Tis done

MotherWol · 21/09/2018 11:09

Done - university employee and USS member. Our pension scheme is a big can of worms at the moment.

LOVELYDOVEY05 · 21/09/2018 12:19

When Mrs Thatcher sold off the Council houses she also allowed firms to stop offering Final salary pension schemes . Of the big companies only a handful including WH Smith kept theirs intact for new employees and most only offer the less favourable money purchase schemes. Sad to say nothing was done about it . Today if you wonder about the use of Agency staff in the NHS then this is because the Tories plan to privatise it and none of their friends would take it on with such a big pensions bill. We have been conned Some of us saw this coming but alas Thatcherism won

MrsRobert · 21/09/2018 15:28

Biggest bill payments are the mortgage and childcare so that won't be a problem when I'm 68!

spinabifidamom · 21/09/2018 23:39

Filled out the survey.

SodTheBloodyLotOfThem · 22/09/2018 09:39

How can anyone be confident about their financial future given the epic economic shitstorm that is about to hit the UK?

Shuggas · 22/09/2018 10:07

All done Smile

Done. It’s worrying how little I think about it Blush

QuestionableMouse · 23/09/2018 16:44

Done. :)

molliemoozle · 23/09/2018 21:20

Done Scared for what the future holds - hubby and I both in local government; scheme was changed a few years back! Pensions are not as golden as people seem to make out!

DarkDarkNight · 23/09/2018 23:35

Done. Low income job, single parent. I am doomed anyway.

TaurielTest · 25/09/2018 11:27

Done. Questions rather skewed towards those with partners!

Kahlua4me · 25/09/2018 21:26

Done. Some questions were tricky to answer as didn’t seem to cover those running their own business.

We had a couple of lean years when the business was starting up but now we have started ploughing it back in.

AssignedNorthernAtBirth · 26/09/2018 14:19

Surely better advice would be whether it's instead useful to concentrate on getting a mortgage first before worrying about a pension?

100% agree. This was something I felt was very hard to understand in my 20s. I chose mortgage, and continue to do so in that we make overpayments, but don't know if it's correct to prioritise the roof over your head above everything else.

serbska · 26/09/2018 20:41

None of us (unless v close to retirement age) can be confident in age of retirement or amount of state pension!

I do not expect there to be any state pension by the time I’m eligible.

LordOfTheFleas · 27/09/2018 15:13

Done. We have no pensions so are screwed. Sad

Done

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 30/09/2018 16:39

Done, but a bit surprised that the expenditure question didn't include university costs for children, just school fees - more parents are likely to be stumping up for university living costs than paying school fees.

KittyKat88 · 30/09/2018 23:37

Cheers! Although now it's made me worried I haven't done nearly enough to prepare for my retirement Shock
