We are looking for Mumsnetters in the UK with at least one child aged 2-12 to read with their children and be part of Egmont’s Reading Club.

If you have more than one child you’d like to take part, please sign up individually for them by completing the survey more than once, using the same personal details for yourself. You will need to complete individual feedback for each child as a part of the reading club.

Egmont will be sending you and your child at least 2 books weekly and occasionally magazines for a period of 6 weeks, asking you to read together and share your experiences. You’d also get a copy of Help Your Child Love Reading by Alison David.

Here’s what Egmont has to say: “Coronavirus has turned the world upside down and we are all dealing with a new ‘normal’ – the children are home from school and we have to find ways to keep them occupied, happy and to keep the learning going. There is one simple thing that can help in so many ways, and that’s reading aloud to them. We’d like you to read to your child every day, more than once a day if you’d like! That’s why we are starting the Egmont Reading Club on Mumsnet.

We at Egmont know the enormous benefits of reading aloud to children including supporting their learning and a better sense of wellbeing. It's deeply comforting to be read to and in these times of uncertainty we're keen to help families enjoy special time together.”

Selected testers will be asked to complete the following tasks:

  1. Indicate which books (from a list) that you’d like to receive each week for 6 weeks
  2. Read with your children daily or more often.
  3. Fill in a reading diary (which we will be sending to you weekly).
  4. Leave your feedback for each week of reading throughout the 6 weeks on a public thread on Mumsnet.

All selected participants in Egmont’s Reading Club who leave the required feedback on the public feedback thread and in all 6 weekly diaries will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

If you’re interested in taking part, click here to sign up.

Thanks and good luck!

Also having issues doing the last week of surveys, I usually save up for a few days then enter them. Just been on now and all say have been completed. Will save notes until it's resolved

JustineBMumsnet · 29/05/2020 11:44

Hi all - we know some of you are having trouble with your last week of surveys because the links are saying they're already completed. We're not quite sure why this is, but we're looking into it and will be in touch to let you know as soon as we have a solution for you (likely this afternoon). If you could keep a note of your diary entries elsewhere in the meantime that would be much appreciated!

Our last set of books arrived today but one was a duplicate of last week's which made DS4 cry. We had to fill in the week 6 book request before the week 5 books had arrived so didn't realise this book was on both lists.

Still having an issue submitting a response, all say completed. anyone else still having this issue ?

pinkspideruk · 06/06/2020 16:22

Hello - I havent had the last survey yet been a week now - have others had it?

leeloo1 · 07/06/2020 09:19

@pinkspideruk - no I haven't had anything either. The last email I had was the one where the links said I'd already completed the surveys.

It's odd, as it must have been really quite a costly exercise to run, but it's all just fizzled out.

leeloo1 · 07/06/2020 09:20

@SherbertDip - I assumed we'd be sent new links and a final survey, but I haven't received anything. Ah well, I hope that what we did contribute it was useful for Egmont?!

StickChildNumberTwo · 07/06/2020 12:02

I'm reassured that no-one else has had the last bits either. We've thoroughly enjoyed being part of it, I hope it's been useful.

MsMarple · 09/06/2020 00:15

I really hope they share the results with us! It's been a great thing to get involved with.

MrsFrTedCrilly · 11/06/2020 17:34

@JustineBMumsnet are we going to get any final survey links?

Maisiesaves · 11/06/2020 18:13

Just popped on to see what the situation is as I realised I haven't had final links through yet and I see others haven't so phew!!

Sportsnight · 14/06/2020 14:46

No final survey here either. Perhaps there wasn’t one? We really enjoyed the experience, so thanks for letting us take part.
