This is the feedback thread for the 500 Mumsnetters who have been testing brand new range of cold-pressed baby food, My First Savsé.

Here’s what Guka, the founder of Savsé has to say: “When we looked at manufactured baby food, we realised babies weren’t getting the nutrients they deserved. Refusing to feed my own child pasteurised product, I wanted to push boundaries and create the freshest baby food possible. After all, real food isn’t just for adults.

This is why we created My First Savsé – Europe’s first cold-pressed, HPP baby food that’s as good as homemade. Unlike heat pasteurised baby food – which experiences a shocking 40% reduction in nutritional value – with My First Savsé the nutritional value of our 100% Organic, Grade A fruit and veg is never* compromised.

*Source: Fruselva Laboratories, July 2017 (tests carried out vs. heat pasteurised competitor x)”

Also from My First Savsé: “By cold-pressing our fruit and veg we don’t strip the goodness, replacing heat pasteurisation in favour of non-thermal High Pressure Processing (HPP) to ensure all vital nutrients are locked into each pouch, removing any nasties without compromising on taste or quality.

A busy parent will have to make a million compromises on a daily basis, but quality nutrition for their baby should never be one of them. However, with 1 in 4 parents unable to prepare homemade baby food due to work pressures, many have been forced to rely on heat pasteurised options bought in-store, with a sell by date often older than the babies themselves! But compromise no more. Our brand new cold-pressed baby food range, My First Savsé, has solved the problem - because babies deserve real food too.

Unlike heat pasteurised baby food, you won’t find My First Savsé in the baby aisle - oh no. You’ll find it in the chiller, alongside all the other fresh products!”

Testers, once the products are finished, please answer the below questions as well as leaving any other feedback you have:

1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
2. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
3. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
4. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
5. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?

We’d also love to see some photos of your little one testing My First Savsé cold-pressed baby food, so please share on the thread if you can.

If you’d like to share your experience on social media, please do using the hashtag #myfirstsavse

All testers who complete the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?

I had no idea there was such a thing as chilled baby food, I have only really known of what's on the shelf in the baby aisle or what you make yourself for you're little one at home, It definitely excites me to think that there is more options for my little one and I will definitely be checking out the chiller cabinets in future.

  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?

My little man isn't a fussy eater (lucky for me) when it comes to food and he very much likes his vegetables and fruit, But the pouches he seemed to prefer was the Cucumber, Kiwi, Kale, Spinach, Apple & Banana and the Coconut, Cacao, Apple & Banana. But he did eat all of them with no quibble.

  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?

I think Savse is fantastic compared to other baby food pouches, They are fresher, with a wider variety of flavours and I feel my baby is getting much more of a varied diet as well as being able to try different tastes.

  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?

Yes I most definitely would purchase Savse if it was readily available, Its an extremely healthy option and my baby loves it, That's more than enough for me to consider it for the future.

  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?

I would most definitely recommend it to friends and family members, Not only is it a healthy option, It is tasty for baby and full of goodness what more could a mother want.

Me and my baby have loved testing these products they have been a real eye opener as to what could be available on the market as far as baby food goes, I would be most interested in purchasing in the future should Savse be readily available on the market.

1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
I didn't know, but personally if I had spotted these I wouldn't assume they were better nutritionally simply because they're chilled. It won't change the way I shop.

2. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
He seemed to like them all.

3. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
I'm with various other reviewers - more savoury recipes please. These are mostly apple and taste very sweet, which isn't ideal for weaning where you want to limit the sweet tastes.
Aside from the cold pressed element, the recipes don't feel that different from the others on the market.

4. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
While I understand that heat pasteurisation can reduce the nutritional value of food, I am skeptical about the actual difference. The blurb mentions 40% of nutrition is lost through pasteurisation but doesn't clearly state how much is lost through pressing. Perhaps it's none, but it isn't clear.
In honesty, this feels like they've found something else to make you feel guilty about, there's almost a suggestion on the website that any 'shelf' pouches are nutritionally poor which isn't necessarily the case.

5. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
Mostly apples, at an eyewatering price and with a side of some manipulative feeling marketing - not for us thanks. If I had a friend who wanted sweet options and for whom money was not an issue then yes, but not on the strength of cold pressing.

1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food?
No, although I have pets and didn't know there was chilled pet food either. I did buy my youngest Little Dish soups from the chilled aisle from 6 months old so I don't think you can say there is no chilled baby food. I agree there are no chilled baby purees.

Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
Yes if my youngest child was a bit younger, I rarely buy pouches now apart from to have the odd emergency one I keep in the car and due to being refrigerated these aren't really useful for that.

2. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
Coconut, cacao, apple and banana. My baby loved this and was bouncing up and down. My five year old got in on the action and loved it too (it's been repurchased since for him to have over some sliced banana for pudding). The one with kiwi in was also well received by both children.

3. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
It's good and I'm impressed. I like the packaging and the range of flavours and I like the fact that it is fresh with a short sell by date, it feels healthier and better than the current puree offering although I don't know if that is substantiated.

4. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
Yes, as above it feels like a better product closer to the natural source of the food with less processing. It is a lot more expensive though so it wouldn't be a regular purchase.

5. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
Yes, I think it has a good range of flavours that are different to the other purees you see and I think buying something refrigerated is better than other purees. I'd still advocate making your own though.

OTHER COMMENTS I've not actually seen this in any supermarkets (I looked in Waitrose and Tescos) but did purchase the Coconut one via Ocado. Would it be with yoghurts (like the first taste Yeo Valley plain weaning yoghurt) or with toddler meals where people with very young babies won't look? If somebody is buying purees they will head down the baby food aisle which puts this product at a real disadvantage.

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?

My dog eats a raw meat diet so yes, I have seen chilled/frozen pet food. I have also seen chilled toddler meals so I'm unsure why you say there is no chilled baby food. Perhaps you mean first weaning foods, although there are plenty of fresh chilled foods that are suitable for babies! No this won't change how I shop.

  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
The plain apple one.
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
Savoury options. These are all far too sweet, especially for first stage purees as it is important for babies to get used to savoury tastes early in their weaning journey. Options containing protein would be better too as, apart from very early in weaning, these do not provide a sufficient meal. Maybe they're not intended to be a meal though..? It's unclear.
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
Probably not due to the expense, and if I was going to spend that much I'd rather do it on fresh fruit.
  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
No; too expensive and too limited to sweet fruit recipes
Hendersonsisnotrelish · 26/08/2017 13:54
  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?

No and no.

  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
She is not fussy and liked them all. Especially the coconut one and the kiwi one.
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?

As others have said, more textured and/or savoury options.
DD was almost 10 months when these arrived so maybe a little older than the target market so I used the pouches to form part of a dessert for her, even the supposedly savoury flavours, as they were so sweet.

She did enjoy them though and has clamped her lips shut after a taste of any other jar/pouch offered to her so I do feel the taste is superior to other pouches on the market.

  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?

Not at the price and at this stage. I may consider for a younger baby if more reasonably priced/on offer. I would be more likely to purchase at the current price if the savoury options were less sweet.

  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?

Yes if i was aware that the person would be willing/able to justify the cost and had a young baby in the first stages of weaning.

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food?

No I definitely did not know that as I don't shop that type of dog food for my pets so I wouldn't know but this does surprise me
Will this change the way you shop for your little one? Yes I think it's a great thing to have chilled, fresh baby food rather than it always being down a room temperature item food. It makes me feel it is more organic, fresh and holds more vitamins and nutrients

  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?coconut and cocoa my little one demolished very quickly
  2. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? I was surprise at the percentages of the actual ingredients that are the specific pouch. I would have thought the percentages would be higher. How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets? I would say my son definitely preferred these to the food pouches in the baby section
  3. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why? Yes as I know it will contain more natural nutrients
  4. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?yes because according to my son and how he ate it, they are delicious and non tampered with as much as others on the market

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
I didn't know that but it won't affect my shopping.
  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
She really enjoyed all of them other than the Cacau and coconut one.
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
Apple was the main ingredient in all of them even though the names would imply a higher % of the more interesting / headline ingredients. I was concerned about the sugar content and lack of meat / protein. I'd prefer more savoury and low sugar options
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
I might buy them as pudding options but not as main meals / taster purée because of the high apple content and high sugar.
  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
Only as a pudding / treat option.

1.Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?

I was aware of chilled food for older children and of fresh food for pets (though not in supermarkets!). I find the convenience of all the specific baby food being in the same place in the supermarket good as it keeps visits to a minimum length. I'm not sure I would be bothered about hunting the chilled aisles for these pouches unless it were the onky thing I could get my baby to eat.

2.Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?

She seemed to enjoy them all, though she is a fan of sweeter pouches anyway. Her favourite was the beetroot flavoured pouch.

3.How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?

All the supplied flavours were apple based and overwhelmingly sweet. Also, the billing order within the flavour was misleading if you didn't also check the ingredients list - slightly disingenuous to call it x flavour when the prime component is y (apple it seems). The range of flavours is much more limited than other brands, there is no follow on product available (thicker pureed and textures), and shop location would mean an extra schelp around the chilled aisles to find. Also, the having to keep chilled is a pain - no keeping a pouch spare in the changing bag just in case and logistically a bit trickier to take out and about, though not impossible. The first thing that struck me though was the life of the pouch once opened - 6 to 12 hours is very short for a product intended as first flavours - by the very nature of this, babies probably won't be eating much yet, and so the potential for wastage is very high. Given the very high cost, I would risk the expensive wastage personally, and would opt for an equivalent pouch with a longer open life, or that is suitable for freezing into smaller portions.

4.Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?

To be honest, it not being heat pasteurized isn't an issue for me either way - if it cost the same I might favour this brand due to the impression of freshness, but it's not something I would pay such a significant amount extra for. If freshness were that much of a factor, I would make fresh myself and not be using pouches to start with! Also, were the range larger and more texture available for older babies, then eating a pouch or more per meal would mean our cost to feed our baby would almost double! Pouches are already a fairly saturated market and the "unique" selling points of this brand are not things that are my primary concern when selecting well balanced meals for my baby.

5.Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?

Probably not. My baby enjoyed them, but I can't see that the chilled/cold pressed element really makes much difference, and although I can understand where the extra cost may come from in manufacture (and how a high price may imply better quality/higher end), I don't think the high price is really justifiable. I may consider buying or recommending as an occasional purchase, or buying to feed cold immediately but not as an everyday option.

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
I won't be changing the way I shop, not sure there's a huge need for chilled baby food.
  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
He liked all of the flavours, ate them all. Was using them more as a sweet treat after his main meal as he is now 14 months.
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
Quite unusual flavour combinations made quite a nice change to the norm. All were very sweet though so wider range of savoury options could be good
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
Doesn't bother me whether the food is treated with heat or cold. From seeing other reviews and knowing it's very expensive I wouldn't purchase it.
  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
I would recommend them as an alternative to the usual sachets available as you can tell how fresh and natural the contents are, however if the previous reviews are correct then the price is far too expensive and no normal mum can afford that. I'd stick to the usual sachets and jars already available.

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
No I did not know this but it wouldn't influence me.
  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
The apple one.
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
I found the recipes closest to the babese brand. I found them very sweet and heavy on apple or banana. I would like to have less sweet vegetable based recipes.
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
It is less convenient but if I saw evidence it was nutritionally superior I would purchase it.
  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
I found it very similar in flavour and ingredients to other organic brands e.g. Ellas and picollo. I would say its just as good as these so recommend. I don't understand why cold pressing is nutritionally superior so I'd like to see evidence on this.
wwwwwwwwwwwwww · 27/08/2017 22:57

Also the packaging on mine was damaged. It's not as thick as other brands and this might be a problem.

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?

Yes I have seen chilled dog food before.
Understand it is your unique selling point therefore the pouches have a shorter expiry than other baby pouches but didn't get off to a good start when one of them was already out of date when it arrived and never received a replacement after being told of the mistake and advised another was on the way.

  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?

He liked the blueberry one and also the beetroot one.

  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?

*You should list the marketing name of pouch flavours to reflect actual ingredients.

I found it annoying that you market the expensive ingredients first i.e. Blueberry and xxx flavour for example, but if you read actual ingredients it's full of cheaper ingredients like apple with minimal blueberries. I noticed this with most of the pouch flavours.

The only brand I know that actually do this well is Aldi - their Mango, apple and banana pouch has mango as main ingredient. Mums scrutinise baby food ingredients and nutrients so it will be noticed quite widely I image.*

  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?

I like the idea but probably wouldn't purchase based on previous answer. I don't think the ingredients reflect the price.

  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?

Not sure, again based on the above. If apple is your mostly widely used ingredient, it's a lot cheaper to cook/stew some apples and do it myself.

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
I didn't know, but I don't know why. I think this product is a great idea.
  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
To be honest, she ate them all just as fast!
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
I think just an even wider range of flavours to chose from would be great. I prefer these to other food pouches because I like the idea of fresh fruit and veg without preservatives.
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
I would if it was available in my local supermarket
  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
Because it is packed full of goodness and 'super foods' so you feel good that your baby is getting good nutrition from a ready made product

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food?
I didn't know there was chilled pet food. There are some chilled baby foods, the Little Dish ones for example, but there certainly aren't enough chilled options.

Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
No probably not. The fact they have to be kept chilled means they aren't really practical for days out or in the car etc.

  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
Coconut, cacao, apple and banana was probably his favourite but he liked all of them.
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
I think it compares well. The range of flavours and the choice of veg and fruit used is really good. I like the packaging, it looks clean and fresh.
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
Yes,it feels like a better product closer to the natural source of the food with less processing.

Yes I would, th a range of flavours and ingredients is great and it seems really healthy.

No I haven't noticed chilled pet food, and surprised I hadn't seen chilled baby food pouches before.
  1. Which was your little one’s
favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range? I tried a little bit of each one before my child had,I found all the flavours worked well The cucumber, kiwi, kale, spinach apple & banana and the coconut, cacao, apple and banana stood out. My child seemed to enjoy them all,bit young to tell me what is preferred though.I found that they have a more refreshing homemade taste than some other baby pouches that sometimes be more concentrated And tangy.
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
I liked that they are supposed to be more nutritional, organic, they taste more homemade, bpa free and they are different being cold pressed. They have the convenient pouch I like of other baby food. The price though is a bit more than other pouches available which I understand is probably due to the different manufacturing, but if my child was at the weaning stage,it would get expensive. At the stage my child is at we use pouches as a snack while out and about,or a dessert or to mix with porridge or yogurt.Usually I leave a pouch in my bag,but as these are fresh I had to make sure I didn't forget to leave them in my bag if not used while out and about,so that a bit of a disadvantage for me.
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?I would at this stage my child is at,as its not to often I need to use them, would have been a bit expensive at weaning stage unless a bit cheaper or on offer or for using for out and about.
  2. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
Yes as they taste good.my child ate them all, I like that some of the unusual flavour combinations they work well and seem more nutritious than usual baby pouches.

Notes
Other reviews at the start said there was problems with how they arrived. No problems with mine they arrived on time and chilled when arrived.

My baby absolutely loved every single Savsé food pouch he couldn't get enough of them!

  1. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
I wasn't aware of these food pouches until I saw this campaign and I am delighted to have been chosen! I wouldn't hesitate to purchase these in the future my baby absolutely loved them all.
  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
My baby absolutely loved each one equally I was so surprised at some of the fruits and vegetables he was eating as I didn't think he would like them but he just whoofed them down they were gone before I could get the next mouthful ready for him.
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
I felt like these foods were much fresher than the jars and pouches you can get from other brands. Maybe because they belonged in the fridge and you could tell they contained fresh fruit and vegetables. They were also great for the hot weather we had been having as they cooled him down no end.
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
I wouldn't hesitate to purchase My First Savsé pouches if I saw them in the supermarkets.
  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
Absolutely, i have already recommended them to all my friends and family because I believe these are the next best thing to home made food and contain all the nutrients that I would want my baby to be getting.

A* would be my conclusion I am extremely happy with the products the packaging is also a huge selling point for me. I loved that it came in a cool bag with dry ice. Everything about the product and the produce seemed first class. Thank you once again for being given the opportunity to participate! Grin

I hadn't heard about First Savse before I tested them I don't think it will change the way I buy the food as I mix it up between shop bought and homemade
  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
He enjoyed Lentil, sweet potato, carrot and apple but loved Coconut, Cacao, apple & banana
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
Baring the above two flavours he really didn't like the other flavours at all I feel that there is far too much apple in the products and it is such a strong flavour that over rode all the other tastes and found that this is what was putting him off eating them
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
Unfortunately I wouldn't buy them as they are just too apple oriented and really runny as well they really could do with more lumps in to get them used to chewing
  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
I probably would as long as their child likes lots of apple and also if they don't mind the exploding nappies that come from the mixture of foods

  1. No it won't change the way I shop. I do not tend to buy baby food, rather I feed my babies the same food that we eat.
  1. My baby is both liked all of the flavours, but they are not Fussy Eaters and eat everything anyway. I think they particularly liked the fact that all the pouches were very sweet, with apple being the main ingredient!
  1. I think they could improve by not bulking all the food out with Apple puree. The titles of the pouches were misleading, as often the flavour listed on the couch with an ingredient that was not a very high percentage of the overall content of the food. As others have said it was mostly apple!!
  1. No I won't be purchasing them, apart from the fact that they are very expensive, I like my whole family to all the same things so don't feel the need to buy specialised baby food for the little ones. Departures are handy to easily feed children when you're out and about, but I have bought my own reusable pouches off Amazon to fill with my own homemade puree that will cost a fraction of the price of these ones!
  1. Yes probably if I knew another parent who is looking for healthy baby food, wanted to buy it from a supermarket rather than make it themselves, and didn't mind that they were all very sweet in the main ingredient was Apple.

. Did you know that until My First Savsé came along, there was chilled pet food available in retailers but no chilled baby food? Will this change the way you shop for your little one?
I did not know about there being chilled pet food available to purchase, a bit gross that its in fridges where we put our food. Did not know about chilled baby food either. I will definitely explore the chilled foods for baby food.

  1. Which was your little one’s favourite recipe from the My First Savsé Stage 1 range?
He loved them all...to my surprise!
  1. How could My First Savsé improve their recipes? How would you say My First Savsé compares to the current offering of baby food pouches in supermarkets?
Fruits and veg were mixed in some flavours maybe not have soo much flavours in one. But a novel idea, especially as theres no hidden nasties such as added sugar or salt.
  1. Knowing that My First Savsé is never heat pasteurised, would you purchase My First Savsé if it was widely available in supermarkets, and why?
I probably would purchase purely for its nutritional values.
  1. Would you recommend My First Savsé baby food to a friend or family member, and why?
Definitely! My baby took to it on the first spoonful! He enjoyed it and finished them all. I used these as a top up to his meals as hes not much of an eater.

I would love to see these available for older babies 1+

I've never read a sample thread where so many of the testers have negative comments to make.

I suspect the attempt at linking fresh pet food availability to non for babies (er, the fridge is full of food small children can eat once they reach the right age what with them being humans etc, is that pets shouldn't be more catered for than children.

I wasn't saying it wasn't deserved! TBH I think things like these pouches and Ella's etc are ridiculous. It's so easy to make your own food and take it out with you I don't know why anyone would spend £1.70 on puréed fruit.

Why do you think mumsnet HQ are at fault, MotherofSausage?

I was so excited to have the chance to test My First Savsé baby food Grin and when it arrived in a cool bag to keep it cool I fed Hazel the 1st 1 and she ate all of it.
I placed the rest into the fridge so that she had 1 aday so I could see how she was with them all.
I fed each of them cold and she enjoyed all except the spinach ones... Im not sure if thats personal taste or if they was just yukky Confused (as I did not taste them myself lol).
When eating the ones she liked she couldnt eat them fast enough and I think she would of eaten more if I had offered her any (she even had the packet at the end trying to suck more out) Grin
When eating the ones she didnt like she just kept spitting it out and crying so we didnt even get halfway through. Sad
I will definately buy the ones she likes again and would like to see more of a variety from Savsé.

Going MN not really at fault, just a bit slow to react to the initial complaints about poorly tummies/out of date food. Also a bit disorganized - we were told (by MN iirc) that out of date food would be replaced, then told that we would get a voucher, then silence... MN is ideal for manufacturers wanting to test baby stuff (and presumably a revenue raiser for MN) but this one appears to have gone somewhat tits up without much effort seemingly being made to sort it out. I am just relieved that I didn't feed the out of date pouch to DS.

Disclaimer: I work in the food industry albeit not in baby food. We do lots of product tests. I may be over-invested in this! Grin

I totally agree about fresh food - the main advantage of pouches is the shelf life/convenience. If I am at home with my fruit bowl and my Moulinex, why on earth wouldn't I make my own?! I could fill a big hole in the freezer for £1.70!
