We'd like to find out more about marketing to the over 50s - and in particular, how you feel about and engage with advertising. We want to hear your concerns (if any) and any solutions around these, so we can take your concerns to the marketing community and call for improvements.

This survey is open to all UK Gransnet and Mumsnet users aged 50 or over.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize to win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Click here to take the survey.

Thanks and good luck!

Haven’t clicked yet.

Promise it won’t make me Angry.

DelphiniumBlue · 30/08/2018 19:58

Doesn't work properly.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/08/2018 21:33

Shit link, kept sticking and then all of my answers disappeared and it shot back to the start. Clearly must be my age and my inability to deal with technology. Also, it is much too long.

Giraffey1 · 30/08/2018 21:52

Errors in survey! One, you make your own assumptions that everyone who completes it has children,. And one question asks you how many children in house but doesn’t give an option for ‘no children’. The only way to proceed is to answer with a lie.

Munchmallow · 30/08/2018 22:12

I completed the survey but it's now frozen and won't go any further...

WeaselsRising · 31/08/2018 14:13

Pressed Submit and nothing happened. Second time it sent.

Two questions, (1) why do you put (At Present) after where do you live?
(2) should Name be your real name or your MN one? It used to always say mumsnet username, but now it doesn't.

BIWI · 31/08/2018 20:27

FFS. Who writes these questionnaires? You must have market researchers at MNHQ who would understand how leading and biased these questions are. Shame on you if you don't.

(And I say that as a market researcher)

HirplesWithHaggis · 31/08/2018 20:31

Ah, I'll hang fire trying to do it, then.

LaLaLamp · 01/09/2018 07:47

I gave up on this...didn't work for me either!

MaryandMichael · 01/09/2018 08:21

took two attempts to submit
Not a nice questionnaire. Very loaded!

sashh · 01/09/2018 08:43

Terrible questionaire.

SO you can now put you don't have children, but then you hVE TO GIVE THEIR AGES.

Sorry about caps.

What about an option for not buying full stop?

Also as someone with a disability I am not always able to book things like theatre online.

Gruach · 01/09/2018 09:25

Dear MNHQ, the advert at the foot of this page urges me to join Mumsnet Insight and take part in exclusive research. But it’s so exclusive that when I click the link I get “403 Forbidden”.

Is it a secret club? Am I just not something enough? After all these years ... Grin

LittleBookofCalm · 01/09/2018 09:53

I can't decide how to answer some questions.

Crunched · 01/09/2018 23:18

Me too Gruach

BillywilliamV · 02/09/2018 07:35

Started the survey then realised I really don't have anopinion on any of this stuff.

borntobequiet · 02/09/2018 10:15

That’s a truly dreadful survey. It misrepresents my intelligence.

tararabumdeay · 02/09/2018 22:25

Survey written in doublespeak. Gave up.

DameJulie · 02/09/2018 22:27

Oh FFS not this again! Why do MNHQ insist on lumping all over 50s together. I'm mid-50s with a 14 year old DD . I need to work until I'm late 60s and fortunately I want to. I'm sure my needs, wants and concerns are more similar to women in their 30s/40s than 70 and 80 year olds.

It's like MNHQ think you enter another world when you stop being 49 and should piss off to Gransnet

chemenger · 02/09/2018 22:34

Started it but then realised I just don’t care about this stuff. The whole “over 50” thing is odd. Wat is special about 50? It doesn’t mark any great life change.

JustineBMumsnet · 03/09/2018 12:15

Hi all, apologies that some of you have experienced some technical difficulties completing the survey. It looks like these have ironed out over the weekend, but let us know if you continue to have any problems.

@DameJulie and @chemenger We're aware that advertisers do sometimes lump all over 50s together in a way that wouldn't happen to those under 50, and it's because of this that we're running this survey, as in doing this those in their 50s and 60s are often ignored by advertisers.

chemenger · 03/09/2018 16:00

The questions make it clear that this is what you think! Most of them seem quite biased.

DameJulie · 03/09/2018 16:08

I don't feel at all ignored by advertisers. You've got this wrong, MNHQ, so just pull the crappy survey.

Giraffey1 · 03/09/2018 18:26

Still think this is a poor survey, badly worded and weighted.

OneMoreForExtra · 03/09/2018 20:08

Completed. But as I don't feel overlooked or discriminated against by not being the focus of advertising, shake out magazines over the bin before reading, record tv to fast-forward through the ads, and generally ignore it all as much as posdible, I'm not sure how useful it will be! 50 (and happy about it) with a 7 and a 2 year old so totally out of synch with women of my age AND women of my kids parents ages. Age is just a number (mainly the number of coffees I've had)

BIWI · 03/09/2018 20:30

@JustineBMumsnet

So you're running a survey to confirm what you already believe to one true?

This is a shocking admission from someone who is supposed to be an insight professional!
