I've never quite understood the need for a final salary pension (maybe I'm just a bit dim ) but like a PP my biggest outgoings, by far, are mortgage and childcare/costs, c. 40% current net income. I'm planning to have neither of those by the time I retire so doesn't that mean I can keep a similar standard of living on pension that's 40% less than my current income (once tax etc has been taken into account)? And I'll have a free bus pass!

Because I am in the 50s born group I was robbed of the contributions I put in. I do not therefore trust in the providers ...in this case, the government to keep to the contract.
