We'd like to find out more about marketing to the over 50s - and in particular, how you feel about and engage with advertising. We want to hear your concerns (if any) and any solutions around these, so we can take your concerns to the marketing community and call for improvements.

This survey is open to all UK Gransnet and Mumsnet users aged 50 or over.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize to win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Click here to take the survey.

Thanks and good luck!

The questions are too boring! I need excitement at my age. Also, when you are older and wiser you are not taken in by glib advertising any more so it's a waste of time. What we definitely don't need is slow, enunciated, whispered wank like Injury.......Lawyers......For.......Yoooou

I had this exact thought. (But didn’t think anyone would take any notice ...)

I don’t feel ignored by advertisers. I think they imagine we all want to slide towards infirmity in smug soft focus though.

Feck off with your frilly incontinence knickers and your sterile cruises (Rob Brydon is no longer on my Christmas card list), advertisers. (Nothing against incontinence aids, but why the feck would we be showing our knickers?)

Oh, and I didn’t complete the survey because the questions didn’t allow for our own answers... probably because we’re all too busy doing sudoku, or gluing in our false teeth to form our own opinions Hmm.

Agree it's very loaded....but have entered anyway after all a £100 voucher can get me a lot of old lady stuff Grin

Grumpy lot. Not the best survey ever, not the worst by a long chalk. Done it. It might help open minds/eyes, who knows?

Hmmm, so if I win, how many incontinence knickers does £100 buy… Wink

I clicked on this and started filling it in but it was SO annoying I gave up. I don’t feel remotely “ignored” by advertisers. I ignore advertising as much as humanly possible!

Instagram is my friend - there are lots of fabulous influencers I follow.

God, I thought it was just me! I couldn't be arsed to complete this. I don't have any of the tick box feelings when it comes to feeling ignored / under-represented. I think if advertisers want to ignore the 50-60 generation who, quite frankly, are the only people with real disposable income these days, then that's their lookout.

Talk about damning with faint praise Grin

I wish the adverts that pollute MN would bloody well ignore me. The buggers are flashing away, popping up and dropping down as I type.

QueenoftheNights · 05/09/2018 13:06

so are you lumping together the users over 50 with users over 80 or even 90?

Don't forget that the people running some of the biggest countries in the world are over 50 and indeed over 70.

Would you ask T May, Trump and Putin if they felt ignored? And we haven't even touched on China and South Korea.
