Some have been calling it the Mumsnet election, so we want to know what you think - whether you'll bother to go and vote at all, and which political leader ticks your box.

This survey is open to every Mumsnetter in the UK. We will be repeating this survey regularly between now and the election, so please look out for it again. We'll be asking about topical issues in future surveys, too.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 in Boden or Amazon vouchers.

Thanks and good luck!

booohiss

Why are we overseas MNetter not allowed to vote?

cyteen · 04/02/2010 15:38

Bloody furriners, coming over here, stealing our votes...

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 04/02/2010 15:43

I've done it. I vote Belledechocolatefluffybunny for minister of mischief and mayhem.

KnottyLocks · 04/02/2010 15:45

Dunnit. Twas easy. Think I passed.

ShowOfHands · 04/02/2010 15:51

I voted for a Friday Night Topic.

When do I get it?

nickelbabe · 04/02/2010 16:00

i have never kept my voting habit a secret, because i'm not ashamed of who i support.

i would love to receive vouchers too (but to Boden not amazon because i'm an independent bookseller and it would be a bit defeatist...)

morningpaper · 04/02/2010 16:00

I think Nick Clegg has pledged support for a Friday Night topic

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 04/02/2010 16:01

Yeah, but what biscuits does he like?

BettyBizzghetti · 04/02/2010 16:08

I will enter any survey if I stand even the teeniest chance of winning a Boden voucher.

ShowOfHands · 04/02/2010 16:10

I always did like that Nick Clegg.

Lulumama · 04/02/2010 16:21

done !

policywonk · 04/02/2010 16:35

I have the Boden satchel. DS1 busily undid one of the (fake) buckles this morning as we were walking to school. I only noticed when it fell at my feet outside the classroom door. Little tyke.

JustineMumsnet · 04/02/2010 16:46

Hello - yes sorry we should have said who it was for (my fault). Actually it's for our soon to be created politics page (pull your finger out Gerry!) We thought we'd do a poll and then follow up with regular ones perhaps around specific issues that crop in the election so we can track how/whether particular issues are making any difference to mumsnetters and then publish it on the site in the form of a nice graph with arrows and stuff...

HellBent · 04/02/2010 16:52

Done!

KnottyLocks · 04/02/2010 16:53

Oooooo sounds pretty.

ilovesprouts · 04/02/2010 16:54

done, please let me win i never win anything sob !!!

Wereworm · 04/02/2010 17:00

Thank you for the answer.

Is this because you have evidenced demand for such info from Mumsnetters, or because you judge that it will bring you publicity?

I ask because I increasingly feel that the usership is being plundered as a publicity resource. You might say, if you wanted to stretch a point, that publicity around 'what matters to parents' is a way of 'making parents' lives easier'.

But I would have thought that one way of 'making parents' lives easier' would be to allow a parenting support site to be just that, and not double- or triple-up its function in ways whose proven effects are only to rack up the publicity for the site.

I'm sorry to sound so bitter. It's only because there is so much that is good about MN that I feel sad about developments that seem to me to be bad.

jennylindinha · 04/02/2010 17:01

done! OOh, I love graphs.

LilRedWG · 04/02/2010 17:03

done

Wereworm · 04/02/2010 17:12

"But I would have thought that one way of 'making parents' lives easier' would be to allow a parenting support site to be just that"

--I should have said "...to allow a parenting talk forum to be just that"

Just to be clear.

JustineMumsnet · 04/02/2010 17:18

It's because we think it will (or might be) be interesting to see the results - for Mumsnetters and non-Mumsnetters. We've had this discussion about publicity what seems like a million times now Thready and I know you don't like the usual response but I'm afraid that's what I'm going to give you - we want to spread the Mumsnet word. We think Mumsnet is a great resource and we want people to know about it. We know that it's not what you want from or of Mumsnet and we don't like to be a disappointment but we have always been upfront about the fact that we're not publicity shy because we want newbies (we think it makes for a better board) and we want to more people to know about us.

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 04/02/2010 17:19

Has anyone voted for me?

frakkinaround · 04/02/2010 17:22

Indeed why can't overseas MNers with voting rights in the UK vote in this? I'm voting in the General Election, utilising my 'you can vote by post or proxy in the district you were last resident in' card.

Hassled · 04/02/2010 17:35

Am I statistically more likely to win if I post "Done" after I've completed something? Is there a graph with arrows for that?

Because I'm now in my fourth year of entering MN competitions and I've yet to win so much as a poke in the eye. Not that I'm bitter.

Labour, btw.

Bumperlicious · 04/02/2010 17:43

I wondered how long it would be before we had this poll.

I said Lib Dem, but it'll be a tactical vote
