We are looking for Mumsnetters in the UK with at least one child aged 2-12 to read with their children and be part of Egmont’s Reading Club.

If you have more than one child you’d like to take part, please sign up individually for them by completing the survey more than once, using the same personal details for yourself. You will need to complete individual feedback for each child as a part of the reading club.

Egmont will be sending you and your child at least 2 books weekly and occasionally magazines for a period of 6 weeks, asking you to read together and share your experiences. You’d also get a copy of Help Your Child Love Reading by Alison David.

Here’s what Egmont has to say: “Coronavirus has turned the world upside down and we are all dealing with a new ‘normal’ – the children are home from school and we have to find ways to keep them occupied, happy and to keep the learning going. There is one simple thing that can help in so many ways, and that’s reading aloud to them. We’d like you to read to your child every day, more than once a day if you’d like! That’s why we are starting the Egmont Reading Club on Mumsnet.

We at Egmont know the enormous benefits of reading aloud to children including supporting their learning and a better sense of wellbeing. It's deeply comforting to be read to and in these times of uncertainty we're keen to help families enjoy special time together.”

Selected testers will be asked to complete the following tasks:

1. Indicate which books (from a list) that you’d like to receive each week for 6 weeks
2. Read with your children daily or more often.
3. Fill in a reading diary (which we will be sending to you weekly).
4. Leave your feedback for each week of reading throughout the 6 weeks on a public thread on Mumsnet.

All selected participants in Egmont’s Reading Club who leave the required feedback on the public feedback thread and in all 6 weekly diaries will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Oh, I see others have got magazines too, that’s disappointing, I didn’t realize they were a substitution for books, there was no indication of this, I’ll give my feedback accordingly

I've had an email this evening from DPD to say I've got a delivery coming tomorrow :)

@needtoseperate I don't think the magazines are a substitution for the books, we've had both.

We didn’t get any books last week but did get a comic. Had an email to say we have books arriving today so if the comic wasn’t in place of the books we are missing a week!

munchbunch12 I see, thanks. well funnily enough I’ve finally had an email from McMillian about a delivery which will be good.

I hope all are finding parcels on doorstep etc - we’ve had another one this morning! The printed receipt inside says Week 5 (and yesterday’s said Week 4) so if anyone gets one today I’d suggest checking that to see if you are missing the one from last (bank holiday) week.

We didn't get our Email regarding delivery last night as usual.
And our delivery Tuesday (week 4) had 1 book for my Son, invoice showed 2 but said one was being reprinted? Emailed Lucy regarding this but no reply yet!

We've had another Paw patrol magazine this week too!

we got a parcel of 4 books which I’ll spread out to prolong excitement. I didn’t see any receipt so I better look

We got a magazine in week 2, I assumed instead of books because I was late with choices. Haven't had the end of week survey yet, or diary links for this week.

I'm very confused now. I didnt get my books last week until Tuesday (just gone) but had to put my request in by the Monday before the Tuesday without knowing what we were getting. (if that makes sense)

Well put in the request for both kids and got books for D but nothing for H.

Have also had 1 parcel with a mag each for them in and then another parcel with a single mag in for H (who didnt get the books in this lot)

I've also not had my end of week survey through or the new links for yesterday/today.

I'm quite confused to be honest. Everything seems to have gone a bit messed up

@pinkspideruk - we were the same, getting books on Tues so had to guess at what to put down as requests on Monday. Then this Friday I didn't get a new survey email and in the post I only got the week 5 books for ds and nothing for dd. She got a Disney princess comic separately, so she was really happy with that, but it does all feel very disjointed.

To be fair though it must be a huge nightmare to organise looking through people's requests and ordering different books for them... And of course we're lucky to get anything. I'm curious as to how they choose 2 from the 5 we put down. 🤔 ☺

@leeloo1 we also had the princess mag - to be fair they have sent us some amazing books and Im deffo not complaining im just confused haha

Also I much prefer to do the feedback each day rather than a few days at the time as doing 2 of them it can get confusing - I've just put notes on a notepad for now

Yh it seems the bank holiday messed things up. We got last week's books this week and the survery they sent on Sunday went a bit weird so not sure if they even got it as we haven't had another one.
We've got really nice books and before the bank holiday we were getting them like clockwork so no complaints.

Has anyone had:

• this current week’s diary links

Up to date with books but no emails, want to know if I just have to wait or if I’m personally missing something.

@Osquito no, haven'thad either of them yet, but have had 5 sets of books and some magazines. Really nice ones too, so no complaints here either, it's just like PP said, it's all a bit disjointed. I suppose it's difficult to organise anyway, and when you add Covid-19 and Bank Holidays into the mix it makes it even more so.

@munchbunch12 Thanks, I’ll just wait then - yes, I can imagine trying to sort out parcels of different books for each child is quite a headache, let alone during these days!

Yes we had Week 4 Books on Tuesday. (Put requests through Monday for new books as requested)
But haven't had What would be this weeks, week 5 books yet.
DS had a paw patrol magazine earlier in the week though.
I'm wondering if the Book we are waiting on being Reprinted is going to be sent with the week 5 books?

But I agree all the books we've had so far have been great!

We received 4 books in the last parcel so that takes care of week 4 and 5 but no email for diary entries or choices for this week. We have loved getting the books and established a really nice routine which I hope to keep up!

Hi all, no new email with end of week survey and links for this week for me. So unable to put book choices in for this week. Also only had books for one of my children last week. Second child hasn't received their books yet.

I've had the email with the week 4 end of week questionnaire, week 5 diary links and week 6 book choices. for DC1 I was able to enter the book choices fine, but for DC2 the screen wouldn't save and move on after I'd put the choices in. Has anyone else had this?

Ooh just recieved my DS 2 books for week 5, DD was disappointed as nothing for her yet!
Still wondering if we'll get the book from week 4 that said it was being reprinted?

Noooooo! I got the email yesterday and spent ages filling in all the surveys for Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon and the end of week survey.... Then I ended up having 'one of those days' (with a load of stress about whether to send the kids back to school and getting them through their school work etc) and it was only when I logged on this evening to do today's survey that I realised I never did the book choices for this week! I've just done them now, so hopefully it's not too late. 😢

I haven't heard anything about dd's books from last week either. Has everyone else got theirs now?

In other news we're all enjoying reading The Land of Roar together, which ds got last week, so I'd definitely recommend that one. 😁
