We are looking for Mumsnetters in the UK with at least one child aged 2-12 to read with their children and be part of Egmont’s Reading Club.

If you have more than one child you’d like to take part, please sign up individually for them by completing the survey more than once, using the same personal details for yourself. You will need to complete individual feedback for each child as a part of the reading club.

Egmont will be sending you and your child at least 2 books weekly and occasionally magazines for a period of 6 weeks, asking you to read together and share your experiences. You’d also get a copy of Help Your Child Love Reading by Alison David.

Here’s what Egmont has to say: “Coronavirus has turned the world upside down and we are all dealing with a new ‘normal’ – the children are home from school and we have to find ways to keep them occupied, happy and to keep the learning going. There is one simple thing that can help in so many ways, and that’s reading aloud to them. We’d like you to read to your child every day, more than once a day if you’d like! That’s why we are starting the Egmont Reading Club on Mumsnet.

We at Egmont know the enormous benefits of reading aloud to children including supporting their learning and a better sense of wellbeing. It's deeply comforting to be read to and in these times of uncertainty we're keen to help families enjoy special time together.”

Selected testers will be asked to complete the following tasks:

  1. Indicate which books (from a list) that you’d like to receive each week for 6 weeks
  2. Read with your children daily or more often.
  3. Fill in a reading diary (which we will be sending to you weekly).
  4. Leave your feedback for each week of reading throughout the 6 weeks on a public thread on Mumsnet.

All selected participants in Egmont’s Reading Club who leave the required feedback on the public feedback thread and in all 6 weekly diaries will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

If you’re interested in taking part, click here to sign up.

Thanks and good luck!

I've also had that email @TheGirlFromStoryville, but don't seem to have any correspondence from MN regarding this product test! Hopefully the package will have further instructions?!

munchbunch12 · 16/04/2020 19:44

@ignatiusjreilly we just received them today, no email notifiction first. They were from Macmillan.

ignatiusjreilly · 16/04/2020 19:46

@munchbunch12 thanks! I’ll keep my fingers crossed then 🤞

munchbunch12 · 16/04/2020 19:59

Good luck to everyone who's waiting! X

TheGirlFromStoryville · 16/04/2020 21:48

Yep thought we would have got an email first. Really looking forward to getting our parcel tomorrow now!

Osquito · 17/04/2020 09:19

Hi, @JustineBMumsnet - received a parcel of 2 books plus a reading help guide today... Didn’t know I’d been selected, maybe an Insight email has gone astray?
DS is thrilled to have new books to read, they’ve given a good mix of picture book and ‘wordier’ novel.

Malmontar · 17/04/2020 10:30

We've got it too! Didn't expect it as no email. Ours is a 'i hate reading with a passion' just turned 12 year old so the additional book for adults will come in handy.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 17/04/2020 11:20

Books have arrived. The children are very happy! The oldest child (9) is now reading to the youngest (3).

Caillou · 17/04/2020 11:23

we have had no books or email, so I guess we were not selected for this one sadly :(
did the books come with royal mail or courier?

speakfriendandenter · 17/04/2020 11:27

Hi, I've received books today but had no email. I've looked at my Mumsnet inbox and my email inbox and nothing. Can someone let me know what I'm meant to do re:reviews. I'm hesitant to share the books before I know what I need to do.
Many thanks

Scoleah · 17/04/2020 11:34

Ours have just arrived, I had no Mumsnet email either just a DPD notification from Macmillan.
11yo Daughter& 3yo very excited!

Sportsnight · 17/04/2020 11:40

Same here. A surprise parcel and a very excited 6 year old with her nose straight into one of the books. I’ll await further instructions!

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 17/04/2020 12:25

We have just had a surprise parcel of books today too! The children are over the moon, hopefully we will hear about how to feedback etc soon

pinkspideruk · 17/04/2020 12:59

Also had a bundle of books arrive today - had an email yesterday from macmillan distribution had no idea what it was about lol.

4 books for H and D (the magic faraway tree collection, the naughty unicorn, the jewelled moth and the clockwork sparrow) and a book for me - help your child read.

No email from MN though and no instructions with the parcel either. I'm guessing we just start them reading them?

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 17/04/2020 13:15

What perfect timing. My 11yr old ds had just read his last library book so I’d just bought him a new book on the kindle.
Thanks so much, sure we’ll love them.
No email for me either. I’m sure we’ll hear from mumsnet soon.

Malmontar · 17/04/2020 13:24

We only got books for 1 child out of 2 I applied for, but we'll be reading them together so it's fine

JustineBMumsnet · 17/04/2020 14:08

Hi all - thanks for posting on the thread! If you've received books you selected as a part of your application for this project then that does likely mean you've been selected. We've sent an email containing instructions for the project but it seems this hasn't arrived with you all.

We'll be re-sending all instructions shortly this afternoon (alongside the link to complete diary entries), so please do keep an eye out for an email (including checking your spam folder). The email will come from [email protected].

Did the people who received the books receive an email letting them know? (I haven't received an email)

Arriaga · 17/04/2020 16:38

(pls ignore my email, can see the thread now, it did not load before weirdly)

Freshstart40 · 17/04/2020 17:24

Hi Justine, really happy to have been selected. Thank you

Both my children are signed up, however, using the links in the email, my iPad isn't saving the entry for my second child.

Any advice? I've typed it in twice and lost the info both times.

Thanks so much

MrsAlwaysRight · 17/04/2020 21:04

My email disappeared as I clicked on the links. Would it be possible to resend please? Thanks

Teabaseddiet · 18/04/2020 00:03

We've not received any books so looks like we've missed out Sad - unless the post is delayed around here!

munchbunch12 · 18/04/2020 12:14

@Freshstart40 I've had the same thing with my second DC, it only seems to have saved the info from my first DC!! Very frustrating when it took me and DC2 aaes to pick the next books and the choices have all disappeared along with the reading diary entry. @JustineBMumsnet do you know what's happening here? Thanks

munchbunch12 · 18/04/2020 12:17

*ages

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 19/04/2020 08:47

@JustineBMumsnet I’ve just found the same as @Freshstart40 and @munchbunch12 the second link hasn’t saved my child’s details or her book choices
