A few weeks ago, I started a thread about lesser known hits from the 1980s. My favourite lesser known 90s songs include.
OMD - walking on the milky way.
Ali Campbell - that look in your eye.
Alisha rules the World - Alisha's attic (not as successful as their other singles but I much preferred it).
How bizarre by OMC. Scarlett with Independent love song (blatant rip off of November rain, but still ace)
You and me against the World by Space.
Deetah_ relax.
Music box _ everything is going to be alright.

Lazarus by Boo Radleys. Everytime I hear Wake Up Boo I roll my eyes.
Caught By The Fuzz by Supergrass. Ditto when I hear We're Alright.😂

Lazarus makes me cry because I think of someone I lost. It was in his playlist in his car.

Wake Up Boo makes me feel joyful.

I love them both.

Blinded by the sun the seahorses

This came straight to my mind too. Brilliant song and so fun to sing along to!

There are some absolute bangers on this thread 😃

scrivette · 10/09/2023 19:42

What a brilliant thread.

My offering is Every Morning by Sugar Ray.

BiliousOhGod · 10/09/2023 19:43

Apple Green by the Milltown Brothers. Don't know why, but I just loved this at the time.

Not a song but a band, the Longpigs were brilliant and I rarely hear them played/mentioned now.

Came on here to say exactly this!

UnctuousUnicorns · 10/09/2023 19:53

Oceanic - Insanity
Army Of Lovers - Crucify

Amazing thread! Some of these dguys nhs I still hear on the radio (absolute/absolute 90s) particularly on their indie disco show. But loads for a new playlist I think!

the divine comedy songs of love
space beautiful neighbourhood
my life story sparkle
Seahorses? love is the law
all beautiful south songs
you and me song wannadies

and for a film with lots of these songs- Shooting Fish!

BighairandIdontcare · 10/09/2023 19:57

I watched Worlds End last night (Simon Pegg, Nick Frost) and the soundtrack is epic! (Film not as good as Shaun of the dead or Hot Fuzz though!)

Stay by Lisa Loeb
Linger by the cranberries
What's up by 4 non blondes

lapsedbookworm · 10/09/2023 20:15

SteelyEyes · 10/09/2023 20:18

Everything on these two albums -

Bellybutton
Spilt Milk

Sadly the only two albums from Jellyfish

Bobbybobbins · 10/09/2023 20:23

Brilliant thread! If you haven't watched 'Derry Girls' the 90s soundtrack is epic!!!

Jellykat · 10/09/2023 20:28

I loved The Dandy Warhols!

I nominate 'Nice weather for ducks' by Lemon Jelly
and 'Spin spin sugar' by Sneaker Pimps

Badbadbunny · 10/09/2023 20:29

The Rumour, sung by Olivia Newton John, written by Elton John. Should have been a massive hit, but never got the air time needed. It had Elton John's typical sound and ONJ's vocals. No obvious reason why it didn't get anywhere - it had all the ingredients of a number one.

MehtotheChristmasrunup · 10/09/2023 20:36

Terrorvision - Bad Actress.
Love when it “ kicks in”

AlphaAlpha · 10/09/2023 20:43

Alcoholic - starsailor
Hell is around the corner - Tricky

The Cure - The 13th
Catherine Wheel - Black Metallic

Where have all the cowboys gone was by Paula Cole. Great song.
Someone up the thread said Pretty Fly for a White Guy was by Outkast - it was by The Offspring. Another good tune and band.
Toy Soldiers by Martika was great.
The days of pearly spencer by Marc Almond I heard the other day and thought that was a classic.
