This thread is for the ten Mumsnetters who were chosen by INNOVO® to test and keep their new pelvic floor stimulator, which is designed to alleviate stress incontinence.

Stress incontinence is the term used when leaks accidently occur from coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping or doing heavy lifting. These simple movements put pressure on the bladder and, should your pelvic floor muscles be unable to tighten enough, will cause a leak. Stress incontinence can also be called bladder weakness or urinary incontinence. INNOVO® is a new pelvic floor stimulator that works to strengthen the muscle and put an end to those pesky leaks.

Here’s what INNOVO™ have to say about their product:
‘Innovotherapy is a non-invasive way to restore your pelvic floor, treating the primary cause of urinary leaks rather than just masking the symptoms. Using a hand held controller that is attached to a two part garment, Innovotherapy sends targeted impulses via conductive pads (attached to your upper thigh and buttocks) to safely and effectively activate the muscles of the pelvic floor. It is a proven technology which has been designed to optimally strengthen your pelvic floor with 180 perfect contractions per session, allowing the device to do your pelvic floor exercises for you.
Results from a research study prove that women who experience stress incontinence will experience significant improvements in as little as four weeks by using INNOVO® five days a week for 30 minutes. After 12 weeks of treatment the participants were defined as being ‘dry’ or ‘almost dry’. So it won’t take long to get your confidence back’

Testers were asked to use the product for thirty minutes per day, five times per week, over a twelve week period – the recommended treatment programme from INNOVO®.

Testers, please answer the following questions:

  • How did you find the process of learning to use INNOVO®? Did you receive support where needed?
  • What did you do to pass the time while using INNOVO®?
  • What did the sensation of using INNOVO® feel like?
  • Have you noticed an improvement in the strength of your pelvic floor after testing for 12 weeks? If so, when did you first start to notice the improvement? What activities/ actions can you do now that you couldn’t before?
  • Would you recommend INNOVO® to a friend with bladder sensitivity?

Non testers, in order to be entered into the prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an INNOVO® worth £249, please tell us how the machine would improve your life by strengthening your pelvic floor.

All testers who complete the feedback process will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £300 Love2Shop Voucher.

    Thanks, MNHQ

Non tester here, I would also love a chance to win. I'm 28 and after having dc2 I can't even laugh sometimes with peeing Blush. I've been doing my exercises for the last 9 months since having him and it has helped a little bit I'm know where back to normal one of these would do wonders.

Non Tester. I would dearly like to try this pelvic stimulator. After having twins that were nearly 7 pounds each nearly 30 years ago and now in menopause, life has been very restricting. I've not run in all that time, for fear of leakage and I miss it.

I'd also love to try this and it would be great to run a long distance race without having to have multiple toilet stops.

I have a question for testers or the company- what's the evidence for long term improvement? It seems short term regular use is effective, but what about after the 12 weeks. Do you have to use it for life or will the effects remain with no further usage of the device?

Thanks

I'm a non-tester but I 'd love to win one.
I first suffered with leaks and suddenly feeling the need to rush to the toilet after the birth of my first child. This seriously affected my enjoyment of his first months as I wasn't able to go out with other new mums unless I was sure there would always be a toilet nearby. With help from a physio I managed to improve this significantly until... I got pregnant again! I'm now suffering from the same issues again at only 20 weeks and terrified about how if will be after the birth. I'd love to use this afterwards to strengthen up.

Yes I was gutted that I didn't get to test this - would love the chance to win one!

I am also interested in the answer to bambooleaves question. I have tried to find the answer myself!

Non-tester.
It would allow me to exercise more confidently, particularly when it come to running.
I'd also really love to have a go at trampolining, but I'm too afraid to put my pelvic floor to the test.

Non- Tester here!
After having 3 children, I would like to start getting my body back- I have enough other reminders that I'm a mum, surely I don't need to keep my mummy body forever?!

Non-tester here.
I would love to win one of these as this has been a big problem for me since the birth of my 2nd child (4 years ago). I have been referred to physio treatment and then saw a bladder specialist, but I still suffer with this problem. I hate the idea of always using pads and having to think about what I'm wearing and doing.

About to have baby number 4 and having already felt the effects of 3 births on pelvic floor and dreading how much damage number 4 will do! I am hoping to start running again after I've had the baby and I would love to try this product! Very much hoping it will strengthen pelvic floor and help ensure that 'accidents' are kept to a minimum!

I was gutted not be chosen for this test as I thought it would be the answer to my problems. I've been using pads for years, my eldest DC is nearly 25. I would like to be free from the worry about having an accident whilst exercising. It's been good to read the feedback from the testers on here.

Non-tester - my issue is ostensibly that when I need to go for a wee I need to go ASAP. So I can still go for hours without needing the loo but when I do need to go it's a matter of some urgency to get to the loo on time...

It is often particularly an issue in the morning after the school run (and drinking two/three cups of real coffee).

So anything that could help me delay the urgency would improve my life loads...

I'm interested in the long term case studies question too.
Also do any of the testers either on here or in the blog's (had a skim read but couldn't tell) had any kind of prolapse and does this help at all?
In the situation I don't win I would be very interested in buying on with mn discount? but I would like to know the answers to this

Non tester here...
After two 9lb+ babies my pelvic floor is shot to pieces. I would love to be able to go for a run without having to stop drinking at least 3 hours beforehand.

Non-tester but my goodness it sounds like I need one of these. I have to use pads at the moment as I have a cold and every cough or sneeze causes leakage. I also have issues when I exercise that I've not been able to improve with pelvic floor exercises so this would make a big difference to me.

Non-tester. This does sound amazing and really seems to be feeling results quickly. I go through phases of being caught out by my weakened pelvic floor - a result of a third degree tear from first pregnancy and an episiotomy due to a whopper of s second child. Winter isn't great as cumulative coughs cause leaks and hay fever sneezes cause similar issues in the summer. I would love to be able to regularly run again and to be able to leap around with my DC rather than standing watching whilst DG gets to join in the fun.

Non Tester- can't believe I missed this one would absolutely love to win this. It sounds really good and a product that really works! I have had 3 children and have really noticed a difference the last year in my pelvic floor , I now have to start using a pad for excercise and have to do the cross legged thing when sneezing. This would make such a difference to me and make me so much less self conscious.

I have a little boy named Jaxon
He is child number four
He was so excited to come in to the world
He was born on the bathroom floor

After spending 9 months with pelvic pain
I was looking forward to the day
I got to deliver my bundle of joy
And the pain would go away

It only took two pushes
And out he popped
Although that sounds wonderful
My pelvic floor has dropped!

Now I'm bothered with prolapse
Which is another pregnancy 'delight'
As I now have to work really hard
At pulling my bowel and bladder in tight

So, please don't make me laugh
As it strains my pelvic floor
And I'll have another 'whoopsie' moment
And you'll find me running out the door

I would love to try INNOVO
To get back to the 'real me'
So I don't have to worry about
The chance of leaking pee!

I'm another mumsnetter who didn't get picked but would love to be every day pad free.
Mine is not only stress incontinence (jogging, Zumba etc) but just a general constant leak where I smell all the time of wee! Such a joy Wink

It would be awesome if I could do something to help my pelvic floor, I'd be able to actually jump-on trampolines or even star jumps. Just doing a 20 minute workout results in having to run to the loo at least 3 times. It does put me off actually doing anything like that.

Another non-tester here too, goodness I would love to win an INNOVO pelvic stimulator! I am so fed up of not being able to run after the kids, bounce on a trampoline or even dance like no-one's watching without a bit of pee coming out Blush I am dreading the inevitable day where I won't be able to hold it in any longer when I need the loo. I try not to drink much when out and about as I can't always find a toilet easily, so I always end up with headaches. Have tried doing pelvic floor exercises and they improve things for a little while then it starts getting worse again. This sounds like my dream product Grin

Non tester.

Sod exercising, I'd just like to get through a day without leaking. I work with EYFS and older children which involves PE sessions and am always conscious of wearing a pad. Playground duty can be hell when you can't just run off to the toilet.
