I'll put my review here too, while it's fresh in my mind.
I got the Pink Parcel and dd(15) has received her Betty Box. Both too big for our letterbox which isn't a huge problem for me. However the claim that they fit 94% of letterboxes does look a bit silly if everyone's experience on this thread is anything to go by.
I thought the Pink Parcel packaging was nice and classy and the layout of the boxes inside was cute. I like that's it's cardboard and easily recyclable. It arrived just at the right time. The mix of normal and night time pads worked well for me but I wouldn't use the pantyliners. The pads are nicer quality than I'm used to - I normally get supermarket own brand but these were much softer. I've given dd the bag as she was very taken with hers.
I liked the interesting mix of extras but wouldn't use everything so I've shared with dd. I'm not a great make up user so dd has had the lipstick. I found the lip plumper very off-putting, like rubbing a chilli on your lips, so she'll experiment with that too. The facial oil is lovely and I'll use the plumping mist. The other stuff was basically samples (coconut treats, facial scrub, teabag) but all good fun.
On the whole, I was pleasantly surprised. Although there was stuff I wouldn't use, dd was happy to have my rejects so it felt like it would have been value for money at £12.99 though I wasn't sure whether or not postage was included every time or just as an introductory offer.
Dds Bettybox was a little battered and had the whole wrong name debacle. I can't really get worked up about that, to be honest but I appreciate others feel differently.
Her take on the box was the same as BlueMosaic's dd (both 15) - she thought the packaging was a little kiddy-like, was bemused by the book and disappointed at the absence of the serum. She was delighted with the drawstring bag and got the pads she ordered but hasn't used them yet. The chocolate didn't last long and she was happy with her beauty/cosmetic items. All-in-all she thought it a fab treat.
So, would I subscribe? Not at present but I was more impressed than I thought I would be. If it came up in conversation, I would speak well of it. I could imagine subscribing to the Pink Parcel and sharing the contents with dd. I don't think I could justify the cost of a box for dd alone, on a regular basis, and she would probably rather have the money!
The marketing gave me pause for thought but that's been well covered upthread and I hope the makers have taken some of it on board. I definitely see it as an alternative to a beauty box, with some sanitary protection thrown in, rather than some sort of celebration/commiseration of periods. Also, with lots of media coverage of "period poverty", I wonder if a nod to this might be appropriate - tampons/pads donated for every box sold?
Thanks from both of us for the opportunity to test them.
