Mind Candy is launching a new subscription service and they’ve asked us to find 250 Mumsnetters to try it out. If you’re selected, your DC will receive a personalised letter addressed to them from Moshlingologist Buster Bumblechops. This letter will set them on a fun quest to retrieve a special stolen egg, with the help of the contents of their surprise Moshi Mystery Box, which will follow in the post. The boxes also work in tandem with the free Moshi Egg Hunt Mobile Game, which can be downloaded for both iOS and Android.

Here’s what Mind Candy have to say: ‘The experience begins when your DC receives an exciting personalised letter in the post, in which Buster Bumblechops explains that a very special Moshling egg has been stolen and that he’ll soon be sending a Moshi Mystery Box, jam-packed with clues, activities and missions. The first box contains fun art and craft activities, Moshi collectables, a comic strip, jokes and much more. And if you decide to sign up, there will be two more Moshi Mystery Boxes to follow.

A simple story runs across all three boxes, taking your child on a quest across Monstro City. Each box is also themed - box one is the Frostipop Glacier, two is Potion Ocean and three is all about the Gombala Gombala Jungle! The first box will also contain a pack of trading cards that can be scanned to unlock exclusive characters in the 100% free Moshi Monsters Egg Hunt Mobile Game!’

So if you’d like your DC to be sent their letter from Buster Bumblechops and one Moshi Mystery Box, fill out your details here to sign up. You’ll also be given the opportunity to extend to a paid subscription, so kids can enjoy the final two boxes and complete the code to unlock an ultra rare new character in the game!

All selected testers will be asked to post on a feedback thread after the product test, answering a few questions about how they found the experience. All testers who leave their feedback will be entered into a prize draw, where one will be randomly selected to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Ours arrived today too. Fits through the letterbox. DD was so excited. Balloons are in the freezer 2 with a mini moshi and one with a big moshi. Kids loved it, DS was a bit upset he didn't get his own, would easily be appropriate for him, he's 4.

Will do the egg tomorrow.

DD is playing the app now on the iPad she's loving scanning the cards. The app kept crashing on DS hudl.

Any idea where the clue is?

What about other boxes do we need to purchase them?

No letter and no box as yet. Hopefully we will receive it this week. Looks exciting. We already have the app in preparation.

What about other boxes do we need to purchase them?

£9.99 each or if you buy both together you get a 10% discount and pay £17.99. Really don't think they're worth that Hmm

Our box arrived today. DS very excited by the moshi monster in the box and the little bags.

Balloons are in the freezer ready to be unfrozen tomorrow and DS has been glued to the app. He's loved scanning the cards and hatching the eggs.

To the op who said their DS was only 5 so won't be doing the app - that's DS's age and he's found it perfectly usable so you shouldn't have a problem Smile

Yikes! DC think they are getting more because bumble chops has said they will get more.

Box arrived today, DD very happy. They are now expecting the other 2 boxes.....

I feel a little duped here. Its a bit like those clubs where you sign up for one cheap book then end up paying through the nose for other books. No wonder they wanted to many of us to "test", they will be making quite a bit of money for not much content and very slow delivery rates. Feels a bit sneaky.

I wouldn't pay anything more than a fiver per box for last two tbh. There's loads of children's sub boxes and I'd price this a lot lower.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 17/06/2017 20:57

Ds wasn't really that impressed tbh.

I was thinking they might be the same price as a CBeebies mag. £9.99. Wow.

Are the balloons supposed to be put in the freezer overnight? DC1 put it in for 3 hours and nothing much had happened when they took it out.

Iambubbles86 · 17/06/2017 21:08

Bumblechops specifically says "I'll be in touch again soon" so it is forcing you into buying the next ones, which again I wouldn't mind for say a fiver but a tenner is too much

Report
WindyWednesday · 17/06/2017 21:08

I did one for three hours and it wasn't very frozen. So the other one is for tomorrow.

After waiting forever for this box to arrive, my DD has been over the moon with it and is now eagerly awaiting the other two boxes. I, on the other hand, do not want to pay £17.99 for them! They are not worth that much by any stretch of the imagination. I wish they had been upfront about what the cost was going to be. Now I either pay out or have an upset child Hmm

I also felt we were given the impression it was a stand alone box and whilst it is optional to buy the boxes, you can't complete the story without them.

Unless MindCandy come on and say this was a smaller box as it was a freebie and the paid for boxes are bigger I can't see me buying them. That's a hell of a lot of money for 2 balloons and 3 Moshi Monsters

Report
WindyWednesday · 17/06/2017 21:26

I agree. It's a lot of money. I read the contents of the other two boxes, it doesn't seem to have any Moshi monsters in it.

I can't see how it can be worth £9.99

Report
Maudlinmaud · 17/06/2017 21:36

What's all this now? We haven't received anything yet but after reading this I am not too bothered. They did say in the op the first box was free and you could buy additional if you wanted. Do you need all the boxes?

Report
ButtonMooooon · 17/06/2017 21:40

Yeah you can't complete the story without the other two boxes and it's very obvious to a child reading it for themselves there's more to come. The letter even says I'll be in touch again soon I didn't read that bit out to my DS

Report
WindyWednesday · 17/06/2017 21:42

You need the other boxes if you want to solve the mystery. Also in the letter bumblechops says he will be sending more.

Report
Maudlinmaud · 17/06/2017 21:42

Argh! But does the app work without the boxes? Dd seems happy enough looking at it, but I'm not sure what it even does.

Eek £9.99 is a lot. Ds has been soooo excited about all this. Our box arrived yesterday, and he loves it. I was thinking I'd have to buy the last 2 boxes, especially as the letter tells them about the next box, but I'm not sure I want to spend £17.99!

We haven't looked at the app, although we will do.

I might be being a bit stupid, but how does the whole 'egg' thing work that report are 'morning's for? Is it salmon the aop, or do they ever find a physical egg? e.g. In the last box? Anyone know?

Report
Lapinlapin · 18/06/2017 07:35

Oops, didn't proofread the last para.

Supposed to say how does the egg thing work that they are hunting for? Is it all on the app, or do they receive an egg in one of the next boxes?

Report
WindyWednesday · 18/06/2017 08:14

I couldn't see any reference to the missing egg bumblechops wants you to loo for, but I haven't read everything in the box properly.

There was too much excitement when the box was opened!
