Recruitment has now closed

Beyond are looking for MNers with at least one child to test their online will writing service.

Testers must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently live in England or Wales
  • Do not own property abroad
  • Do not have a will at present

Here’s what Beyond have to say:
“Without a will, the state determines what happens with your kids and assets, whether you’re married or not. So, a will is vital for parents, and Beyond make it simple and affordable to get it sorted online. In 15 minutes, you can protect your family with a legally-binding will - without ever having to leave the house. It’s perfect for busy mums and dads. Trusted by 1,000s of UK parents, Beyond’s easily updateable online will service lets you protect your family, choose guardians for children and pets and leave personal messages for your loved ones.”

Selected testers will be sent a link through which they can create a legally-binding will for themselves (worth £90) or a couple's will for themselves and their partner (worth £135).

Testers will be required to leave their feedback on a thread on Mumsnet as well as complete a short survey. All testers who leave the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where 3 MNers will win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

If you would like to sign up, please click here.

Thanks and good luck!

Definitely something on our to-do list. It just hasn't happened yet. Sounds a great idea!

babyboo1and2 · 15/08/2019 08:05

This is something we keep putting off too.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 15/08/2019 23:00

Fab, signed up.

NeverTwerkNaked · 16/08/2019 00:00

I accidentally clicked 'no' to passing my details on when I meant to click yes 😳 I would love to be picked and am happy for my details to be passed on 😊

Yodasdog · 16/08/2019 00:07

One of those things I’ve never gotten around to...would love to try this.

Smiler88 · 16/08/2019 08:59

I'd be keen to this, one 17 month old and one on the way! Property owner but no will at present. Had a real "we need to make a will" moment after a near miss potential car accident. So its definitley on our to do list!

ValiaH · 16/08/2019 23:26

I would love to do this- I keep meaning to 'get a round to it' but never actually getting that far!

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 16/08/2019 23:34

Another one who needs to be a grown up and get it done 🙊

SoozC · 18/08/2019 11:35

Now we have a child, we really need to get this done. My husband's previous partner died and sorting the estate was really hard as no will. So we definitely want to get it done.

torthecatlady · 19/08/2019 00:32

We definitely need to sort out wills! This is the sort of thing that people don't like to think of and often put off (like we have done),

Chuffingchuff · 20/08/2019 13:36

Signed up! Fingers crossed.

Angelfaced · 22/08/2019 09:56

I would love to be chosen to test this, my dad passed away recently and its made me realise just how important having a will is, especially having children.

northernknickers · 23/08/2019 08:22

Done!

chezybabes89 · 24/08/2019 12:07

done :-)

Barchester · 24/08/2019 19:27

Do NOT under any circumstances use a will writing company to make a will. I am a long-qualified solicitor who specialises in Probate and I can honestly say that I have never seen a will made by a will writing company that did not have a problem. These people are not legally qualified and you may as well use your local plumber to make a will for you.

Unfortunately the errors in your will will not come to light until after your death, at which point it will be too late for you to change the will.

Very many solicitors offer a will preparation service at a very low cost to benefit charities in November in what is called "Will Aid" week. I strongly advise people to wait until then and to have your will made properly by a local solicitor who is participating in Will Aid.

torthecatlady · 24/08/2019 21:31

@Barchester what sort of problems come up with will writing services? Dh and I need to sort out our wills and have set ourselves a goal to have it all sorted out by the end of the year.

Also, have you got any useful tips on things we should be considering when writing a will? If we're not selected for this product test, we'll be using our regular solicitor. Smile

kungfupidge · 27/08/2019 15:00

sounds fantastic x

torthecatlady · 30/08/2019 13:57

Selected for this Smile now I need to do a bit of research and work out exactly what to do!

Rockbird · 30/08/2019 14:52

Selected too. Thank you! Looking at it now.

cwitchard · 30/08/2019 14:54

Been selected! Thank you. Now I have no idea what to do 😂🙈 Little bit daunting!!

AngryBudgie · 30/08/2019 14:56

Me too! Finally the kick up the bum I needed to get a will written! Grin

northernknickers · 30/08/2019 14:58

Selected and done...took around 15 minutes. Mine was incredibly simple with nothing 'tricky' at all though. I suspect it might take longer if you have trickier things to navigate. Very simple process though, and the Will that has been sent to me looks fine (daughter a paralegal, says it's fine).

cwitchard · 30/08/2019 15:21

@northernknickers Did you do a single or joint one? x

kungfupidge · 30/08/2019 15:44

selected and completed very quick and easy and sounds very professional. i did a single one not joint xx

northernknickers · 30/08/2019 15:50

Single, with everything just split equally between my children. Nothing complicated.
