This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Toujours Nappies with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack
Size 5 Junior (11-25kg) 44 pack
Size 6 Extra Large Nappies 30 pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
‘Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. We ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and the Toujours range is now more flexible giving your baby the comfort and freedom to explore the world. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality high. Toujours is dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, minimising our carbon footprint.’

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I have emailed but just to confirm here as well that I didn't receive the nappies to test.

I'm not aware of any postal issues and I've had no other letters / packages go missing apart from one other Mumsnet product test - which didn't go missing but didn't have any postage on it and I didn't want to pay £3 for a squashed Easter Egg!

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
I tried them on my DS who is 5 months, size 4 Maxi.

What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I like that they aren't too bulky and there was no weird smell. Overall I was pleased with them. We did still have the odd wet leak up above the waistband overnight, but to be fair I've had this more with other brands, so I think DS is just difficult to find a good fit for.

Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes.

Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, they are reasonably priced for what you get.

Thank you for the trial.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My baby is a (very small) 15 week old, and we tried the Size 1 nappies.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Despite being at the upper end of the weight range, we found these to be reliable, even overnight. I also liked the fact that they were lightweight and felt papery, rather than plasticky.
We also (not as part of the trial) tried the size 2 nappies. However, we found that these leaked at the back (despite being within the weight range) which I think may be due to lack of stretch around the waist.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, if I was in Lidl. Not sure I'd go out of my way to seek them out.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My baby is almost 23 months and used size 5 nappies

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? They felt very thin and light which is good especially with warm weather, found they became quite heavy when wet which was not very good and leaked a few times.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
yes overall were good
4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Maybe if i was at lidl shopping but would not actively go buy these as did have few accidents with these

I really liked these nappies for my 2 year old which I tested in size 4. Never had a leak and were just as good as my usual brand. What I like most that they aren't bulky so I could fit a lot more in my bag.

Would definitely recommend these but not sure I would buy these because I would have to go out of my way.
Really positive otherwise.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

She's 2y 10m, and we use the size 6.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I like how well they seem to fit. DD is a very solid 2yo, and I've found that most nappies that are big enough around the waist seem to be too long, so they drop, then leak. The Lidl one's seem to stay in place even very well, even if they get heavy. I think the only leaks we've had were related to teething explosions.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, and I have done. I've actually given a friend a few to try for her DD, and she was also impressed.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes. To be fair, we were using them before the test too. They're the best nappies I've found. Apparently comfy, leak free, well fitted, and very good value.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

12 weeks old and we used size 2

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I am really impressed with these. We have had only 1 leak but that couldn't be helped. Very absorbant and nice designs. Didn't cause nappy rash. We had no problems with them. The only difference between these and pampers is that these nappies are thicker. That is it.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely, yes.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, they are cheaper and do the same jpb as pampers.

9 weeks old, size 2

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They didn't leak after 7 hours. The sticky tabs I found not sticky enough.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes definitely, especially for the price

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would definitely buy them If I was in lidl. I would not make a special trip to buy them as they are comparable to aldi and we have an aldi locally but not a lidl.

DS is 14wks and we used size 3 nappies.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I already use Aldi nappies and these were very similar. Good generous fit around the waist, good absorption. Slightly chemically smelling but this is true for nearly all nappies.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

My baby is 8 weeks and we tried size 2.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I thought the nappies felt very cheap and scratchy, also the tabs at the side were very stiff and not stretchy. They did not feel like they would be comfortable to wear and we had a few leaks.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
No

Baby is 15 months.
Normally use aldi, couldn't see any difference to be honest. Liked the design and that there were different ones, baby liked the pictures too. Felt a bit plasticky but no effect on baby's skin.
Would recommend these along with aldi. Not actually sure how much they were so not sure how price compares.
I do my weekly shop at aldi as seems cheaper so will carry on getting nappies from there but if I was away or needed some while out I would get lidl ones again if that's my option

Aged 5 weeks and I tested newborn size 1.
Very impressed with the Lidl nappies they fit well with no leaks. A wetness indicator would be nice but I can't fault them.
I would definitely recommend to a friend if I was asked.
I will buy Lidl nappies in the future in fact I already have bought size 4 & size 5 for my other 2 in nappies.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

I tested the nappies on a 5 week old baby using the size 2 nappies.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Nappies were of good quality, liked the design and feel they didn't leak. Only improvement would be a wetness indicator.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would recommend these nappies, they didn't leak and are excellent value.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would definitely buy these nappies again for same reasons as above.

3 weeks - size 1 nappies

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall they were OK. They felt very plasticy and I was worried about the absorbency because of this. When I used them, I felt they were very thin and we did gave a number of leaks.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Probably not, for the above reasons.

Apologies for late feedback but I didn't receive the product until about the 14th July due to a mix up at the Post Office (no card left and not taken to my local / usual collection point for parcels. I did let MNHQ know I hadn't received them though.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
3 months (small baby on 9th centile) / size 2

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They did the the job, no leaks but they didn't perform as well as other brands I've tried. They bulge quite a bit when wet and do have a cheaper, more plastic feeling.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I think they do an okay job but I wouldn't race about them. I prefer them to Asda/Sainsburys own but rank them below Pampers or Aldi nappies.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
On balance I prefer Aldi and Pampers nappies which bulge less when wet. Pampers feel a lot softer around the waist too, as do Aldi. I have a Lidl just five minutes from my house but rarely go in there and I don't think I would make a special stop just for nappies. I do make a special trip to Aldi 10 minutes away for their wipes but tend to get nappies on an Amazon subscription (Pampers) and then buy Aldi ones locally if caught short. I generally shop at Sainsburys (never buy their nappies though).

Thank you for letting me try them though. They certainly weren't bad, just not good enough to change my shopping habits.

1 - my daughter is 17 months and we tested size 4

2 - they bulged a lot more than pampers or Aldi, didn't leak but did look very bulky

3 - I wouldn't recommend them but they were OK for nursery where they change her very often

4 - no I wouldn't buy them

Son is 2 and a half years old. We tested size 6 nappies.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I think they are exceptional value for money. I wish I had tried them sooner. They seem very absorbent, light and colourful. However, I found the sticky velcro too sticky and when you pull them off the nappy if rips alot of the nappy apart.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes for sure.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes now that I've had the opportunity to try it, i will be buying them again.
