, love love love the music video too.

@Maatandosiris I think one of my many many name changes in recent times might have been NoahSebastiansNeckTattoo. I find it very attractive...

Ooh your taste is very similar to mine! I love Sabaton, The Hu, Powerwolf.

Brothers of Metal are in the same vein, pure cheesy power metal Grin

Just got back from the gig. Fucking hell they (and the crowd were on fire -blew Wolverhampton out the water. Being short and on my own it was great, no one minded where I stood so got perfect view on the steps. Illl be going solo far more often

That's awesome @Maatandosiris 👏

HolidayInCambodia · 24/05/2024 00:21

How did I miss this thread! I saw the title and came to say I once punched a man at a Pantera gig for groping me, but I see the conversation has moved on Grin

Wasn't there an MTV (?) programme called Headbangers Ball? I also vaguely remember a programme called 120 Minutes?

I like punk too. I am in my 50s and have a Mohican. Grin I bet that part of our Venn Diagram (don't know the maths terminology!) would also contain tattoos...

HolidayInCambodia · 24/05/2024 00:26

A friend of mine and I had a conversation the other day about men like Jon Bon Jovi and Sebastian Bach...at the time we thought they were hugely sexy, but I look back at pictures now and think they're just so pretty! If anyone is a similar age maybe you know what we mean?

TakeThePain · 24/05/2024 07:12

Yeah, like Nuno from Extreme too!

I think the men in the 80s were often the prettiest sex😀. Brett Michaels too!!

Yes Headbangers ball- the shining light in music broadcasting.

Anyone used to listen to Tommy Vance on Friday’s Rock show? It’s where I learned about so many bands. Listening to the radio in bed with my phone covered earphones (or sometimes a one ear plug.

That's awesome @Maatandosiris 👏

Thank you. My friend text me before the gig and said “you’re a starting independent woman” and he was so right, Heavy Metal fans really are the best of humanity

How did I miss this thread!

Big music fan here of all genres well most, not keen on rap or rnb.

Really got into folk metal of late, DDs fault. Grin

Seeing a rock covers band tomorrow and Sunday (courtesy of local pub, can't complain it's free entry)

You'll find us at everything from traditional heavy metal/rock through to Beethoven or my favourite classical Mahler. If anyone is in Bristol area I'm always up for a gig as dp isn't as keen on the heavy stuff (he likes prog more)

TakeThePain · 24/05/2024 08:56

They are @Maatandosiris and going to gigs alone is something most people wouldn't have the balls for, and makes you feel metal as fuck 😎

It’s struck me last night that being just you, alone in your enjoyment, being able to just concentrate on the experience not concerned about anyone else or spending energy on anything but the music, yet being surrounded by 1000s of others with similar focus is everything about Metal and being alive!

I felt the same. Sure it drags a bit with the waiting around beforehand, but there's something very satisfying about not having anyone else to consider; stand where you want, sing and dance with abandonment. It's glorious when you're right in it.

mitogoshi · 24/05/2024 09:18

Thanks for the tip on Sleep Token, listened on my way to work, pretty good

TakeThePain · 24/05/2024 09:22

Prepare to give hundreds of hours of your life away. I genuinely listen to them for hours a day, which is crazy when they only have about 40 songs. The lyrics just get right into my soul, and musically it's really clever and complex.

I listened to a couple of their songs yesterday, I could quite get into them. I like all the symbolism they seem to be using too - going to be doing a lot more digging.

Oh yeah @Maatandosiris I have gone massively down the rabbit hole and discovered that every song has its own coordinates etc.

The level of thinking behind every detail blows me away.

Love rabbit holes - esp any involving esoteric symbolism
