Pink Parcel and bettybox have asked us to find Mumsnetters to test their monthly subscription boxes with their daughters. To take part, you’ll need to be a Mumsnetter who uses femcare products and/or have a daughter using femcare products.

Some information from Pink Parcel and bettybox below:

Pink Parcel: “Pink Parcel is the UK’s No1 period subscription box that unites periods and pampering to make your time of the month fuss-free and fabulous. Delivered to your door monthly on a day of your choosing each box contains over £40 of femcare and beauty products including a luxe curation of cult beauty brands, herbal teas and artisan chocolates. You can select your choice of tampons, pads or a mix of both from all your trusted femcare brands. This super convenient box ensures you’ll never run out of femcare products again.”

bettybox: “bettybox is the perfect pick me up for girls. As well as all their trusted femcare products, they can expect sweet treats, make-up, stationery and more all from brands specially selected for teens. Choose from all your favourite femcare brands and receive your monthly box with treats worth up to £30 delivered for free directly to your door. You’ll never have to worry about running out of pads again!”

If selected to take part, you’ll need to give your feedback on a thread on Mumsnet as well as completing a short survey. All who complete the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Are we supposed to do the reviews on here? And in any particular format?

☕️

BlooBagoo · 07/03/2018 15:29

Bold fail. Sorry!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/03/2018 15:37

Lol Bloo😂. I'm not sure what we are supposed to do.

inashizzle · 07/03/2018 15:52

Hi Rosedog Your dd can share my dd's name. It's actually IrishGrin

We have one just arrived 3.30pm (Royal Mail gone to the dogs) , addressed to E.T. The box does sound damaged despite the label saying treat with care. Will update later .

PutYourBracesTogether · 07/03/2018 16:00

DDs box arrived today.
Wrong name (ER) and box wouldn't fit through the letterbox.
She liked it well enough.
No serum but has a Carmex lip balm she likes.
No lip plumper in mine.

BlooBagoo · 07/03/2018 16:15

DD just opened hers and is impressed. She got the pads she chose and looks like a decent amount of them. She's actually on her period at the moment so looks like the chocolate was much appreciated. Grin

She's stolen my teabag and given me the chai latte, which I can't have so her sister has claimed it instead. Hmm

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 07/03/2018 16:22

DD liked her box.
It wasn't damaged but wouldn't fit through our letterbox.
No serum but she liked the other things in the box.

ASDismynormality · 07/03/2018 16:25

Mine arrived today no for through the letter box. Nice range of products.

The lip plumper really stung so SD is taking it to school so her friends can try it out!

ASDismynormality · 07/03/2018 17:05

Meant to say it fit through the letter box and DD not SD Hmm

FuckyDucky · 07/03/2018 19:38

Got some really nice items in the boxes but by Jove that lip plumper stings like buggary.

Whitelisbon · 07/03/2018 20:04

Neither of our boxes have arrived yet either. Glad to see I'm not the only one though.

Ilikesweetpeas · 07/03/2018 20:17

Our boxes arrived today, they didn’t fit through the letterbox but my lovely neighbour took them in. Mine was correctly addressed and in good condition, DD’s had the wrong name and was very battered with the box being ripped. The initials on hers were CG. Waiting for DD to get home before we open them so not looked at contents. As others have said not impressed at my daughters name being elsewhere and me having someone else’s daughters (unusual) name on hers. Not good data protection!

BlueMosaic · 07/03/2018 20:35

@JustineBMumsnet Hiya. Is this the right thread to leave feedback on? If not, I will have to copy and paste... I have name-changed - hope this is the one I signed up under. Anyway, here goes:

I received a Pink Parcel and my Daughter (15) a BettyBox. I liked the classic look of my box; daughter hated the 'jazzy' look of her box "I'm not 6!" was her comment on it.

In terms of contents, both DD and I like the quality and quantity of sanitary products. Both liked the drawstring carry bags, though I was not keen on the girly pastel pink of my bag and preferred the bright turquoise bag DD had.

Disappointingly, neither of us had chocolate. I enjoyed the coconut bite things, but they were tiny and while tasty, were a little disappointing in terms of quantity. The sole tea bag looked a little sad and lonely. The lipstick colour was not to my taste, though the lip plumper was great. I preferred these bits to the Monthly Heroes stuff which I don’t feel I am likely to use.

DD was very happy with her treats. She especially like the teen-specific moisturiser, carmex and the drink sachet. She wasn’t so keen on the eyeshadow, but that was just her personal taste. I thought the mini book was sweet, DD was a bit “Meh” about it but said she would read it later. The different-sized Betty pads were interesting. DD is going to try them all on for size. The serum and truffles weren’t in the box so can’t comment on those.

What I would have loved is some hand cream and lip-balm as treats. Maybe a nail colour? Plus proper chocolate. Overall, I liked my box, but not enough to subscribe I think. I think customising the contents like you can with Graze boxes would help.

DD was keen on her box. I would consider subscribing for her as a young teen I think, depending on cost. At 15 I think she was less impressed than she would have been at 12.

Thanks Mumsnet!

peanutbear · 07/03/2018 20:45

I have received my box today but my daughter is yet to receive hers, I thought it was quite good lots of sanitary protection for different times of your period, Little treats and trials of skin care, I would have preferred a small of a more decadent snack to be honest,

I thought the packaging was ok but there was far to much of it, its all separated up into little boxes inside a larger box which I think is a waste of resources.

I might not subscribe for myself but if my daughters is as good I would for her. so Ill wait with baited breath

inashizzle · 07/03/2018 21:37

I've left feedback for Pink Parcel earlier on this thread. It might be better for mumsnet to have a separate , clean feedback thread for after everyone receives their relevant boxes.

Dd aged 11 received a Betty Box today. Overall I would say that the contents are worth the same value as the subscription price, not more, but Pink Parcel seemed a bit more luxurious and of higher value .

She liked the chocolates, and I liked the uniqueness and quality ;
Not bothered about the bag ;
Said I could have the eyeshadow, as it was too small and boring and I'd have to agree, it was like one of those cheapo free sample on a cheap mag, so I'll pretend it was generous of her to donate it to me;
She really enjoyed the chai latte;
Went off with new nip n fab moisturiser happily. I've recently noticed these selling at around £8-10, so this would in itself nearly pay for the box ;
Didn't receive serum like others; I guess this would make up justified subscription price .

Boxes could definitely be designed more glam, colourful, contemporary and sturdier to use as decorative storage.Think classic present boxes that are everywhere now.
A few more tweeks really needed for Betty Box to maintain subscribers. I know of so many younger teens that now have high quality , higher end beauty products than adults (whether we like it or in most cases not) so they're going to be harder to please. I have the 19 yr old dd and 11 yr old dd if you would like to use if you'd like to tear them away from my mirrors/instagramGrin

androbbob · 07/03/2018 21:51

@putyourbracestogether sounds like you got my DD's box - surname is well known squash brand!

DramaInPyjamas · 07/03/2018 22:05

From previous product tests I've taken part in MN will email a week or so after the trial with a link to a separate feedback thread, which has some questions to answer.

I guess because of the name fiasco / missing boxes it could be a few more weeks though.

feetlikeahobbit · 07/03/2018 22:36

ok so DDs box arrived but with my name on it. She was pleased, the serum was missing so contacted them and they're sending a replacement, really quick to reply which I was impressed with.

I subscribe to various boxes, DD gets to have a few bits from mine. This was an age appropriate for her so might consider subscribing if I can get a deal or discount code. Just waiting for mine now :)

starlingsintheslipstream · 07/03/2018 22:51

I'll put my review here too, while it's fresh in my mind.

I got the Pink Parcel and dd(15) has received her Betty Box. Both too big for our letterbox which isn't a huge problem for me. However the claim that they fit 94% of letterboxes does look a bit silly if everyone's experience on this thread is anything to go by.

I thought the Pink Parcel packaging was nice and classy and the layout of the boxes inside was cute. I like that's it's cardboard and easily recyclable. It arrived just at the right time. The mix of normal and night time pads worked well for me but I wouldn't use the pantyliners. The pads are nicer quality than I'm used to - I normally get supermarket own brand but these were much softer. I've given dd the bag as she was very taken with hers.

I liked the interesting mix of extras but wouldn't use everything so I've shared with dd. I'm not a great make up user so dd has had the lipstick. I found the lip plumper very off-putting, like rubbing a chilli on your lips, so she'll experiment with that too. The facial oil is lovely and I'll use the plumping mist. The other stuff was basically samples (coconut treats, facial scrub, teabag) but all good fun.

On the whole, I was pleasantly surprised. Although there was stuff I wouldn't use, dd was happy to have my rejects so it felt like it would have been value for money at £12.99 though I wasn't sure whether or not postage was included every time or just as an introductory offer.

Dds Bettybox was a little battered and had the whole wrong name debacle. I can't really get worked up about that, to be honest but I appreciate others feel differently.

Her take on the box was the same as BlueMosaic's dd (both 15) - she thought the packaging was a little kiddy-like, was bemused by the book and disappointed at the absence of the serum. She was delighted with the drawstring bag and got the pads she ordered but hasn't used them yet. The chocolate didn't last long and she was happy with her beauty/cosmetic items. All-in-all she thought it a fab treat.

So, would I subscribe? Not at present but I was more impressed than I thought I would be. If it came up in conversation, I would speak well of it. I could imagine subscribing to the Pink Parcel and sharing the contents with dd. I don't think I could justify the cost of a box for dd alone, on a regular basis, and she would probably rather have the money!

The marketing gave me pause for thought but that's been well covered upthread and I hope the makers have taken some of it on board. I definitely see it as an alternative to a beauty box, with some sanitary protection thrown in, rather than some sort of celebration/commiseration of periods. Also, with lots of media coverage of "period poverty", I wonder if a nod to this might be appropriate - tampons/pads donated for every box sold?

Thanks from both of us for the opportunity to test them.

RubyLennoxExists · 08/03/2018 07:38

We have one just arrived 3.30pm (Royal Mail gone to the dogs) , addressed to E.T.
ET is on MN - and menstruates -wow Grin

PutYourBracesTogether · 08/03/2018 08:08

@androbbob

Not a squash surname.
My DDs initials haven't come up yet so who knows where they ended up!

Supergluerules · 08/03/2018 09:40

We received our 2 boxes yesterday, the BettyBox had someone else's name on & was a little bashed, the PinkParcel wasn't damaged at all.

DD is vegan, so liked the chai latte sachet, she'll swap the honey face mask with me probably. I liked the texture of the JellyPongPong, but the colour is quite strong for me. The quality of the products is really good, sometimes there are random 'freebies' and it's never clear if they are worth paying for. We got the same selection of towels & tampons which seems a bit strange, esp as we chose differently.

Had a great discussion with DS 18 & 14 who wanted to know if there is a male version (is there?). Awaiting an email from MN to supply feedback.

DoesanyoneplaytheXylophone · 08/03/2018 09:49

Superglue - do your sons want a male version? Do they feel the need for some pampering? Genuine question.

OutsideContextProblem · 08/03/2018 09:54

We also had a Pink Parcel that arrived in mint condition and a Betty Box which had been bashed about a bit with the eyeshadow broken up - even though the postie didn’t attempt to put it through the door. There was obviously a big pile of Betty Boxes in the warehouse which got squished before they were sent out.

www.esquire.com/style/advice/g2912/best-subscription-boxes-for-men/

You can get subscription boxes for everyone. There seems to be a lot of shaving ones for men.
