Mind Candy is launching a new subscription service and they’ve asked us to find 250 Mumsnetters to try it out. If you’re selected, your DC will receive a personalised letter addressed to them from Moshlingologist Buster Bumblechops. This letter will set them on a fun quest to retrieve a special stolen egg, with the help of the contents of their surprise Moshi Mystery Box, which will follow in the post. The boxes also work in tandem with the free Moshi Egg Hunt Mobile Game, which can be downloaded for both iOS and Android.

Here’s what Mind Candy have to say: ‘The experience begins when your DC receives an exciting personalised letter in the post, in which Buster Bumblechops explains that a very special Moshling egg has been stolen and that he’ll soon be sending a Moshi Mystery Box, jam-packed with clues, activities and missions. The first box contains fun art and craft activities, Moshi collectables, a comic strip, jokes and much more. And if you decide to sign up, there will be two more Moshi Mystery Boxes to follow.

A simple story runs across all three boxes, taking your child on a quest across Monstro City. Each box is also themed - box one is the Frostipop Glacier, two is Potion Ocean and three is all about the Gombala Gombala Jungle! The first box will also contain a pack of trading cards that can be scanned to unlock exclusive characters in the 100% free Moshi Monsters Egg Hunt Mobile Game!’

So if you’d like your DC to be sent their letter from Buster Bumblechops and one Moshi Mystery Box, fill out your details here to sign up. You’ll also be given the opportunity to extend to a paid subscription, so kids can enjoy the final two boxes and complete the code to unlock an ultra rare new character in the game!

All selected testers will be asked to post on a feedback thread after the product test, answering a few questions about how they found the experience. All testers who leave their feedback will be entered into a prize draw, where one will be randomly selected to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Ours never arrived either. I think I'd missed an email about sending my address but I followed it up and it was being chased up. But it never came.

Just came back to add, my youngest son (nearly 3) has rediscovered his older brother's tiny moshis from this box. He has not put them down for about 3 days, he adores them.

Same. We mustn't be getting any.

Maudlinmaud - I haven't received the letter or box either. Not sure exactly what the problem is & not being told anything useful when there's children being let down. I already know I won't be purchasing the other boxes, just because.

Anyone else not received letter or box yet?

May be a silly question, but have you checked in settings that the camera is turned on for the app? That was why ours wouldn't work to start.

I (sorry, they Blush ) did enjoy the frozen balloon - we did it this evening. I get the impression that the kids are expecting the ice to "do" something overnight though...

Box arrived, Ds very excited. Frozen balloon activity was fun and he loved the toys.

Please could someone help me as I'm having trouble scanning cards on iPad, not sure what to enable as didn't come up in privacy request. Thanks in advance as ds is sad that we can't scan them.

Box arrived on Saturday, DD got it today as she was at her dad's place. There are 2 moshlings in balloons freezing as I type. She's now engrossed in the game on my phone. The codes won't scan so that's useful Hmm

I haven't looked at the next boxes yet, though from what I'm reading up thread I doubt DD will be getting them.

DD had lots of fun with the ice eggs and hatching the monsters activity. The painting activity wasn't very inspiring.

DD who is 5 enjoyed the aspect of receiving a letter and then a box addressed to her but overall I wouldn't pay £9.99 for next one. Mainly because it had too little content.

I am quite disappointed with the box, the comic strip is a hit but they will not get the rest of the story as I will not be spending £20 on the follow up boxes.
Despite supervision, the kids blew up the balloons then they popped, they filled egg shaped cases with water to put the moshi monsters in, but got the cards soaked in the process, so now the QR codes cannot be scanned....
They did paint the egg shape. As expected the novelty wore off after 10 minutes. The weekend box is better value. (They are also flogging the moshi boxes)

Really disappointed in this after all the hype waiting for them, they are in no way worth the £9.99 cost.

We haven't received either the letter or box as yet but to be honest, after reading this thread is can't say I'm all that bothered. Doesn't sound like we are missing out on much

experiment with salt or warm water to get them to 'hatch

Or get bored and put them in the sink and try and hack the ice off with a (blunt) knife like my DS Blush

NotCitrus · 19/06/2017 00:29

The balloons - fill with water, add a Moshling or two, freeze for 3h, cut balloons off then experiment with salt or warm water to get them to 'hatch'. There's a card to explain.
Best bit of it all.

What have I to put in the balloons? I have sachets of salt or sugar or something.

Report
ButtonMooooon · 18/06/2017 19:29

NotCitrus I couldn't figure out the code either, I tried looking at the random bits of bold text but there seemed to be too much to be anything of relevance Hmm

As far as I can work out the "mystery" is the comic strip story. To be continued....when you buy the next two boxes.

No idea about the app codes. We downloaded it and have played a bit with it, I think there maybe things to unlock for money. But I'm only guessing.

I'm hoping someone comes and tells us a bit more.

Report
NotCitrus · 18/06/2017 19:04

Totally confused about the bit where you have to find the first bit of the code in the story, and then there's another page saying here are codes 1 and 2 and then theres one in ep 3. Its most unclear whether you have to pay for the app and other boxes - ds has convinced himself that two more boxes will be coming in the post...

The balloons and salt were good as freezing things in ice was perfect for this weather, but the other activities were less than an typical CBeebies mag for £2.99, wrapped up in the confusing story so i have no idea if we can get any more without spending lots of money.

Hmm DS is just opening his and is loving it but not sure it's worth £9.99 and really dislike the fact it says collect more to complete your adventure.

Leahbaxter · 18/06/2017 14:38

My daughter has been patiently waiting for this for a while, excited when the box finally arrived! I was very much disappointed! The "activities" in the box, put water in a balloon & freeze it? Don't think it's very imaginative. Suppose only good side is it came with balloons and the paint and templates etc. I would certainly not pay 9.99 for a box? 8 year old was bored quite quickly with this!

fishybits · 18/06/2017 11:45

Just doing it now.

We get the small Toucan boxes and they are of far superior quality and literally half the price. I'm quite shocked at £9.99 per box.

MimsyBorogroves · 18/06/2017 10:12

Ours arrived yesterday, DS is very impressed. Boggling at the fact they're £9.99 though.

Can you still buy Moshi monsters - as in the little toys? DS loves his little cake guy, and that might be enough to convince him he's finished 😂

I couldn't see any reference to the missing egg bumblechops wants you to loo for, but I haven't read everything in the box properly.

There was too much excitement when the box was opened!

Oops, didn't proofread the last para.

Supposed to say how does the egg thing work that they are hunting for? Is it all on the app, or do they receive an egg in one of the next boxes?
