Mumsnet is a weird music void, am I wrong?

I love my music: listening, playing (badly), and chatting about artists and gigs and festivals.

Mumsnet usually comes up trumps for most other hobbies but seems to be a bit crap for music lovers. All I ever really see are posts about kids learning instruments.

I find new stuff via friends, via Spotify (the thing that tells you that people who like x also like...), and via a couple of social media groups I'm in for particular bands.

@MichaelAndEagle I find Spotify the best way to find new stuff (new to me I add, might not be necessarily newly released). I quite often listen to Spotify radio which is basically stuff played to you based on what you usually listen to. For instance I have loads of playlists that I have created with songs that I know and love. But then Spotify will create a radio playlist based on my own playlist so I then get more artists to listen to.

That and the radio of course: I tend to listen to Radio 6 in the house. Occasionally I will listen to Rinse FM for some decent electro/techno sets while I’m cleaning or something. In the car I always listen to Radio X (used to be XFM) as I like their mix of new/old indie rock.
