Having come across some v misogynistic attitudes across social media on heavy metal boards I thought I would start a thread were is women fans of all things hard and heavy could hang out, feel free to say hi.

Speaking of festival dates, is anyone keeping an eye on lineups as they're being released?

We were holding on for Graspop but the Rock am Ring/Im Park line up was released and we've decided to go for that. We're definitely not doing Download next year as it's on Father's Day weekend, and my dad - who usually has the DC for us while we go - has already told us that he's going next year instead!

We’re moving next summer so festivals are out unfortunately- who you looking forward to seeing?

I'm particularly looking forward to MÃ¥neskin as I've not seen them before - we had tickets to Reading for the day that they and RATM were playing but they both pulled out so we got a refund. We're not telling the DC though as I think they might be cross!

There are quite a few on the bill I've seen before and am definitely going to see again - A7X, Skindred, Wargasm, Pennywise, Billy Talent, Corey Taylor - which is plenty to be getting on with. And of course Green Day who I last saw in 2004 😂.

I like a festival as I'm rubbish at keeping up with buying gig tickets in the interim - the only thing I have booked in between now and then is Bowling for Soup in Feb.

Maatandosiris · 06/11/2023 11:04

Looks a great line up! I see green day are also playing IOW festival next year

Hi all I’ve been into metal since the early 90s. I have been checking out the festival line ups for next year.

Vettrianofan · 06/11/2023 23:00

Magnum also great to listen to.

Maatandosiris · 09/11/2023 13:43

Any take your fancy? The headliners on download are a bit strange - although it sounds like the struggled.

Im so excited got my tickets to see Bruce Dickinson next year. Was thinking he might play only festivals.

Anyone else really disappointed with the Download line-up?
We missed it this year as it clashed with something else so was looking forward to going in 2024 but it's hard to justify the expense when we're both meh about the bands.
We usually go to Stonedead too but, again, not feeling the bands this time.

Really want to get some gigs booked!

Missedmytoe · 11/11/2023 12:19

I like all sorts of music and enjoy a bit of metal I to the mix. People are usually taken aback by what I listen to, just because I look so mousy.
I'm currently quite liking Finnish folk metal, but I don't know what they're singing about.

Maatandosiris · 14/11/2023 13:19

Anyone going to see tool next year? See they’ve just announce tickets

Machine Head and Pantera at download. I like QOTSA and Avenged too but not particularly bothered about seeing them. I’ve seen MH and pantera before. MH many , many times since their first U.K. tour, the one after they supported Slayer. My son wants to see them both too.

Does anyone watch the MH sessions on YouTube?

What Finnish folk do you recommend?

turkeyboots · 14/11/2023 14:36

I love Tool, will have to look them up. Missed their last Dublin date. Last time I saw them was in 2005 I think. They were amazing

Samcro · 14/11/2023 14:44

love Avenged sevenfold. even have the bat skull tatt.

WeighDownOnMe · 14/11/2023 15:17

I really want to see Heilung but they've just toured America and not sure when they'll be back here.

It's not heavy metal. Not sure how to describe them tbh 😆

Vettrianofan · 14/11/2023 15:37

Hevisaurus are brilliant and really are family friendly.

Brewdug · 15/11/2023 10:20

For Finnish folk I've recently been reminded of the band Tenhi, I loved their album Kauan many moons ago. Minimalistic and evocative. A niche recommend!

Missedmytoe · 16/11/2023 11:13

Shall investigate those bands I've not heard if. I like a bit of Finntroll and Korpiklaani.

WeighDownOnMe · 16/11/2023 12:11

Enjoyed Tenhi, thanks!

Just bought Dirty Honey tickets for Feb

Bloody excellent live bank and the singer just oozes sex appeal
