This thread is for the ten Mumsnetters who were chosen by INNOVO® to test and keep their new pelvic floor stimulator, which is designed to alleviate stress incontinence.

Stress incontinence is the term used when leaks accidently occur from coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping or doing heavy lifting. These simple movements put pressure on the bladder and, should your pelvic floor muscles be unable to tighten enough, will cause a leak. Stress incontinence can also be called bladder weakness or urinary incontinence. INNOVO® is a new pelvic floor stimulator that works to strengthen the muscle and put an end to those pesky leaks.

Here’s what INNOVO™ have to say about their product:
‘Innovotherapy is a non-invasive way to restore your pelvic floor, treating the primary cause of urinary leaks rather than just masking the symptoms. Using a hand held controller that is attached to a two part garment, Innovotherapy sends targeted impulses via conductive pads (attached to your upper thigh and buttocks) to safely and effectively activate the muscles of the pelvic floor. It is a proven technology which has been designed to optimally strengthen your pelvic floor with 180 perfect contractions per session, allowing the device to do your pelvic floor exercises for you.
Results from a research study prove that women who experience stress incontinence will experience significant improvements in as little as four weeks by using INNOVO® five days a week for 30 minutes. After 12 weeks of treatment the participants were defined as being ‘dry’ or ‘almost dry’. So it won’t take long to get your confidence back’

Testers were asked to use the product for thirty minutes per day, five times per week, over a twelve week period – the recommended treatment programme from INNOVO®.

Testers, please answer the following questions:

  • How did you find the process of learning to use INNOVO®? Did you receive support where needed?
  • What did you do to pass the time while using INNOVO®?
  • What did the sensation of using INNOVO® feel like?
  • Have you noticed an improvement in the strength of your pelvic floor after testing for 12 weeks? If so, when did you first start to notice the improvement? What activities/ actions can you do now that you couldn’t before?
  • Would you recommend INNOVO® to a friend with bladder sensitivity?

Non testers, in order to be entered into the prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an INNOVO® worth £249, please tell us how the machine would improve your life by strengthening your pelvic floor.

All testers who complete the feedback process will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £300 Love2Shop Voucher.

Thanks, MNHQ

Non tester. I'm gutted I didn't get to test. After second child and assisted delivery I've had a weak pelvic floor such as coughing making me pee, etc. Now I'm pregnant again I've been feeling such a weight in my muscles down there and have been doing exercises just to help with not totally peeing when I cough or sneeze.

I'd love to use this to exercise more efficiently in time for birth as I feel it will improve my anxieties about it as well as begin a more effective recovery aftetwards

cookiewuk · 05/08/2016 14:19

I would absolutely love to win one of these! I am trying to get fit again so I can run around with the kids as much as they want me to. I struggle with my workouts as I leak when jumping or running etc. There is no way I can go on the trampoline and that really disappoints the kids. I am a busy homeschool mum and this would enhance my life greatly.

justamo · 05/08/2016 16:57

Wow! What amazing endorsements for this product. After 2 speedy births of big babies my undercarriage is shot. I play netball but fear jumping, my team mates are always yelling at me to 'jump' but I daren't. I don't drink for 2 hours before a game and wear the biggest pad I can. I'm also avoiding sex as wetting my husband is not a turn on. I'm an intelligent woman I know I can go to the Drs for help but the embarrassment factor is just too high. Innovo sounds too good to be true. I'd love to win one & find out for myself.

MrsPMT · 05/08/2016 19:24

non-tester

Would absolutely love to win one of these, after DS(11yrs) pelvic floor was v weak and with help from physio it did improve. But have had major relapse (perimenopause maybe, am 44) and am now at risk of leaks v frequently Sad and feel so demoralised & stressed with it.

Agoz · 05/08/2016 20:53

Can't laugh without crossing my legs!
Can't sneeze without crossing my legs!

  • but crossing my legs doesn't help on one occasion;) Thanks to giving vaginal birth to my two DD's...
barbsbarbs · 06/08/2016 07:39

after having four children, my pelvic floor has never been as bad, when I laugh, run, exercise or just badly need the loo, I get stress incontinence. this machine would be the best thing ever.

deepcmum · 06/08/2016 09:34

I would love to try this, any improvments in that department is would be welcome.

janeyf1 · 06/08/2016 09:44

I am a non-tester but would love to try it - definitely think it could help me as I could do with some help in that area!

stefalfie11 · 06/08/2016 11:32

Non tester here - i'd love one so I could cough and laugh without the fear of leaking. It would also massively improve my confidence as it's taken a real hit due to constantly feeling like I need to get to a toilet quickly.

MagicalRealist · 06/08/2016 11:45

Non tester :)

This sounds fantastic, I'd love to try it. I've only had 2 kids but my pelvic floor is a mess, maybe thanks to hypermobility making everything deteriorate faster.

I've got used to needing pads every day but worry that even though I change them a lot, I might smell of wee BlushSad Sneezing is horrific even if I brace myself for it.

In a weird way, it's slightly comforting to read these posts and know I'm not the only one going through it.

Oh my goodness-I never even knew there were products like this! ..I also never knew (until recently) of the horror situation of unexpected leaks. To be honest-and without too many details..there was a "strangle"incident. It changed everything in our lives.Tho not part of the plan and tough as hell sometimes - i wouldnt hesitate in saying its for the better. It was the first time i experienced lack of bladder control..which apparently under the circumstances is fairly normal. the whole thing heralded an end to an awful situation. Or so i thought. The lives of my son and me are restricted I cant sneeze, cough, jump, run, walk downhill with out fear of\experiencing "leaks" .i cant wear the clothes i want to or leave the house without being worried\constantly aware. These arent new feelings unfortunately. They certainly arent ones i want. I have so much to be thankful for,its a long way from anything you'd call easy yet. I try to look for the good and positive. I am a different, happier, free person with a lovely little boy but i feel like my shadow is still the same.i think the product might help fix this.;id love to try

feefeegabor · 06/08/2016 13:10

I'm a non-tester but like everyone here, my pelvic floor could do with some help after childbirth! This sounds like an amazing piece of equipment and I am sure it would help my problem!

happysouls · 06/08/2016 13:14

Non tester! I've had various bladder issues I'd like to keep on top of, plus I want to have a great sex life for the rest of my life so improving my pelvic floor muscles would be great!

DirtyPlacemarker · 06/08/2016 13:38

I'm a non tester too and would love to win an Innovo pelvic floor stimulater.
I enjoyed reading the tester reviews and could really relate to Chammy IRL. My weakness stops me from going all out during exercise at home and running in the park. Sneezing, coughing and being sick are all stressful and if I get a cold or a bug I have to wear incontinence pads full time, just in case.

Ang29 · 06/08/2016 13:48

Non tester. I would love to give this a try, having two kids my pelvic floor is not as strong as it used to be and if I'm bursting to go to the loo sometimes a little bit trickles out quite frequently I leak so have to use pantyliners at all times.

maureenm48 · 06/08/2016 14:27

Non-tester

I would have the confidence to do things on impulse,to join in with others-to dance & laugh - without holding back.

user1470426914 · 06/08/2016 14:27

Non tester here: I would really love one of these! I had my first child in February this year. The birth was long and traumatic and as a result I have a grade 2 cystocele and rectocele. I am having pelvic floor physiotherapy but I find it hard to exercise my pelvic floor muscles properly. My prolapses affect my day to day life so I would love the chance to win this machine and strengthen my pelvic floor and hopefully had a better quality of life as a result. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to buy one.

Poncall · 06/08/2016 19:46

My babies are rather big now! But I am suffering the after effects of delivering a lb10.14oz baby. This device would help my stress incontinence enormously. x

bloomburger · 06/08/2016 20:57

Non tester but I'd love to win one. Have tried 2 other makes and they haven't made a difference. DH just thought it hilarious me laying in bed involuntarily clenching and unclenching. He was also rather disappointed the addition of KY jelly to our weekly Ocado shop wasn't for some marathon sex sessions I had been planning. I'm only 42 and want to spend my disposable income on gun and manicures not bloody tenna lady pads! Blush

wooo69 · 06/08/2016 21:38

Non tester

Why have I never heard of this product before? I am another one joining the leaky group. I cannot sneeze, cough or run (and sometimes tbh it just comes out when I walk).
If this can really work in 12 weeks then I need it in my life.

Kera16 · 07/08/2016 02:10

Would like to win one. Had no trouble before birth, but after an emergency forceps birth, was completely incontinent for 8 weeks. Vastly improved after physio, but want to get back to the way it was before without leaks.

clairesamuel · 07/08/2016 09:01

Non- tester here: it would stop little accidents.

flamingtoaster · 07/08/2016 18:02

Non-tester/2 children. It would be lovely when having to go somewhere new my first thought wasn't where are the loos and what will they be like. It would be great not to slip out quietly before the interval at a concert, and to wash less underwear.

ThisUsernameIsAvailable · 07/08/2016 21:16

This would be amazing for me!
I do a lot of exercise, running, walking 10+fitness classes a week plus hours of gym weight training.
I could do better if I did t have to worry about my bladder, I struggle with jumping, star jumps and sometimes squats. I can't leave class to use the toilet if I feel a leak so I'm not working to my full potential because I'm worrying about my bladder. Sad

minifingerz · 07/08/2016 21:28

Non-tester. Would love one of these.

At 50 and with a history of giving birth to huge babies/shoulder dystocia/forceps, my pelvic floor tone is really poor :-(
