Hi @YanaMumsnet I (think) I just took the survey by clicking on your link and just realised I don't think it asked for my email or mumsnet name? Not sure if it will have automatically done this? Sorry if I've had a stupid moment and it was my mistake!

@ThatCurlyGirl
Thank you for your feedback.
The question was missing and is now added at the end of the survey as usual. Sorry about this!

This is affecting 3 users in total, including you - please drop me a personal message with the your responses to some of the questions to just match you to your response and will manually add you to the prize draw, no problem! Thanks so much.

No probs at all! I've been the other side of market research and would have hated to have only heard it was missing when loads of people had done it - thanks for sorting so quickly Smile

The only family I fly with is my sister when we visit relatives abroad, so I’ve done it with her in mind. I’d say the biggest struggle I have is getting her out of Duty Free.

Is the prize draw for a £300 voucher of a £100 one? The thread title says £100 and the body of the post £300.

Not that it probably makes much difference!

Done but I made a mistake...The last airline we flew with was not Jet2 but Monarch. Sorry, it only occurred to me after pressing the compete button.

Done but bit annoying as all my answers on facilities etc were skewed by the fact we have went business class last time due to DH having air miles from business trips. So I was very satisfied but I’m sure it might not normally have been the case!

Weird survey. It focuses on business travel but then in the middle sticks in a couple of questions about your last flight (which for me happened to be business travel).

My last flight wasn't typical either (and last airport was arrival only, so quite a lot of stuff shouid have been n/a rather than neutral, but there was no option for that.

Also, who do you need exact age for this? Most surveys ask for age by bracket. Could do with that, or a 'prefer not to say' option

Completed. Have a total fear of flying but more to do with the take off than anything else!

Report
Aberhonddu · 30/08/2019 21:26

I've just completed this survey, I don't have a fear of flying I have a fear of crashing. After all I'm not flying the plane. I know and fully understand that for me this fear is all about control. I'll never enjoy flying but if I want to get to a place that's a long way away then flying is the quickest and easiest option

Migration is not listed as an option as the main reason for travel by plane.

For the last few Qs about last airport used - we travelled there by air not car so some of the aspects weren't relevant - eg parking/ food court etc
And you should have added what class did you fly as that makes a difference

I agree- it didn't establish the basics. Neither did it ascertain what airline status benefits you have ie seat booking, additional usage, lounge access which would influence responses.

My last flight was BA 1st class- it was a poor 1st experience but still better than economy.

Last flight was my last flight, barring disaster requiring flying. It is horrible for the environment and stressful for the whole family. Train and ferry from this point forward.

Couldn't follow this survey. I couldn't tell which questions were about the last time I flew and which were about the last time I flew with my family. Also, the last airline with which I flew with my family went bust a couple of years ago.

Aspergersmum - supposing you want to go somewhere long haul? You can't take a boat to Australia!!!

Report
Strugglingtodomybest · 05/09/2019 17:47

There should have been a 'don't care' option on most of those questions!

Report
AspergersMum · 05/09/2019 21:17

@milktraylimebarrel Want is different to Need though. I don't need to travel by air. It wasn't that long ago that people would immigrate by boat on a one-way ticket to the new world and never come back. Now we feel like we have to travel the globe to keep up with the Jones. We are so lucky to live so close to mainland Europe and be able to get there by train - that is more than enough for me.

Hmm, interesting questions.
I have flown alone since I was 8, back in the 80's as my DF moved overseas so after a test flight ( he flew over to Birmingham and I was to join him on the return flight - there was a bomb scare at the airport in between our flights - no idea how my DM didn't refuse to let me go, to be honest!)
Flying now is completely different to how it was then.
I have flown absolutely loads over the years - to see family, for work, holidays etc.
This past 12 months is actually the longest that i have ever gone without flying for one reason or another.
I have has many many different experiences over the years - always easier flying on my own! As a couple; for our wedding with family; pregnant; with a baby/small child at 6 month intervals; as a single parent - I have probably experienced most variations.
I'm not sure what the questions were aiming to achieve but they don't give a full indication of normal patterns and usage.

Done. The questions did make me think, especially that there are often really no child-friendly food options on flights. My two aren't very fussy but options aren't great.

I liked the question about would I recommend the airline. Think not as it was Thomas Cook.
